  Interesting game.. fun game mechanics.. HOWEVER.. I can't read Chinese .. the UI + the items descriptions need translation. Edit: For non Chinese speakers, I don't recommend purchasing this game unless you see an English translation patch for the game.

  I read the first few reviews and no one said anything about how all the game instruction's are in Chinese. I get most of the menu is English but I rather the menu be in Chinese and the actual tutorial be in English. Kind of frustrating. Game looks cool and will be fun to play but as I cant read Chinese I cant even get past the tutorial. If you are going to only translate 1/3 of the game don't advise in the store it's translated into english.

  Seems like it could be really fun, but I can't read Chinese so I don't have any idea what items do, or how the story is unfolding, or really what anything means or does. The store page says the interface is supported in both English and Chinese, but that's definitely not true. Some things in the menu are sort of in English, but beyond that not much else in the game is. Tutorials, messages, item descriptions, location names - all of that seems to only be available in Chinese. Bummer, but the parts I can play are intriguing enough to not refund, in hopes the dev pushes forward and provides an actual translated version.

  This game has a lot of potential. However, the English support is lacking at best. Some menu items currently support English, but a majority of ingame tutorials, tips & most importantly—items are not translated, or are not consistently translated. There's a book you can "read" that takes you through a very helpful gameplay tutorial. The tutorial here is necessary but also frustrating because of the translation. However, this is the only section of the game that has video clips as hints to show you what they are looking for to advance. After completing the opening section, the book, and the first boss. I find myself wishing I understood the mechanics better because the gameplay is so good. If the game was more polished outside of combat, I would hang on to it. Even after acquiring on sale I'm going to refund, while keeping my eye on the state of English translations. The importance with the translation is that every item has a wall of text. If you're the type to experiment by trying everything without knowing the finer details, or if you understand the native language, you will have a blast playing this. There are some other gameplay faults that I would overlook if I understood more about the game. But these faults + inconsistent translation makes me feel like I can get the game on a better sale (got it 30% off) after more translations and other updates are added. This is why at this point I cannot recommend.

  So I saw this game a while ago and thought it looked really cool. The reviews were very positive saying it was amazing with barely any negative reviews. So when it finally said it was translated to English I bought it in excitement. But I was immediately disappointed. There was no English translation, apart from basic main menu text. The instructions were all in Chinese, so I had no idea what I needed to do or how to do anything. While the game looks and environment were interesting, it was incredibly laggy and it was unplayable, especially because everything was in Chinese. Now I didn't ask for a refund because despite the glaring flaws and bugs, I really do like what I've seen and hope there will be updates to fix it. But until they ACTUALLY translate this game, they need to remove the false advertised translation in the store page. I've also noticed that the reason there were barely any negative reviews is because they get removed. So that is incredibly sketchy and underhanded, and needs to stop.

  you are a sword, you can fly and you have to beat everything fast paced action, after beating a boss you can use his move to put it simply : indie chinese [strike]soul like[/strike] Action RPG update: before the last boss in the second chapter there is a slighty hidden bloody palace at the bottom where you can fight to your heart content the last boss is also interesting and show promise for the future of this game

  This isn't just one of the best souls-like games I've ever played, it's one of the *best* games I've ever played, ever. UPDATE: there is now English support for the menu and some items! A quick guide to playing Souls of Blades: 1) You get a sack as your first item in the game. It lets you use your items (heal, use magic items, equip passive items, and so on). You have to press (X) on an XBOX 360 controller or 'square' on a PS3 controller on the sack (press start to pull it up). Then, press the same button on an item (X) or 'square' and equip it in one of the slots. Once it's equipped, press LB/L1 to use 1 of it or RB/R1 to use 5 of whatever item is equipped. Some magic items have different uses depending on whether you press one button or the other so try both, Blue paper heals you and gold paper throws a (shuriken?) weapon. This is extremely useful, so keep as many as you can. 2) When you kill a boss, it gives you its soul. Once you consume the soul you'll gain its power. To do this, press start to access your inventory, press A (XBOX) or X (PS4) on the sack and then press the same button on the soul to consume it. Then, press LT or L2 to change forms and gain all the powers of that boss. Once you've collected multiple souls, go to the hub area (just press A (xbox) or X (ps4) on the blue crystals (these are like bonfires) and you'll teleport to a huge hub). To the right of the hub is a sword. Go to it and you can cycle through boss souls to equip since you can only have one at a time. Just press on the one you want to equip it. 3) There are lots of combos in the game. On the main/blue soul, press X (xbox) or square (ps4) twice and then Y (xbox) or triangle (ps4) once to do an upward attack. Once the enemy flies into the air, jump up and attack it as many times as possible. You can stun-lock many enemies this way and kill them before they even land a hit on you. 4) This is a list of the items and what they do: -electric (paddle?): Press RB/R1 to create an orb that does passive damage to the enemy and also stuns the enemy if they're touching the orb. If you get behind an enemy and press Y or triangle on it then you can take out a large portion of its health. Then, by pressing RB/R1 with this item equipped, it will be stunned for a moment and you can deal massive damage. This has a certain number of uses you can do. DON'T WORRY - you can refill it by resting at the blue crystals. -Blue paper: heals you -Yellow paper: shuriken/throwing item -Green paper: restores magic -Flute: needed to finish the game (doesn't do anything else that I know of) -Flag: lets you move platforms. Equip it, aim at a platform, and then press RB/R1 to move it. -Metal mask: equip it and some platforms will appear in certain areas (can't be moved by flag as unequipping the mask makes the platform disappear) -Sword: gives you an extra two sword attacks. Must be in blue soul form to use. -Bells: do some ranged damage, takes magic to use -Gourd-thing: basically an Estus flask; lets you heal if you press either R1/RB or L1/LB. One is immediate and the other is passive healing. -Brown/red token with tassels: used to open locked drawers -Shards: sharpens weak weapons? (not sure) -Broken javelins: arguably the best weapons in the game. Must be repaired by unlocking a secret area where a blacksmith/merchant can be found. Once repaired, these javelins can be equipped when in the yellow soul form. The quick attack is good and has great range but the charge up attack is the strongest in-game, and can one-shot nearly every enemy, including bosses, when fully upgraded. -Souls/white fluff: obtained by killing enemies, these 'souls' (not sure what they're actually called) can be used to upgrade your equipment via the hidden blacksmith Bloody knife: can't be used yet, and will be usable in an update later on. SPOILERS BELOW (how to beat the game). I'm only including this so that it's easier for English speakers, as we can't understand any of the cut scenes or in-game material. In order to beat the game, you must find two chains with swords attaching to the ground and hit them until the chains glow blue. Then climb up a tower by flying inside it. At the top of the tower there are three chains you must scale. One has a rest area/blue crystals you can use as a checkpoint. The other two have bosses you have to kill for the chains to activate (a chain is also near the crystals). One boss is super duper easy and the other boss is the hardest boss in any game I've ever played. If you're going to play aggressive, I'd suggest using the red soul. If you play passive, use the yellow soul. If you want to 'cheese' it, use the blue soul (UPDATE: the yellow soul, when equipping javelins, can nearly one-shot this boss). Then, go to the bottom of the tower and activate the yin-yang symbol. Then go to where one of the ground-floor chains was, near an opening (not the one inside the building). Fly over to the blue Chinese character (it's huge, can't miss it) and fly on top. YOU MUST HAVE THE FLUTE EQUIPPED. Then run forward and press B (xbox) or circle (ps4) on the white spot on the end of the character and a dragon will appear. The game will end and new game+ will begin.

  Somehow Steam hasn't captured just how much I've played this game. Maybe it's because I was offline most of the time but anyway - this game is sick! I love how much the z-axis is involved in this game; it makes the world design very interesting. It’s fun to jump/fly around and explore and find all the connections between the different areas. The more you play the more shortcuts and connections you find which is really cool. The combat is great! It’s smooth, challenging and fast paced which is the perfect combo. I don’t speak Chinese nor do I read Chinese so I have no idea what’s going on in the game which obviously made it harder to find out what each item does and how to use them. Nevertheless I’ve had a great time playing this game and I’m looking forward to the full release! 10/10 let’s goooo!!

  This is my experience with JianPo. More hard crashes then I can count. The stamina gets stuck over & over, or it just stops refilling. And makes a weird clicking sound. You could have no stamina forever. You need to just start hitting random buttons to get it to work properly. And lets be clear here there is no English at all in this game. There are signs on the floor like souls games to teach you how to play the game...that's my guess. But everything is in Chinese...Everything! The only thing in English is at the end of all the Chinese writing it says (I see B). Which I believe means click B to get out/close. This games is as broken as you can get. When I read the reviews on here. I'm wondering now if they were on drugs. Or were they playing the same game as me. The reviews made me think I was in for a treat. Many of your main buttons work & sometimes they don't... beats me whats going on here. Hopefully this review won't get taking down. Just maybe it might help someone from making a mistake. Because I noticed if I leave a negative review it gets taken down. And taken down fast. But a positive review will stay up forever. Seems a little fishy to me. But I would keep far away from this one. Because it is just broken. On the flipside I do like the art style. And if these things were fixed & the game was playable I will change my review. But even a early access game should be somewhat playable. Because if not what's the point.
