  In Cult of the Lamb, you take on the role of a lamb initially brought to the slaughter but was resurrected from death by an imprisoned deity called The One Who Waits and must repay your debt by building a loyal following in his name. Start by recruiting new followers to the flock, building a base for them to live in, going on bloody crusades against the otherworldly entities that trapped him and free your master. Cult of the Lamb is equal parts dungeon-crawler and religious management sim, with your tasks divided between tending to your devout flock of followers and fighting through procedurally generated dungeons. These dungeons are fairly short, consisting of several stages that players can clear to obtain valuable resources. During each stage, you will also encounter unique NPCs who can empower you with talents, offer powerful weapons, or award an assortment of stone, wood, or foodstuffs (including seeds) to cultivate your growing commune. The loop of gathering supplies, tending to your worshipers, upgrading both your character and your settlement and then going out to do it again is extremely satisfying, with a charming art style and expressive animations that bring joy to every moment of it. Cult of the Lamb is definitely a uniquely refreshing game that is highly recommended as one of the best indie game of 2022.

  PC version doesn't have rebindable controls for controller for some reason update: i have finished the game, still no rebindable controls, i can give a real review now. i wouldn't rate it negative but i wouldn't rate it positive either. this is a "eh" review. the game is two games at once and neither of them are great. the roguelike part is like 20% of the game and is very simple and shallow, there's like 5 weapons and they all play the same, its also super easy. its ok but its not as good as a real roguelike. the cult building part is 80% of the game and is a bit more fun but past the earlygame its a bit eh too. choosing what you get doesn't really matter since you'll unlock everything pretty fast, and the doctrines 90% of the time are a choice between 2 useless things and 10% of the time a choice between a busted thing and a useless thing. the randomly generated quests the followers give you are just chores like revisiting old dungeons you already completed and the reward is pretty much nothing. its ok but its not as good as a real colony builder. none of the systems in either part of the game are particularly deep. as of the time of this review, the game is still quite glitchy, though being patched by the devs. the game is about 15 hours with side content and 18 hours for a completionist run. no real replayability i'd just recommend you get a full on action roguelike if you want to play a roguelike, or a full on colony builder if you want to play a colony builder. this game does both but is not great at either of them. game is very cute tho and the soundtrack is great. like 5/10

  After fighting a boss in the early game I was given the option of berries, stone or big gift. Naturally I chose the big gift. I received 1 coin. - 10/10

  I rescued one of my followers brother and proceeded to sacrifice said brother. The follower than begged for a bowl of poop. 10/10

  One of my followers pooped where he shouldn't have. I sacrificed him and fed him to my other followers as a warning to everyone - only poop in the poop shack.

  Playing for 3 hours at 0AM like: "Ah one more hour is fine." Playing for 4 hours at 1AM like: "Ah one more hour is fine." Playing for 5 hours at 2AM like: "Ah one more hour is fine." Playing for 6 hours at 3AM like: "Damn it's getting late but one more hour." Playing for 7 hours at 4AM like: "SHEIT I really need to sleep to get up for work."

  I had a cult follower be suspicious of a newer member. Ultimately had me put him in jail. Once I realized he was innocent I sacrificed the accuser during the next ritual. 10/10 would recommend.

  this game is pretty good. its a bit buggy and i wish the combat part of it was substantially deeper, there's really no build variety so as to call it an actual "roguelite". there are also some adjustments that could be made to the town building part of the game to make it a little more cohesive/less irritating/more automated. it is still a great time. i copped it on release and played the hell out of it in the days following. i'm not done yet and i do plan on playing to completion.
