Anomalous Funciones

Anomalous takes place in Kosolov. A grim industrial city. Kosolov is a highly controlled and secretive society. It's an industrialized nation. With overwhelming authority and a devotion to its leaders, the citizens endlessly work to death. A hard divide between the secretive upper society and the majority brainwashed working class ensures continuation. Effectively shunned from the rest of the world, leaders of Kosolov have been free to fast-track their unethical scientific experiments to enhance their tyrannical military capabilities and workforce.

To create the ultimate controllable and mindless workforce Kosolov had put in place a plan to revive the dead and set them back to work - benefitting from an already high mortality rate. Scientists have attempted mechanical implants, regenerative biomass, and a host of bizarre experiments. With numerous unforeseen consequences resulting in a catastrophic disaster, the only thing left to do is battle your way out of the city.

Anomalous in current early access contains the first episode of the game which contains 15 levels.

Okay so I haven't finished the EA episode yet, but I've played a bunch of the levels and I wanted to chime in since there aren't many reviews available at this time. Anomalous is a hardcore retro-styled FPS (Boomer Shooter) that takes inspiration from games such as Doom, Quake, Unreal, and Half Life. Fans of that genre (and Dusk, Amid Evil, Ultrakill) will probably like this game. It's worth the price of admission. At this point (EA launch day), the game is very rough around the edges. Anomalous was developed by mostly one guy and it definitely has that solo-dev jank. The graphics and sound are fine for what it is. The trailer and screenshots are faithful to what you get. The game ran fine on my machine (i7-6700K, GTX 1080) pegged at the FPS limit of 120. Lighting is perhaps a bit too shiny. Sound effects are obnoxiously meaty. The movement is really great. I like the retro style speed tech (you can bunny hop!). The weapons are fun to use and feel weighty. The roughest part are the enemies. They glitch out a lot. Every level one manages to freeze in place or get stuck outside the level geometry. Their designs pretty cool but nothing special. However they are very hard to see and they don't have distinctive sound effects. The game is pretty tough on higher difficulties, so bring your hardcore FPS chops. All in all, there are many things about this game that will have to improve during the EA period, but Anomalous gets so many key things right, it really deserves a play. Looking forward to the rest of it!
For just 3.99 that's pretty epic, buy it now !
Anomalous is a really promising indie solo developer project. Good gunplay, it's fast paced and the weapons are satisfying to use. The graphics may not be top tier but they get the job done. Performances were rock solid during my playthrough, no framedrops with everything on epic, it's well optimized. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2716551237 I legit had some Half Life 2 dystopia vibes during few levels, cool aesthethics. The level design is interesting and well done so far, many twisted paths, lot of verticality with a nice implementation of jump pads. If you like non stop mayhem then you'll have a good time here, during gunfights there is a lot of destructible objects and decent gore effects. Blood decals and gibs can still be improved though, would be better if the blood was the same quality that what we can see in the meat level. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2716552432 The game also have a nice heavy metal soundtrack, always a plus in my eyes. I experienced few minor bugs like the music would stop working or some ennemies can glitch and become invincible. I suggest adding ambient music or divide current tracks in different loops to create a dynamic music system that trigger when entering gunfights. Anyway I really enjoyed this early access sneak peak and I hope the dev do not abandon the project because it's pretty good so far ! It took me around two hours to complete and I enjoyed it quite a lot. Anomalous is not perfect and need lot of work but it is already well worth the purchase. Boomer approved. ✔️ https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2716551882
Early access rating 7/10.

favorite level: Kosolov

Rating
7/10
Intro
So far, this is a good sign of things to come. If you love games like Amid Evil, Dusk and Ion Fury, this game is for you.
Positives
+ Great soundtrack. + Good level design. + Good replay value. + Good aesthetics and graphics.
Negatives
- Armor doesn't carry over from the previous level. - There are too many reflections. For a game trying to look retro, there's lot of that here and it makes the game visually noisy.

I love Guns-blazing games like this where you go in and just tear some shit up, It reminds me of Doom with its play style and i love the graphics of it, super early 2000's type of Unreal Tournament vibe. 10/10, amazing for early access and cant wait for more content

First of all, the good: -The production design I quite like! Specially the entrance to the first forest level and the buildings plagued with the red glowing roots and interior designs are aesthetically pleasing. -The sound design. The weapons sound great and feel satisfying to shoot. -Music is your average run of the mill Doom-Like heavy metal, with some synthwave mixed to add some identity. Now on to the bad: -Enemy design feels uninspired and generic, there are some exceptions like the flying enemy you encounter early on. However, faceless goo zombies, killer robots, HL head crabs and low poly CSGO player models are painfully average. -The enemies are bullet sponges that only know one command: Go forward and attack. They don't dodge, they don't strife their path to make it fun to shoot at. They also bug quite often, sometimes keeping their attack animation after you've already dealt with them. -While the level design is pretty, it lacks practicality. You can pretty much clear the level of enemies once to find yourself traveling through a level which is sometimes unnecesarily too big, with no music and no enemies respawning when you do the backtrack to the door you where supposed to open. -The music, while enjoyable will randomly stop and not loop again. -Weapons are pretty generic, basically sticking to shotguns and machineguns. There's a sniper riffle that lacks utility and purpose considering that all enemies will just charge at you the moment they spot you. And even then, you can't range kill any of them since they spawn in the area you currently are. -When I saw the speed meter next to armor and health, I thought it was linked to a mechanic that I had yet to discover, seems like it is there just because. -There's a very annoying particle system when shooting walls or floors that spawns huge gray blocks that block your vision. When using the shotgun they're very annoying since some pellets will inevitably hit the enviroment, perhaps is a bug and not a creative decision. -There are a lot of bugs, which I expect from a early access game, so I won't go too harsh on them. Enough to say that I encountered that some enemies spawn in invisible places, I can hear them attack, but can't find them anywhere. The game shows promise but not at it's current state. There are better retro-shooters in the platform that are still in early acces that offer more original and clever mechanics like this one like Prodeus, Forgive Me Father or Ultrakill. I wish the best of lucks to the developer! I will update my review when the game is complete!
