  I enjoy this game, and I'm considering supporting it's patreon, but at the state it's in now, it's just way too hard. Even on the easiest difficulty, it feels as if the AI racers get speed boosts out of nowhere, and this gets really frustrating when paired with the track design. The tracks are designed to be hard with obstacles everywhere, and this just doesn't work well with how overpowered the AI seems to be. It's a fun game with lots of heart put into it, but it's just way too hard right now.

  interesting and fun idea, rough execution. The idea of a kart dating sim is fun, but atm, with a $20 price tag, it's a little too rough. The racing is stiff and clunky, and the boost system seems...unfinished. As someone who's beaten all the Velo times in CTR:NF, and the Platinum Trophy, it definitely doesn't feel as good. It seemingly tries to get the Reserve system, but falls short with too little time to build them. The sim parts are frustrating trial and error with a correct choice rewarding you and a wrong one punishing you with a weight that can only be removed by getting smacked. They also become annoying with subsequent cups trying to unlock goodies and the boss racers. I'd appreciate a full on skip option for them on subsequent playthroughs, and more reward in the progress bar for the teddies and such. Speaking of... The boss races mimic CTR's, throwing hazards out every few seconds, and do Oxide's schtick of boosting before the green light, every time, and the boss weapons don't disappear, causing subsequent laps to be littered with traps, especially Twisted Terry. I wouldn't be as harsh with the idea of the bosses if i didn't have to sit through the same dialogue, same races, menus, etc., every time i lost, and would prefer a "try again?" like in CTR. I enjoy such character references as Twisted Terry in Sweet Tooth's signature ice cream truck, and the idea of Detour being Lakitu in his cloud, but, I feel it limiting they can't swap karts. TT is shown in his ending, why not let him the truck for a monkey ball marble or a pumpkin? Same for Detour, it just feels limiting, even with such an expansive cast. I found Detour berating me with "Wrong Way!!" even on the right path more than a few times, and even clipped out of bounds, and confused the game by bouncing around thanks to the games somewhat pinball-esque physics into resetting my kart completely, while being on the track. The game also crashed three times on first boot, but that may be a personal issue, I'm unsure. For some reason the controller support sometimes peters out for a few seconds and goes blank, grinding you to a screeching halt. I tried three different PS4 controllers, unsure if it's a PS4 issue or what, but, I'd suggest looking into it. The item selection is a good mix of CTR and Mario Kart with a lewd twist, the characters and kart choice is outstanding, the art style is fun and reminiscent of Robo Blast Kart, the quips and voice lines are fun, and I see great potential, it just needs some good fixes first. Focus on gameplay now, and the fun bells and whistles first.

  A somewhat competent kart racing game, it's fun but it's biggest flaw lies in visual design. A lot of important things are not telegraphed to the player like turns, dangers, projectiles, hits and misses. On the topic of design, there is a great deal of inconsistencies in the art style department regardless of the quality of the illustrations, the game doesn't know if it wants to be a retro style game or just a cartoony one. Among other things, pick ups and power ups for example do not make much sense until a tooltip clarifies what they do and even then it's hard to tell if they do achieve their intended purpose. Gameplaywise, it's fun, your average kart racer with drift boost and ramp turbos, the stats on the characters have a real impact on performance whether that's a good thing or not. One thing that i found troublesome are invincibility frames, you don't get enough of these and so, you can get easily trapped between environment hazards and pick ups dropped by other racers.

  I'm selective about which "adult" games I play, and when I saw Shady Lewd Kart, I was intrigued. A kart racer with a naughty twist? I had to check it for myself, and I gotta tell ya, I'm very pleased with the game. (As a side note, this'll be my 69th review on Steam, just seemed appropriate. XD) The kart racing itself is very well done, it feels just like other kart racers with its controls and the weapons are cleverly done within the theme. The selection of racers is a who's who of lewd games, and the method of unlocking new stuff fits the theme too. This game knows you want naughty stuff and gives it to you. The lewd artwork that you can unlock and/or buy from the shop are well done also. They're varied, as some come from different artists, and are also cute and/or sexy. They're a great reward for racing well, and just extra toppings on an already excellent game. The sense of humor caught me by surprise, in a good way. This game doesn't take itself too seriously, and that just makes everything work. I feel a great sense of humor makes or breaks games that rely on it, and fortunately, this one makes it. All in all, I would heartily recommend SLK, unless you don't like naughty stuff. :)

[h1]Gameplay[/h1] Shady Lewd Kart can best be summed up with "Mario Kart". For those of you who live under a rock bigger than mine, kart games are essentially light-hearted racing games featuring go-carts. They often feature "power-ups" to boost the player or attack others. In this title, between racing, there are also visual novel-eske portions, where you can learn more about the pitgirls and other [b]Shady Lewd Cart[/b] characters. Throughout stages, there are collectibles called "dating items". These can be used to increase the affection of "pitgirls". But gifts are [i]worthless[/i] if you don't earn "first place", because [i]if you're not first, [b]you're last.[/b][/i] To help you stay in first, there are also "weapons". And by "weapons", I mean [i]weaponized panties[/i] and a variety of [i]sexual tools[/i] Which also includes [i]tentacles[/i]. 'nuff said. Before the game starts, you are given a chance to set the difficulty (from [i]Just the tip[/i] to [i]Oh GOD! BREAK ME SENPAI![/i]) Your choice of difficulty will [i]not[/i] alter progression or unlockable content. If you're not fond of the default (control) settings, you can adjust keybindings from "Options". Difficulty can be changed at any time. There are a variety of game modes to partake in. "Story Cup" is self-explanatory. In "Free Race", you can enjoy any stage you want (and still earn rewards). "Time Trial" is a more competitive "Free Race" where you battle 'gainst the time. From the "Shop" you can purchase characters, cosmetics, karts, and a variety of lewd content. There's even a "Tutorial" for newcomers and return players alike! Now let's talk about the selectable racers. Oh. . . my. . . [i]awesome.[/i] There are a total of [i]sixty[/i] playable characters, though to start only eight are playable. There are characters from the "Shady Corner" (from [b]Shady Lewd Kart[/b] universe), along with guest appearances from a wide variety of other titles (such as [b]Monster Girl Island[/b] and [b]Venture Seas[/b]). What a delightful surprise! If you're new to kart racing games, you're in for a rough start. [i]I suck[/i], and I [i]sucked hard[/i] at the easiest difficulty. But no matter how bad you [i]suck[/i], you will always walk away with some pocket change (so you're always a winner!) Not only that, but you also fill up a "Climax Meter", which nets coins and [i]surprises.[/i] [h1]Story[/h1] [i]Here's the rub.[/i] Twenty six (of the sixty) characters have a beginning and end cutscene regarding their [i]Shady Lewd Kart[/i] participation. [i]No[/i], I'm not gonna talk about each and every one of them. So we'll settle for [i]Shades[/i], the man for the (in-universe) Shady Lewd Kart events. His gimmick are [i]shades[/i], and he looks like an [i]arrogent, seasoned pervert.[/i] He's also a famous "adult" reviewer (who runs the "Shady Corner"). He devises a sort of "master plan" for an event of [i]sheer hedonism[/i], intending to gather [i]sexy[/i] ladies from lewd videogames. This "event" is called [i]Shady Lewd Kart[/i], and he's gathered a [i]whole lot[/i] of ladies for you (and he) to enjoy. [h1]Visuals[/h1] From the [i]get-go[/i], I was impressed by the titlescreen. It's loaded with pretty (silly) visuals and with a cutesy moving background. Each menu looks [i]mostly[/i] polished, and it is easy to navigate everything (from modes, missions to characters!) I'm not sure what I'd call the in-game visuals, but I'd describe them as low poly and pixelated. . . [i]in a good way[/i]. I think it's called "retro". All of the [i]saucy content[/i] is accessible from the "Collection". You can review pitgirls' "affectionate" scenes and cutscenes for the drivers. There's a "Gallery", where you can view purchased artwork. There is also a "Museum", where you can check-out the names of who made this game happen. Finally, you can view the progress of the Climax Meter. [b]- The Goods -[/b] The artwork is [i]highly[/i] stylized. I personally enjoyed the art style, but it's not one I associate with [i]sauciness[/i]. The unlockable lewd content is static but very well drawn. There's a great deal of [i]juicy goodness[/i] and female-on-female [i]intercourse.[/i] Unfortunately, the images cannot be fullscreened, and are not in the correct aspect ratio to fill the screen (even if they could be [i]full screened.[/i]) All in all, the [i]goods[/i] are high-quality, but leave a bit to be desired. [h1]Verdict[/h1] This is an "adult" game with enough [i]real[/i] gameplay and story to play [i]without[/i] heed to the "adult" content. In truth, the sexy stuff is [i]icing on the cake.[/i] With more content and multiplayer support on the horizon, I'd definitely consider picking up this title and supporting development!   What Can I say, I was pleasantly surprised with this game. It is a solid kart racing game. The racing reminds be of a mash up of CTR and MK8. The drifting reminds me of CTR but instead of hitting a button at the right time to gain boost it takes one from Mario Kart 8 where the longer you drift the more boost you will get once you release the button. All in All its an addictive kart racer with some ART to unlock with in game money.

  This might be the most frustrating racer I've ever played. First, the good: Absolutely love the concept and the overall gameplay. Nice little karting game with familiar mechanics. Lots to unlock! The bad: The stuff you unlock can be pretty disappointing at first, but I'm assuming a lot more gets added as this is early access. But the worst part is the difficulty. I don't mean this game is "tough to win", I mean it's straight up unfair at times. There's virtually no invincibility after getting hit with an item or stage interaction. You can be in first place and drop to last in a matter of seconds. Most other kart games will give you some kind of warning that something is coming at you from behind, but not here. And sometimes when you collide with something solid in the stage you'll find yourself bouncing backwards and forwards for a long time before you can steer out of it. The story cups are pretty beatable, but the "challenge" modes are just insanely frustrating right now. I'm not sure if that's the experience the developer wants me to have right now but I thought I'd provide my honest feedback. So as of right now, I can't really recommend the game. As for me, I'm eagerly looking forward to re-rating the game as a recommendation later. At the moment, it's just not fun for me.
