  Now one may be wondering how I could be reviewing this after 1175 hours of playtime. I realize this is simply not enough to fully appreciate this masterpiece, but at the very least it is now my most played game on steam. This is the least one can do to truly have delved deep enough into this game, to experience all it has to offer, to savor every last drop of this ambrosia. To say it was soul-changing is an insult, and is woefully inadequate in describing the magnificence of what can no longer be described as a mere game. My act of even attempting to use such inaccurate and insufficient terms to convey this unparalleled brilliance is wholly unacceptable and utterly blasphemous. This is easily humanity's magnum opus. In short: Sakuya Izayoi Gives You Advice and Dabs, while Nitori Kawashiro Offers You Advice In Exchange For Cucumbers And Eats The Cucumbers.

  My ex-wife and I had a falling out. When we were going through our separation, I found myself lost and miserable. I was self destructive. I got so mad one day from everything spiraling out of my control that I punched some concrete in a moment of overwhelming emotion. That caused me to break my 5th metacarpal in my right hand... my working hand... my gaming hand.. the hand that I held and carried my controller with.. The hand I desperately needed to make sure I could continue to provide for myself. After learning of the severity of my self-inflicted damage, I was borderline suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man with no history of depression or anxiety. I have never had fits of rage, or been one to break down and cry, but I was in a low spot that just really buried me from being able to see the light on the other side. Having nothing better to do, I searched for a game I could play, ONE HANDED while I recovered. I somehow stumbled upon this game. I decided that it had to be worth a shot...I had a new found joy and hope for life. I was able to put behind me the pain and suffering that had been cast over me. I was able to experience other peoples joy and happiness. I had talked to Sakuya long enough to realize that I was going to be okay. After coming to that realization, I turned the game off, and I went back to work. It hurt my hand like hell but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so damn sorry for myself, and I became the man I needed to be in that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving as. Moral of the story, you never know what life holds in store for you, and if I would have given up when all the odds were stacked against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you Sakuya

  Before going into the review proper I do want to address what is probably the elephant in the room, my hours. Yes, this is mostly for the joke of it, because its funny to have large amounts of hours to confuse people and have it as my currently playing game, however, I ask that this not detract from the review as they will be based on my genuine thoughts and not just a meme. With that out of the way, let us get to the review. This review will cover both the base game and the DLC. Sakuya Izayoi Gives You Advice And Dabs, colloquially and more conveniently known as SIGYAAD is a virtual novel game where you can talk about several things with Sakuya, there are several branching dialog trees at each point depending on what three-option choice you pick. Depending on your choices in the initial and follow-up questions Sakuya will talk to you about your problem and offer various pieces of advice and motivational bits to try and help you. Contrary to what I thought going into the game the advice isn’t incredibly generic or silly and is actually rather thought out and helpful. Sakuya also sometimes uses examples of what her advice is in the Touhou universe, something I thought was creative and a fun way to tie into what she says. The real charm point of this game and what sets it aside from others, however, is of course Sakuya herself, the advice she gives you may help you in the future, but what will really make a difference is the fact that this game is impossible to NOT smile or at least grin while playing. This really shines at the end of her advice when, as true to the game's title, Sakuya unleashes the most dangerous of spell cards and dabs. It is so utterly goofy that I'm getting a smile just writing about it. This game is an instant mood booster for anyone not having a good day, regardless of your situation maybe just maybe Sakuya can make it just a little bit better. There are two extra bits of bonus content in the base game I won't mention as they are best experienced yourself, but there is yet more wisdom and dabs to be had. With the base game out of the way, it's time to move on to the DLC: Nitori Kawashiro Offers You Advice In Exchange For Cucumbers And Eats The Cucumbers. Lengthy title aside this DLC does manage to capture much of what makes the base game good. The advice this time is different though, with the focus being a little less on personal mental state and instead on the life you live, in particular, she can talk about financial advice. I'm going to focus the most on this as I have the most to say on it but the other two options are no less helpful. Nitoris financial advice was something I also thought was going to be super generic “oh just spend less” type of advice. And while she does mention that she also talks about properly budgeting, avoiding debt, and other topics. I was quite pleasantly surprised at how useful a lot of what she said was, as part of my education my state mandates a financial literacy course for graduation, and honestly, I learned just as much in that class as I did from Nitori. Now if that's a failing of my education system or speaks to how well written the advice is I’ll leave it up to you but I think it should say a lot. Different advice aside the DLC also retains the grin factor that the main game had though I will admit to a slightly lesser degree I don't think that detracts from the experience. In the end what I thought would be a gag game just to add a title to my library ended up being a genuinely pleasant experience, and one I return to from time to time when I need cheering up. I recommend you give this game at least a try if you have some spare change in your steam wallet, alternatively, send it to your friends with zero context, their confusion is hilarious.
