War Thunder has been ruling the world of cross-combat vehicular combat MMO for years on PC and Console. And after years of waiting, it is finally coming to mobile and fans can’t be any more excited about it. The game was first released all the way back in 2016 and it has come a long way, amassing millions of fans from all around the world. And that gives War Thunder Mobile a ton of content to keep the players hooked for hours.
But for those of you who have no idea what this game is all about. Well, War Thunder mobile is an upcoming PvP MMO shooter that puts you in the shoes of war soldiers, battling it out on the ground, air, and water, using some of the deadliest weapons that date all the way back to the Great War. And now with its release date getting closer, I think it’s the perfect time to talk about what this game has to offer judging by its open beta gameplay, so far.
A hardcore war combat
War Thunder Mobile is ready to take the world of mobile gaming by storm with its awesome large-scale military vehicular combat that comes jam-packed with a ton of awesome war vehicles for an epic showdown of survival. And while the game is still in open beta testing, you could tell War Thunder Mobile has got the potential to become one of the best MMOs of the upcoming time.
And from what I’ve experienced in the game so far, War Thunder mobile has done a great job of creating gameplay that closely mimics the real-life working of these fine weapons to create an impactful and intense battle system. Of course, the game feels much more fast-paced and engaging than War Thunder PC and console counterparts. But it has become the new normal for mobile versions of popular pc games, because of their smaller and compact design that encourages players to keep engaged in fights.
But unlike most games, War Thunder mobile doesn’t reduce the size of the maps. Instead what War Thunder Mobile does is that it strategically changes the spawn points on the map so players can stay within reach of each other and carry out attacks faster. This makes the gameplay feel more alive and intense, and keeps you glued to the screen for a long time.
Realistically epic battle
The world of gaming is filled to the brim with war combat games and I’ve played plenty of them over the years. But nothing comes close to War Thunder’s realistic war machines that feel impactful and authentic. The developers have done a great job with the game’s physics system which brings each war vehicle to life.
You can feel the inertia of gigantic ships when piloting them across the open seas to battle or the sudden rush of adrenaline running through your veins or even the impactful recoil of your tank launching deadly projectiles at your enemies. This is something that you don’t really see anywhere else. So, as far as the combat system is concerned, I think it is some of the best I’ve experienced in a long time.
War Thunder Mobile also stays true to its roots and tries to keep the combat as authentic as possible. There’s very little to no hand-holding at all - you don’t see health bars sticking on top of the enemies to help you or do any of the physically-impossible stuff like most casual games. And that’s something that I love about this game.
Stunning visuals with a plethora of content
If you haven’t played War Thunder on any of the other platforms, you will surely be awe-struck with its stunningly gorgeous visuals. It’s the first thing that draws you towards the game as you get ready for battle. But that’s far from the only thing that will keep you immersed, the game features a ton of awesome content including vehicles, weapons, and maps. I have only been able to explore so much in my limited time in the game, but according to the official War Thunder mobile site, there are well over 65 different vehicles, including air, water and land vehicles.
And for someone who is fascinated by history, I found it especially exciting to see vehicles from the great war all the way up to modern beasts. Each with its own unique mechanics and weapons that force you to play strategically, always planning two steps ahead of the opposition. War Thunder Mobile also comes packed with many awesome maps that have you change your strategies accordingly.
There’s always a catch
War Thunder mobile is definitely a great game but it has its own shortcomings that are worth talking about. The very first thing that kinda threw me off my game (more times than I am willing to accept) is the touch controls. They felt a bit clunky and I struggled for quite a while just to stop myself from accidentally blowing things up. The lack of an upgrade tree also caught me off-guard before I learned about the new upgrade mechanic in place that used Platoons to unlock new vehicles.
But for players who are just getting started with this game, they might find this upgrade system to be better than the other and significantly less grindier but… still grindier, nonetheless. The focus has kind of shifted slightly towards “pay-to-win” as it politely suggests players to spend real currency on SL and GE.
How to play War Thunder Mobile on PC
If you are someone like me who loves experiencing games to their fullest, there’s good news for you. You can play War Thunder Mobile directly on your PC using the Gameloop emulator. Not only will you be able to get swift controls using a keyboard and mouse, but you will also be able to bump the graphics quality all the way up to immerse yourself in a war experience like never before.
All you need to do is open up the official Gameloop site and download the Gameloop emulator and install it on your PC. Once that’s done, you can boot it up and search for War Thunder Mobile in the search bar above. Open up War Thunder Mobile download page and click on “Install” to proceed with the installation process. Once the installation process is finished, you will find the game on your Desktop.
This way you can get the best possible experience of War Thunder Mobile on a big screen with easy controls. Speaking of which, Gameloop also lets you fully customize each and every keyboard key according to your own liking for convenient controls. It also gives you a better fighting chance against other players on mobile. Overall, the game has massive potential to become the best war MMO on mobile platforms, except for a few hiccups.
