I am finally writing a review for this game after years of having it, and completing it fully some time ago. I just never got around to writing a review for it and the second one. This game was actually my first introduction into the Sniper Elite games, which lead me to getting into V2 and loving the series over all. I have the Trilogy game as well, but as of the time of writing this I haven't completed that game and need to. This is a very very fun game, though a bit short. Best to play it and the sequel together or get the Trilogy game. Set in WWII, this is an alternate timeline where Hitler and his cult opened up the gates to hell and caused demons to possess the Nazi armies turning them into zombies. It is up to Karl Fairburn and 3 unlikely allies to band together and fight against these armies of the undead, destroy the cult leaders, and finally taking down Zombie Hitler (though that's in the 3rd game). This first game is the first 5 missions, and are more straight forward than the chaos that starts to happen in the second game. But this is a great launching point as you blast though walls of nazi zombies with your sniper rifles, machine guns, pistols and even some powerful shotguns you get. there are your regular typical zombies in this game, however there are also other types of zombies that are more dangerous. Like the Elites, which are tall tanky zombies that hold large 50 caliber machine guns, constantly firing in your direction. They have helmets that block headshots and are very tough. there are kamakazi zombies that run at you with grenades and scream, or just pop out of the ground like Bouncing Betty mines. Though you wouldn't have much of a sniper game without having to deal with enemy snipers... and that goes for a zombie game to. yes there are sniper zombies. They jump around from roof top to roof top, making themselves hard to hit. Taking aim at you and firing before leaping to another building. The later games add even more enemies, but that's mostly it here except the cult Generals that are bosses in the game. Oh and there are skeletons. they are annoying to deal with but their weakness is their chest where the lungs and heart is. This is an awesome game and was the first game I bought trading cards for to get the badges and foil badge. Even if you have the Trilogy version, I'd still recommend getting this original one, as it is a different experience with how things work to an extent. A must play!

    If you came here for an engaging storyline, as some of the reviewers apparently did, please re-read the title of the game. There are no plot twists, or emotional dialogues to be found here. Instead, this game delivers exactly what it promises, an army of Nazi zombies. What could be more satisfying than this? Who better to vent your daily frustrations on? These are not your unfortunate neighbors, family or friends who have been transformed into the walking dead ... no ... they are undead Nazis. This game is about blowing the crap out of undead Nazis ... period. Not only that, it also allows you to experience the crap-blowing up close and in slow motion, following your speeding projectile as it snaps bones, punctures organs and otherwise eviscerates the unending legion of menacing corpses. If you enjoy the idea of purging the world of demonic Nazi zombies, then this is the game for you!

    Sniper Elite V2 but with zombies. Not the most complex game of its type but it has good replayability and satisfying gunplay. This game together with Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army 2 are included in Zombie Army Trilogy on Steam.

    You should really buy this! It's ridiculous, yet fun! So the story sets at the last hour of WW2 and Hitler launches a final attack which is resurrecting dead armies. I love the classic zombie movie-esque style, the music, the atmosphere is just amazing. The zombies are not what you expect from nowadays zombies, I mean the running, psycho-like zombies. Well this one is different. As I said earlier, the zombies are slow but also deadly just like in one of George Romero's movies. You can play on solo or with three friends, both are not bad but experiencing with friends are awesome. The gameplay is similar to Sniper Elite V2, the weapons are unfortunately the same but you can choose what you prefer in the safehouse once you've cleared the waves of zombies. I've heard that Zombie Army Trilogy is coming out so I prefer for you to get the trilogy since they got all 2 of the Nazi Zombie games including the new one which is the third. So I don't want to spoil too much, I'll give this game at 8/10 c:
A challenging & atmospheric wave shooter // Recommended for co-op with friends
+ Includes co-operative play, which enhances the entertainment value massively + Bullet time and X-ray features are excellently employed, look fantastic, and the frequency can be scaled up or down as the user prefers + Points system encourages taking risks with difficult and long-range shots; often does well to increase the feeling of satisfaction earned when eliminating a difficult sniper + Loot and cover mechanics are minimalist and practical + Gunplay and hit mechanics are all top-notch; everything connects well and feels appropriate + The game's atmosphere is absolutely palpable; this is largely enhanced by the shrill screams of the enemy mobs and the dark theme music pervading throughout + Levels are well-designed and objectives are clearly marked; one is not likely to get lost while moving about + Quality audio design + Lighting plays well against the walls, and generally looks excellent in terms of quality + Environmental textures are quite detailed; overall visual presentation is adequate - Plot is nonchalantly presented and woefully underdeveloped - Characters are as bland as smooth stones; no lines, no reactions, nothing - Game shows an over-reliance on wave mechanics; gets frustrating and predictable in a hurry - Realistic lighting is often sacrificed for atmosphere; that is, while the lighting mechanics themselves are done quite well, the colors and tones of the lighting feel extremely out of place and unrealistic - There is really only one boss, and it is encountered more than once; boss fights are bland and uninspired - Bodies will, more often than not, disappear a bit too quickly to loot to one's satisfaction or requirements - Precious little in the way of collectibles and in-game lore; does not lend to a high replay value, save for co-operative play with friends
LockeProposal's Big Day Out
Community Group Curator Page Serious Steam Reviews subReddit
Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army * 7/10
What if... What if Dolfy, through his occult studies and expeditions, found a way to revive the dead? Well, he would obviously create his Nazi Zombie Army!!! And that's all I can say about the plot as I never really paid too much attention to it. There's no need to. I could also tell you about the gameplay, but actually there's not much to say, the gameplay essentially is the same as in Sniper elite v2 but this time with zombies. Levels are simply tunnels where you have to stop here and there and face the zombie waves. Very quick, very superficial. Because there's no need to go in depth, nor to say too much. Such a simple premise and a recycled gameplay mix just give an amazingly and incredibly fun gameplay, as long as you play cooperatively with friends, of course. This is the kind of game you just play and have fun because you play with friends and it doesn't need any particular story, nor complicated mechanics, just go and shoot or snipe on the hordes, that's all, really. Why the fun? Friends of mine just love wave based coop games... Or zombie games. I can live with it but I've been simply struck by the 80's synth music and that foggy atmosphere that really reminds me of Carpenter's movies. That's my weak point: 80s. Believe me or not that made the difference to me with other common games: the opportunity to play with friends against nazi zombies in foggy villages with an 80's synth music. I could spend a couple of words about the awesomeness of the slowmotion effect during successful sniping shots and the x-ray cam to see which bone has been broken by our bullet, but that's not the news, something already seen and already done, in Sniper Elite v2 or in Mortal Kombat as well. The most important thing I can say is that this is the first chapter, there's a second chapter and there's a trilogy chapter, which holds the first, second and third exclusive episode in an improved engine (not much, just a little bit). So while I recommend this game, I actually recommend you to buy directly the trilogy because this situation doesn't make much sense at all...
+++PROs+++

ZOMBIES... NAZIS! COOP!!! Facing Hordes of Nazi Zombies with your friends? You've just nailed it, without anything too complicated.
ATMOSPHERE. Foggy roads and villages, rubbles in towns everything while you listen to some 80's synth music. Simply perfect!

---CONs---

MANEUVERABILITY. A common problem with Sniper elite 1 and V2, the caracter's moves can be a bit too rigid sometimes, and it may cost you your life while you're surrounded by zombies.
MEANINGLESS EPISODIC PRODUCT. For some odd *cough*MONEY*cough* reason they released the first and the second chapter on their own. Then they released a trilogy with both of them and the final chapter. No discounts for those who already owned the first 2 chapters, no single third chapter as well... None of the two chapter is worth buying, it makes more sense to take the entire trilogy.
