  One of the best VR experiences! Amazing graphics. Love the animals, dont miss the turtle on the beach in costa rica, diving penguins in antarctica. Thoroughly enjoying so far. The races will give you a workout! Overall 10/10! Of note, felt some motion sickness after an hour of play, given the waves, so for those prone to motion sickness be mindful of that.

  I own over 100 VR titles. After playing some of the big hits, I never thought any new VR game would be anywhere near as good as some of the top hits. But I bought this game the second it came out and I Just want to list some things below that made this one of the best if not the best VR experience i've ever had. This game has: - The most amazing graphics i've ever seen in any video game (VR or not) - The most amazing physics i've ever seen in a virtual reality game The physics in this game are amazing, I could not find a single flaw in the physics of this game. Whether the game is on sale or not. I can not recommend anymore than to buy this game. I look forward to playing all the levels and am excited for future updates.

  Kayak VR: Mirage is a very beautiful, if not the most beautiful VR game to date. The environments look so good that it was a jaw-dropping moment the first time I saw it, even when I played a shit ton of VR games before. Content-wise you get a total of four different environments where you can play race mode (basically time trial) or free roam. There is a total of 11 race tracks across those four environments. Most of those take you 1-3 minutes to complete, but there are also two longer ones which take more like 5-12 minutes, depending on the player. There is NO multiplayer at the moment, don't get confused by the screenshots on the store page. You can turn on ghosts of other players (nearby players, friends, your own best) if you'd like. An actual multiplayer is still planned by the devs, but they have yet to announce any details or a release window. On all maps you can select daytime and night which is a nice addition. The most fun thing has been the thunderstorm though, which is only available in one environment, sadly. It looks incredible and also impacts the gameplay because of higher waves and faster flow of the water. It would be nice to see this for other maps too. Considering the visual quality of the game, it also performs pretty good and has a lot of options, also including Fidelity FX, DLSS and optional anti aliaising (MSAA or TAA). While the gameplay is a lot of fun, I only played some short sessions because it can get exhausting pretty quickly, at least in race mode. For more immersion and better/ easier gameplay, it would probably be best to play this with a broomstick or something where you can attach your controllers to. I didn't have the chance to try this though. The current price seems fair for what you get, even if the replay value might be limited. If you only want to play multiplayer, you might wanna wait until they actually add it to the game.

  WOW!!! You have created something really special here. I sim race in VR across most of the main titles and am in VR daily across steam via a PC and oculus stand alone and more titles than my bank manager would care for me to mention. This is instantly one of my favourite places to be. It is gorgeous. The physics are spot on to real life. The environmental interaction. This caters for: Meditation/mindfulness Exercise training competitive element racing Graphics benchmarking for GPUs It's so open to amazing mods too. Just think of what holodia has done for rowing, with some tweaks you could really develop this concept. Open worlds, mods Multiplayer for either competition or simply as a place to meet up with your mates and explore. Honestly this ticks so many boxes for me I am very grateful to the devs for making this happen. PLEASE keep developing and expanding this game!!!

  Here is my review after 4 hours of play: tl;dr game is very good! If you have a VR headset and a decent PC then you should definitely buy this game, even in this fairly limited release incarnation it is still very much worth the asking price. [b]Pros:[/b] - [b]water[/b]: it's a game about Kayaking, you spend ALL of the time on the surface of the water, so the water is very important... fortunately the developers clearly realised this and must have put an extreme amount of effort into the water simulation. It looks, and reacts just like real water! The water physics, caustics, waves, transparency etc. and just the overall art style and look is super realistic… easily the best I have ever seen. Almost photo realistic… and all this in VR! What higher praise is there? - [b]level design and art style[/b]: also really great, the rock formations are incredibly realistic. They look unique and do not repeat. Textures look photo realistic from middle/far distance. Only when you get up quite close do they appear a little muddy/low res. - [b]physics[/b]: are great, it feels good to paddle, which is important as you spend most of your time doing this currently. You can use the paddle to push yourself away from river banks, rocks, shallows etc. All works great. Most foliage is interactive and will react very realistically to your paddle, for example if you brush against a fern or some reeds they will bend and move out of the way accordingly. - [b]sound and music[/b] is very well done, each level has it's own music which fits the feel of the environment well. Wave sounds and paddle sounds are good too. - [b]performance[/b] is good. I have a decent spec PC (9900k, RTX 3090) and I can max out the settings in this game, and set the in game render resolution to 1.7x and it never drops a frame, silky smooth. This is more than I can say for most VR games I have played. [b]Cons:[/b] - [b]limited environments[/b] so far. There are 4 environments but you will very quickly come to know them all very well. I hope more variety will be added in future. For a launch state it is fine, especially at this price but it would be great to have some new levels added at some point. - [b]limited secondary activities[/b]: basically here you can kayak, but nothing else. For a launch state that is fine but I think the developers will need to diversify the in game activities a little to hold players attention and round out the experience. They have this stunningly beautiful world with not a lot to do in it outside of just paddling around. - [b]UI/menus[/b]: very basic and functional at best, essentially just floating white text :) This is one area that does need improvement. Personally I feel that made for VR titles with physicalized menus (ie. actually part of the world geometry) work best. Leave 2D menus for flat screen games. - [b]some blurry textures[/b]: textures can look a little blurry/low res when you get up close to the surface of a rocks/tree etc. From far/middle distance they look amazing, but not up very close. Overall, a very good VR experience and a worthy purchase. I wish the devs all the best for their future plans for this game and I shall be keeping a close eye on how it evolves over time.

  This has been on my wish-list for ages so it was an immediate purchase on release. One of the reasons it was on my wish-list is that I look after a girl who has Cerebral Palsy and who's movement is extremely limited (wheelchair bound, limited use of arms). She also has learning difficulties and is non-verbal and has no concept of language whatsoever. She loves the sea so I thought this may appeal to her and give her an experience it would otherwise be impossible for her to have. She was totally mesmerized and spellbound by the water and on seeing penguins and an Orca as she floated in her own little world with a huge smile on her face. I got an almighty growl when I took off the VR headset. I think visiting the worlds in this game has (already) become a thing now. :-) Thanks to the developers, you have allowed her to get away from her disabilities and see the world in a brand new way that otherwise would have been denied her.
