Careful you don't go over the 2 hour refund time, especially if you change to smooth locomotion, it'll take you over that to just walk around the beginning area at slower than a snails pace and there is no smooth turning or even snap turning possible just to make it even more painful... if you do manage to get through this area and into the park you will be greeted with tiny areas with invisible walls everywhere and the slow walking speed will be even more painful... if they had spent a couple of hours implementing faster movement and smooth turning I wouldn't of gave a negative review for the price I paid - £6.39, but it still would've only been a mixed one due to the invisible walls and being able to walk straight through the creatures and even the vehicles you come across... like I say though, fix the movement issues and I wouldn't have felt so scammed, and they are never going to fix it so I am never going to buy another one of their lazy unfinished games again either.

Honestly this was a letdown. For the asking price I would have expected a more completed game with more features. This is why VR isn't as big as it could, and should be! No one is making """real""" games for the platform. This is just another one of those lame-o non game, games, that are basically just a mini game, or a demo, they charge you an unfair amount for. Absolutely NOT worth $40. Even $20 would be pushing it. Remember 3D movies? When they were trying to push those hard? You would go to see a 3D movie and pay a premium for it, just to get a mediocre experience that tried too hard to say "HEY LOOK IT'S 3DDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!" That's Ark Park. A typical generic VR experience we've seen a hundred million times. Nothing new or exciting, very very little content.

No No No no no.. Was so looking forward to this and it just seems half finished and poorly optimised. The graphics, while not bad, pale when compared with games like Robinson. They just seem too blurry and low res for what is essentially an on rails experience for the most part. (tried changing supersampling also). The sound glitches in and out too putting the final nail in the coffin of immersion. If I hadnt been anticipating this release so eagerly and if it had a price tag around 60-70% less it would be an acceptable purchase IMO. I would also have happily waited another few months and paid the asking price for a polished release. We seem to have become so used to games being full of issues and disappointment upon release, that we accept this as normal and wait for patches like plebs. Fair enough if this is an Early Access product (and lets face it Ark was king of EA) but this is a full price release and as such is a massive let down. Might be good if you have kids you don't like and they're into dinosaurs and you fancy a bit of quiet.. or if you want to experience what it would be like to live with cataracts in prehistoric times.. but if not I'd pass Unfortunately refunded. Will perhaps check it out much further on down the line after optimisation patches and a half price sale.

After two hours of playing, I can safely say this is a very poor attempt at an ARK/Dinosaur VR game. As a huge fan of ARK: Survival Evolved, I was very disappointed with what this game had to offer. Where do I even begin? The first thing you'll notice when you start the game, is that the graphics are quite lacking compared to what was shown in the trailer. The trailer had beautifully crafted bullshot visuals, cutscenes and sights to see, whereas the actual game has blurry, underwhelming and overall drastically less quality visuals than each trailer showed off. There are no cutscenes or animated human characters in the game, so you're alone in the park with the dinosaurs. After completing the tutorial levels, you'll find that there are three different modes to try out, each with only a small chunk of content to experience. In this review, i'll go over each mode and talk about what they offer.
Hub/Crafting area
The first area after the tutorial levels is a hub area that allows you to craft weapons for the battle mode, incubate/breed dinosaurs, and try out your weapons on a shooting range. You can take various dinosaur eggs you collect from the other modes, then incubate and raise them, and they'll muck about the area like a cute little personal pet. Oh yeah, while we're on the topic of the incubating/breeding dinosaur system, so I went ahead and purchased the deluxe/"TEK" edition of the game, which allows your character to wear TEK armor from ARK: Survival Evolved and allows you to raise a "Mecha Rex", which is just a bionic Rex from Survival Evolved. It sounds really cool in principle, however, much to my surprise, when I went to incubate the egg, I found out that I'll have to wait an actual THIRTEEN HOURS for the egg to hatch. I figured you could just come back to the game after the hours had passed by, but no, this time MUST be spent in game, and the timer will not go down outside of the game. I was honestly so shocked; I thought I was playing a different game than Survival Evolved, where egg times are just as long if not longer, but, understandable at the same time. But to wait thirteen hours for basically a glorified TEK tamagatchi pet? There isn't even thirteen hours of gameplay in the game. Overall an absurd and stupid design decision; i'm scared to see what the other dinosaur incubation times are.
Exploration/Gathering Mode
The next mode is basically an exploration mode that allows you to interact with the environment and various dinosaurs. You can also collect resources you find along the way and scan dinosaurs to unlock stuff for the battle mode. There are only 5 different levels and each aren't exactly chock full of content, there's about what I'd say is ten minutes or less worth of interaction in each level. One disappointing level in particular was a mountaintop view with an Obelisk from Survival Evolved in the background for some reason, however, the kicker about this one is the Hot Air Balloon. The game basically teases you with a hot air balloon ride, with all sorts of flying dinosaurs to see. However... you can't ride the hot air balloon. It's literally just sitting there as if it's ready to be ridden. There's even a balloon in the background floating around in the sky. Why exactly would they do this? It's such a stupid and baffling design decision. Overall each level wasn't very polished; the creatures, while cute, have shoddy and janky animation alongside strange and unrealistic sizes, there isn't very much to do after exploring each level other than to go back to scan the dinosaurs you missed or collect resources needed for the battle mode.
Battle Mode
The battle mode is the last mode in the game. In this mode, you're defending some sort of device from waves of angry dinosaurs. You can craft different weapons from Survival Evolved in the hub area such as a compound bow, assault rifle, sword, pike, and one-use only minigun turret. The dinosaurs in this mode look even more janky and silly than they do in the other modes. Some of them even lack the fur technology from Survival Evolved, making them look totally ugly and out of place. Imagine Megapithecus/The Gorilla boss from Survival Evolved without any sort of fur on it's body, or Therizinosaurus without any sort of feathers. That's the type of quality you'll get in this game. The mode itself is honestly quite boring, it's just an ARK-themed wave shooter that gets more "difficult" by turning each dinosaur into a bullet sponge. There's hardly any replayability in it, once you finish all the battle levels, there's nothing else really to do and you won't exactly be itching to play them again. Overall, I wish I didn't have to refund this game, or write this negative review, or be so disappointed. I am not often let down by the ARK IP, and I'm glad Studio Wildcard wasn't really affiliated with this game, other than providing models and probably small details on the side, as it's such a poor representation of what ARK is and has to offer. ARK Park is a totally disappointing and boring "tech" demo if you can even call it that, since there isn't really any tech to be shown off in the first place.
TL;DR - I didn't enjoy it, super lackluster and disappointing, not much to do, "tech" demo if you can even call it that.
I was wary of all the negative reviews at first, given how much I enjoyed ARK: Survival Evolved vs. how many negative comments it received over minor changes. They were spot on this time... In short: Extremely limited gameplay, each of the 10 scenes are no bigger than an area in The Lab. In long: This is a whole other level of bad, "open world" is a joke, there are a few very limited scenes where you can watch the exact same scripted sequences repeatedly, break the same 2 rocks and 3 trees for resources to make one of two guns. Don't believe the screenshots and trailer showing a vibrant and living world, it's just you and a few scripted dinosaurs moving along the same rails repeatedly, growling on schedule or stamping their feet, like visiting a cheap animatronic zoo. This is not Jurassic World, this is a VR tech demo with ARK assets. Absolute disgrace, shame on you Snail Games.

The game doesn't look nearly as good as it does in the trailer or the screenshots. It has more content than most VR games, but it's definitely not worth 40 bucks. The exploration and wave shooter levels are very limited and outside of that is almost nothing to do. I tried multiplayer, but it's not even possible to find other people playing. There aren't even any human NPC's (such as visitors) in the game even though they are shown in the trailer. Issued a refund.

Well... I saw the negative reviews. bought it anyway. It's exactly what everyone is saying. It is wayyyyy overpriced because it's buggy asf. I really like the concept though. I'm debating on keeping it just for my 8 year old to look at Dinosaurs.... but the damn price is making that a difficult choice. Don't buy this expecting anything other than what the negative reviews say... they are not exaggerating.

This is a cool VR demo with five tiny but beautiful Jurrassic park like domes. There is also a simple wave shooter section and a small dinosaur museum. It has very little content and no replay value when you have finished the game the first time. Dinosaurs are scripted and mostly does not react to your presence or your actions. Visuals are OK but slightly blurred even with high quality and Steam supersampling. Definitely not worth the asking price, but it works well as a VR demo for friends that are new to VR. Buy only when on sale!

After reading the reviews i felt this game would be utter rubbish. My 7 year old daughter and I have played it for the past 3 days (2-3 hours a day) and enjoying searching for the missing items and dino scans we needed and the whole experience is polished and fun. We are still hatching eggs and growing them which takes effort to keep them fed and time. both given gladly to see them get full size. The dinosaurs are realistic tbh a bit too much sometimes for my daughter and we play it together while the other watches on the monitor. seeing and hearing the wonder in theirs and your voice as seeing these things is amazing. There are things you can do like get in the water and put your head under and catch fish, feeding dinos to help them grow, the wave shooter in the later levels is far too difficult for a child but I stepped up and beat the dinos back . My daughter and i love this game so much and I am so glad i bought it for us to play. there are also day and night modes which means some things can only be found at night. i really cannot praise this game enough and anyone who says they completed it in a few hours and it was boring missed the point. they missed the attention detail in the small exploration areas. the way the dinos react to your presence the movement of the leaves as you brush your hand through. this is the next level of VR experience and totally worth the wait and money.
