First, let me advise that you should NOT just buy the game based on the thumbs up. I highly encourage you to read through the review before purchase. "Cloud Meadow" is a good game at it's core with a VERY rocky development history. The smut of the situation, if you want it, I give so you can have some idea of what to perhaps build expectations:
The game has been in development for YEARS, partially because the current build is actually not the 1st attempt at it. Long ago, a 'disagreement' occured with the main developer and the art staff, leaving the project to be abandoned just after it had started getting a following. I don't recall the details of why, but the project was left abandoned for a year or so before resuming development under the current team and iteration. I do not know if the current dev team are the ones who previously worked on it. The art style, however, is way different and in my opinion, better.
Apart from this, current development has been going for a couple of years and is primed for Patreon, with Patreon getting the better end of the deal when it comes to being kept up-to-date on what happens and in order to report bugs. There are alot of questions in discussions that ask when does the game update? The devs say "we are aiming for every 3-4 months". "Cloud meadow" itself is set in a fantasy world of high magic where humans are actually incapable of harnessing it. Monster species, however, have no issues and in fact are capable of being a source of this magic. The human's role in all this is that over time, monsters breeding with monsters can cause them to go feral since they feed off of the magic from one another. If a monster breeds with a human tho, the magic is dampened and the resulting offspring is of the monster species the human bred with. This allows humans to become an integral part of breeding and agriculture for monster species and humans that take on the position of farming and breeding monsters has a great place of respect. Doubly so if that farmer takes on the role of exploration as a Frontiersman. You, the player, will take on the role of a new Frontiersman, as the gender of your choice, for the town of Cloud Meadow right on the edge of the current known world. You will farm crops, breed monsters with one another or with yourself and explore nearby floating islands for new monsters, supplies and money along with glory and fame. Graphically, the game has alot of eye candy with colorfully illustrated towns and people, the assortment of characters having a variety of body-types and being of a variety of races. Sex in the game is done with very well made animations, being different for both male and female characters. The farming system is in-depth as is the breeding system as well. During exploration, you can take your farm stock along to fight at your side or recruit characters from town to come along with you. Combat is basic turn base with action bars to show who is close to having thier turns and the varied movesets that have turn based cooldowns. Each character has thier own unique turnset or play mechanics: The yeti shopkeep has an 'iceheart' mechanic that affects his speed and damage output while he toggles between attack and defensive modes. The Ogress farmer carries a HUGE caber with her that serves as both her weapon and her sources of snacks to both heal herself and control her "Hangry" meter since her moveset makes her hungry. Always... Eating... The Pluses and Minuses: +++ The art style is topnotch and the animations are erotic and smooth. This is high quality stuff! -- The font of the game is ATROCIOUS and cannot be controlled. This REALLY needs to be fixed since the font size is different depending on what you're looking at. Even on fullscreen, there are instances where the font is UNREADABLE. ++ The battle mechanic of the game is very interesting since every character has thier own devoted moveset and mechanics. For your breedables, it depends more on thier species and thier breeding. -- Bugs in some places can be frustrating. Day 3, I was sealed off from my barn by an event which meant monster breeding was off the table for now. It was the introduction of the dungeon islands, and so I went since the airship captain stated I could return at any time... If only that were true. I can't get back on the ship in order to go back to town for rest and restock and I'm out of healing items!! Overall, the game is decent, but lacking polish and has a few hang-ups that can affect your experience. I still advise on getting the game, but until the devs can treat Steam users with the same level of respect they give thier Patreons and fix some of the more annoying/frustrating bugs, I'd advise to wait until the game goes on sale to purchase.

I'd recommend not buying this game unless you're looking at this review many years in the future. The game is extremely low on content and game play, and the development is at a snails pace, with an average of 2 real updates a year. After 4 years of taking people's money they've completed 2 floors of a dungeon and a broken farm.

Dev locks stuff away from Steam customers while their Patreon customers get the full game. If I knew this was going to happen I would never have bought this game.

Over two years of development and barely any actual progress has been made. Game is still Early Access, devs throw out a tiny update every once in a while that usually breaks your save file or wipes your monster data, forcing you to start over from scratch. Patreon supporters are given access to cheats that mitigate this data loss while people who have purchased via Steam are told "Cheats are supposed to be a reward for community support." and left with no option but to repeatedly start over from scratch whenever an update is released. Seems to me that the devs are simply banking on Patreon donations (literally) and using the "Early Access" designation as a means of being paid to do next to nothing. I had some high expectations for this game but none of them have been met in the two years since it dropped. At this point I'm just gonna request a refund.

So, almost two years ago I bought Cloud Meadow out of sheer curiosity: adult games, especially so gorgeous and with gay/furry content, were relatively rare for Steam, thus my interest was only natural. However, I was very quick to be disappointed: despite the fun premise, game's story ended after just two hours, gameplay clearly wasn't polished that well and was riddled with crucial, well-know bugs. The monster breeding became my biggest drawback, since it had no real purpose, art and animations were limited, and monsters themself felt pretty plain. Romantic interests shared similar issues, since the very system of relationships was yet to be implemented. Getting intro Cloud Meadow again, I was very optimistic for its development, but my hopes fell flat. After exploring the game for a full season cycle, I am still yet to learn a single substantial change in any of its core mechanics. Yes, we had Palette Update, more events with adult scenes, even some progress regarding the main plot — and none of this revokes the point I made two yeas ago: this is not a game, but a mere alpha-built, an idea of a game that may be finished, someday. I do believe Cloud Meadow's core problem lies within its very concept: as fun as the idea of dungeon crawler and Stardew Valley-esque farming simulator looks on paper, it manifests itself utterly poorly. Don't get me wrong, it has its moments, such as the fact every character, including monsters, is genuinely unique in combat. For instance, some can block attacks and protect allies, others would bring havoc on large groups of enemies, some can transform intro completely different forms and so on. Despite that, however, the game's only dungeon is very uninspiring, with uninteresting enemies, barely existing puzzles, even critical, game-breaking bugs (this time its jumps on the fourth floor that can easily soft-lock you). Its structure is very linear and just too enormous to not become tedious fairly quickly. However, developers hardly see it this way: dungeon is being filled with new levels while farming aspect is being completely ignored. Yoten is supposed to be one of two datable characters so far, but his rout was stagnating for two years: your relationships will never go further than the first date, and sometimes even casual actions, such as stocking with him, could be bugged. I didn't even bother to check on Fio: she is just extremely unlikable from the very first dialog. I do believe shortage of competent writers to be the culprit here: all new texts in the game are fairly mediocre in quality, and writer's attempt to incite deep, politically-driven drama sounds ridiculous, especially considering it supposed to be a casual dialog. There are also a problem with artists, since no new animated scenes were made after the initial launch, only the pixelated ones of various quality (please, give us twink Krampus being bred in HD). Monster breeding is an interesting mechanic in theory, although it wears off relatively quickly: special traits (Herculean, Breeder's Dream, etc) are few and far between, and Fertility V is nothing but a curse. Furthermore, monsters themselves have no personality and no specific needs. You easily can feed bread to catboy, and leave him in a stable in storm. Meaty crops already exist in the game, and I see no reason why can't I build a new barn, for instance. Palette update was fun, though. Seasonal events are bad, with the Autumn one being the worst, laziest, most tedious piece of game I have ever seen: you are exploring the same dungeon and fighting ghostly enemies, which are also exactly the same, but with an evasion perk. Sebastian's gift allows you to become a ghost with 20% dodge chance, but, in my experience, enemies have it much, much higher. They also retain their damage and HP, so good luck with that. Winter event, as uninspiring as it is, is the best, for just one simple reason: twink Krampus. Spring is the default season in the game, with others overlapping the standard terrain and creating a fair amount of lagging. Also, later floors and farms with many monsters are also subjects to lag. For some reason, recent UI update made my game run significantly worse as well. Combined with a strange control, sometimes it feels like you are fighting the game for the simplest of tasks. Farming mechanic is fairly simple, but I wouldn't say it makes it bad. While it would be nice to have more depth, there is nothing wrong with being simple, Upon completing the entire year, graduating my first monsters, expanding the farm to its limit and playing this game for almost 100 hours, I can state with utmost certainty: dungeon crawler is not just an unnecessary addition to the game, but a dead weight on its shoulders. It consumes an enormous amount of resources from the game, offering very plain, uninspiring and buggy playground instead of furthering the story, properly implementing affection system, adding new monsters and more depth to farming and breeding. I don't think the game would be better without this dungeon — I know it for a fact, and I genuinly can't comprehend the reasons why developers not only prioritise it before anything else, but believe it to be the easiest feature to implement. Not HD scenes, not new monsters, not romances we were waiting for years, not even few different lines of text for NPCs, but an absolutely pointless, boring and plain dungeon. To put it shortly, I do think Cloud Meadow could become an amazing, beautiful game, if developers abandon dungeon, dead weight on their shoulders, in favor of many more essential and easier features to implement. However, I am still not so sure they will manage to complete the game even then: Cloud Meadow has been missing its core mechanics for years, and the implemented ones have a lot to be desired,

As a big disclaimer, this game is still very incomplete. It looks to have been in the works for years and likely will remain that way for a while yet, so if waiting's not your jam, you'll probably want to keep an eye on it in your wishlist for now. I was so excited to see a farming/dating hybrid with an adult spin in the works. It's incredibly difficult to find hentai games that cater to, at least partially in Cloud Meadow's case, women, so when I saw this I knew I had to grab it. I was really impressed with the character designs first and foremost. While some of the more exaggerated proportions might not be everyone's cup of tea, I almost didn't care because of how charming and different they all are. There's just something very appealing about them. There are a myriad of gorgeous animations for both the male and female protagonists, with both straight and gay options available for all pairings. All 18+ scenes are also consensual. Admittedly I was a bit concerned about the monster raising aspect and how that tied in with the breeding system, but every breedable/romanceable character in this world passes the Harkness Test. The farming and crafting system itself is fairly standard, with one big difference: rather than relying on produce and cooking to make ends meet, the bulk of your profits in this game will come from monsters. Produce and cooked meals in Cloud Meadow are used primarily to keep your barn-dwelling pals happy and healthy while they provide you with byproducts like fangs, feathers, milk and essence, the latter of which you can both use as fertilizer and sell for a hefty sum if you time it properly. Other than the adult content, another thing this title offers that makes it a little different from other farming games is that there's also a robust combat/adventure element. You can take your monsters or other characters from town down to the mines with you to battle your way through hordes of feral monsters, pirates and other foes as you make your way through and explore different floors. This is how you advance through the story portion of the game. The actual dating/romance aspect is still in its infancy and as a whole really hasn't been implemented yet. At present, only Yonten and Fio are romanceable with a single date each, and I'm personally really hoping for a much more in-depth relationship system, with marriage and events that tie into and give context to their respective animations. One of my favorite features of farming/life sims has always been the ability to befriend, romance and eventually marry your bachelor(ette) of choice, and I'm dearly hoping Cloud Meadow eventually follows that trend. All in all, I adore this game so far. It's unlike anything I've played previously, and I'm really looking forward to seeing its completed state!
