“I AM GINA” mobile application uses artificial intelligence to identify waste as either biodegradable, residual, recyclable, or special waste. To prevent frequent floods due to clogged drainage systems, this offline Android app prevents erroneous disposal of waste through Bluetooth modules connected to smart trash bins. Using crowd-sourced and manually collected datasets, this study supports large-scale adoption with little to no cost and aims to increase public knowledge around the environmental impacts of waste.
