  One of the best immersive narrative games in existence. I played this back on the PS3 and even had the steelbook slipcase. So many good memories but also can only be played a few times because of all the emotional weight that comes with it. All the actors play their roles to perfection and the gameplay is simple enough to not be too hard. Quantic Dream proves they can make film experiences in gaming format every single time. Get this while it's on sale along with Heavy Rain and Detroit.

  The story is really good. That is the only positive thing I can say about this game. The controls are terrible. It's like the devs took what was good about Heavy Rain and said "No!" If you're not a fan of QTE's in games,. this is not for you. If you are a fan this still may not be for you. Many of the QTE's pop up with no on screen prompt and a very small window to react which leads to, at least for me, about a 50% success rate as you find yourself guessing way more often that you should. Luckily, there isn't a lot of weight placed on the wrong choice being made as the game is pretty forgiving. It's just more annoying than anything. I found myself yelling "What do you want from me game??" way more than usual. Often, the game expects you to dodge something suddenly. During these times there are no on screen prompts to aid you in determining what direction to dodge. Common sense dictates that if something is coming at you from the left that you should dodge to the right, or any other direction that is not the left. Common sense looses in these situations as more times than not, the game for some reason expected you to dodge towards the giant item falling towards you. It's just weird. In addition to the un-intuitive controls, the camera... oh boy. The camera. If you like looking in front of your character as you move around in games, this is not for you. If you're a fan of looking at your characters face while trying to see where you're going, you're going to love this. Combining actually terrible camera controls with the obnoxious always on letterbox is not a great combination. It's very constricting. I can not emphasize enough that it was only the story that kept me playing until the end. Nothing else about this game is worth your time.

  This game is the most unique in my huge library of Steam (and non-Steam) titles and is definitely a must-play. It used to be there in my PlayStation wishlist for a few years, then on my Steam wishlist, and then waited in my library at the top of the list of games I wanted to play. Now that I did play it, I'm glad I picked it. I played in the original sequence (not the chronological order), and boy it is a roller coaster ride! The levels (or episodes, if I may) occur at different points in the timeline of the story, and you're taken back and forth between every single chapter, so you have to merge it all in your mind to get a clear picture of what the character is going through during a particular chapter. The game features several genres in one, some of which include: point-and-click adventure, action, horror, stealth, slight puzzle-solving, driving, and many more. I played it on Linux on my relatively older hardware and yet was able to run it at 4K with reasonable framerates. Gladly I also used my Steam controller, and the game made me realize all the capabilities my controller had by making me perform those gestures that I do not remember I've ever used in a video game. During the start of the game when I realized that there are multiple choices, I decided to give it at least one more playthrough, but with the few episodes being very touchy, I doubt I would ever be able to pick it up and go through the emotional adventure again, especially given how many untouched titles I have in my library (at least at the time of this writing). Also, I'm not sure if I'd want to go through those few tearful moments again, as you might call me weak, but I consider myself over-emotional with this kind of content. If I were to play it again, I'd go in chronological order, and make sure I pick the choices I didn't go with during my first playthrough. This isn't a video game, in fact, an emotional interactive story that you can drive with the decisions your character makes. There are combat scenes that need time-based input, but failing them doesn't deter you from the story much as the game is smart enough to bring you back to the major story no matter how you play it. I love the attention to detail in the game. One example is how the face of Jodie changes on the menu screen depending on the episode you're playing. This was very noticeable for me as I barely ever have the time to play for more than an hour. I know this is probably my lengthiest review on Steam, but TLDR; I cannot recommend this game enough.
