Advanced Tactics Gold Özellikler

Based on the award winning game engine by the same name, Advanced Tactics: Gold offers a unique and infinitely replayable wargaming experience for any strategy fan. Building off of the enormous success of Advanced Tactics: World War II, the Gold edition gives players a more powerful game editor, much improved random game engine, many new features and abilities, and more. Advanced Tactics: Gold also comes with an updated manual and ever-changing and expanding wiki, a freshly revamped scenario bank, new graphics throughout the game, more troop types, as well as some new scenarios. VR Designs has also been hard at working listening to player feedback, so Advanced Tactics: Gold also comes with many incremental changes and improvements based on community feedback!

But perhaps the most exciting feature in Advanced Tactics: Gold is the near limitless potential for replayability. The strong mod community will be able to create engaging, rich scenarios with the vastly improved editor, and players looking to hop straight into the action can enjoy a much improved random game experience that comes with many new rules, actions, and gameplay mechanics.

Features

More than a decade ago I played a freeware game called People's Tactics. It was a wonderful, deep turn based strategy game, where your units had supply and supply lines, different transport means that could make your units or supplies move faster/further, artillery, air support, etc. A decade later, I found Shadow Empire, a deep and engaging 4X/wargame/card game that kept me glued to my seat. This year I found Advanced Tactics and it dawned on me that the developer that made Shadow Empire was the same guy that made People's Tactics, VR Designs (this title being pretty much halfway between the other two). Advanced tactics is a more polished and deep version or People's Tactics, and has some of the same mechanics as Shadow Empire (only the wargame part, not the card, diplomacy, etc), but unlike Shadow Empire you can play shorter runs, or pre-made scenarios, as well as making procedural maps with a tool that feels like a prototype version of the procedural world building part of Shadow Empire. The graphics, although you could argue have some charm to them, are as ugly as war itself, but if you can get over that, Advanced Tactics is a game that will keep any wargamer entertained. There's also a bunch of MODs, including graphic replacement and historical scenarios. (For some reason most MODs are only available on the developers website, no Steam Workshop or MODDB, Nexus, etc) For anyone interested, the game runs without any extra tinkering in Linux via Proton. FYI: read Liddell Hart, or about Blitzkrieg or Deep Operation, the game is designed around WW2 maneuver warfare, so learning about it is the way to win. The game is great, but I'd wait for a sale, since it's a decade old game.. Edit: Previously I stated the game was no longer getting updates, but vic, the developer, was so kind as to tell me Advanced Tactics Gold has gotten updates.

It might look rather simple, But its not. It has a quite deep tactical gameplay. Supplies for units. ore for production of various units you can use in divisions. oil for motorized units, carefull tho once you run out of oil your war machine stops to a grinding halt, tanks and motorized units can barely move, any aircraft is grounded. It has a small learning curve but once you know what every button does its fairly easy. It also has a random map generator with quite alot of settings. you can even have a civilization alike game. you start with 1 city and HQ with a few units Cities and factories produce units, wich you can mix and match in self cuztomized divisions. Different terrains with different stats. And thats not even all of it, It would be too many to name. However all this fun stuff comes pared with a rather funky outdated UI, Alot of time consuming gameplay and tons of micromanagement. Overall a 8/10 - would run out of oil during an operation again.

This is a great hex based strategy game. The AI is a good opponent too! I wish my friend would buy this so we could play against each other. Its fun to play matches against multiple AI enemies. The customizable random world map makes for lots of replayability too. Lots of different units (just simple tokens on the map) that are upgradable to more powerful versions (fighter III, etc)

Just awesome, best wargame around Also just want to add that there are a lot of scam/spam negative reviews for some reason. Steam should delete them. BUT this game is the best wargame I've ever played, and that's saying a lot. It is so flexible and versatile and really not that hard to come to grips with. One you learn the hotkeys, things become a snap.

A really great game, it is my favorite game, and here's why... Random Games The random games and the editor allows you to play this for a decade straight, every random games match has led to a completely different match, and can be randomized more with the ability to choose size, age (How flat the terrain is, older is flatter), weather (None, or Tropical to Arctic), and more Editor The editor is very, very powerful, it (As in the description of the game) is very versitile, all you have to do is, a couple clicks of a button, and nearly everything is able to be changed, or replaced all together. Rulvars allow you to change the rules of the game, SFT's allow you to add or take away units from the game, Items allow you to change how you build the SFT's or resources. The editor is also ingame, and on the main menu! Custom Scenarios There are base scenarios to choose from, but many of them are the classic version of the game, Advanced Tactics, however some have the rules and SFT's of Advanced Tactics Gold. The scenario bank though, at VRdesighns.net, allows much more ability to choose a specific scenario of your choice, also there are mods that change the graphics, the Units, and the timeline of the game New Dawn- New Dawn allows much more in the singleplayer and multiplayer experience. Generals adds a personilization feel of the game, with the ability to change the name of them and name them Bob, for example. The Tables of Orginization and Equipment (TOE) system allows much less micro and allows you to have a specific template for units. The SFT designer, in New Dawn allows you to make Armor/Armour of your own. Flaws- Of course, every game has its flaws. Interface is crowded (Hardcore Strategy fans will most likely deal with that) Bad AI- The AI can't even handle supply well! Bad Graphics- of course, the game has outdated graphics, but cut it some slack, the most recent graphics update was in 2011 when ATG came out! Compare the graphics to HOI3 if you want a somewhat realistic graphics comparison Bad tutorial- The game lacks an ingame tutorial, of course DasTactic, and the strategy guide will help a lot with that. Overall, the game is very good, after the begining stages of learning, you will like this game, and with a helpful community on MatrixGames forums, and the Editor and scenarios, this game is really great

This game is very good. I recommend it on sale for sure. PROS Solid 4x gameplay, production system is very nice. TONS of replayability.... map generator is great Lot of options.... you create your own divisions, outfit them however you like. There's room to try any strategy you can think of really. Easy to learn... I figured it out pretty fast, it looks intimidating but its actually not bad at all. Just watch a couple youtube videos, there are also tutorial scenerios. Moddable! Great supply system Lot of combat options... probing attacks... air/arty support...entrenchment...encirclement Multiplayer support Decent tutorial / training scenerios cons UI takes some getting used to. Mouse wheel should be able to zoom instead of clicking a button Icons should be larger. More tooltips should be there. Learning the hotkeys is essential (not many) Outdated PBEM multiplayer Tutorials could be better.

This is a fantastic game. If you ever wanted to try a strategy board wargame, but were always intimidated by the hobby and the games seemed clunky, the rules too long, the gameplay too boring.... GET THIS GAME. This game's gimmick is that it sets up random map procedurally generated map, per your specifications. You want 1 AI or 11? You want to play allied with AI, teams, or free for all? Think of this game as RTS that is turnbased. Especially with "1 city start" (my favorite), you start owning 1 city/base (cities are production centers) and have to build up units to explore the map, take over other cities and land, and meanwhile tech up and build up your army to be ready for the AI which is doing the same thing. I am a grognard, I immediately disliked the idea of this game as I usually play historical WW2 games, monsters like War in the East by Gary Grigsby, and I can tell you that I WAS WRONG about this gem. This game is awesome! And the procedurally generated maps work very well, also! Highly, highly recommended. I might even write a steam guide to help new players in. This game is SUPER CHEAP - just get it if you're interested at all in board wargaming with a VERY GOOD AI. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. PS There are a few scenarios included in the game, build by people/fans, on 1941 WW2 Barbarossa campaign. People still play those online human vs humna via PBEM and then this becomes a proper WW2 game.

An excellent wargame with surprisingly competent AI as long as the navy isn't important. For some reason you have to go into the map editor if you want to pick the nation you play as- otherwise it's random which I find totally idiotic. The modding scene for this game is pretty great but I hope to see a workshop page added sometime in the future. The best thing about ATG is that you can play it any way you want- it can be anything from a civ-like experience to a highly realistic simulation of ww2 theaters. The most interesting aspect of the game for me is the focus on infrastructure and supply. The side that has a developed railway supplying and reinforcing their troops have a serious edge- and cutting off the enemy's supply corridor is the only way to ensure victory. The 'New Dawn' update added the Table of Equipment and Organization which allows you to create self-reinforcing units that are composed exactly the way you want them, which cuts down on micro-management without taking away control- making this one of my favourite strategy games.

The successor to 2004's free and fun People's Tactics. (The latter is still playable even on Win10 by the way, and despite a bad UI can serve as a good intro to the concepts in this game, which has very arid tutorials.) Advanced Tactics is a deep and unique wargame engine with an emphasis on supply and chain of command. You get to obtain resources from strategic points on the map, build your own units, organize them in formations, assign them to an HQ and send them to the front. It has a lot of included scenarios, but it's great fun to just generate a random map (use the "A New Dawn" mode to get the latest ruleset) and fight against the competent AI. There's a scenario bank run by author available online, though be aware that not all scenarios on there are using the rules from the latest version of the game (but they should still run), and that not all of them are playable by the AI - you'll need to find opponents on the Matrix Games forum. Some of these mods are truly on an insane scale. The only things I feel it's missing is a long fictional campaign like in People's Tactics (sometimes I don't feel like playing historical stuff) and the ability to play in a window. Caveat: the AI is competent on land (though not a challenge to very experienced players or if you exploit every flaw) but is game-breakingly bad on water. Maps with a lot of water are better played against humans. The AI does use transports and will attempt to use other naval units but will make very weird attacks where it has no chance to win, and doesn't know how to use carriers at all. If it is landlocked, it will waste a lot of time fortifying it's starting island before it starts sending transports to nearby islands, by which point it will be at a severe resource disadvantage. You'll also get quite a bit of immersion-breaking as it ignores unclaimed islands with Raw and Oil resources nearby, but that's because the AI has unlimited amounts of those resources to keep it simpler. IMO it should at least seize those to deny them to the player. Technical downsides: - The game insists on requiring admin rights on startup, likely for some custom DRM/key validation scheme. Bad from a security point of view and could be annoying for various use cases such as remote play. I can't remember another game that does that from my massive library. - No windowed mode, no real way to play the game on a second screen. - Loud sound effects with little control over the volume.

Advanced Tactics Gold. Well. Nothing golden really, but a big, bloody, cheating KI. That's the secret. Nothing else. I love this kind of games, even gave this one over 300 hours. But the cheating KI is killing the fun in it. Every great plans fails, whatever you plan, the KI is there already, with more troops or at least digged in better troops. AND with more resources which brings in the cheating part. Either you decide at the beginning to push "infrastructure", e.g. build tracks, upgrade RAW and OIL(which i usually do) OR you start straight upgrading your troops, making them better, harder to kill. Unfortunately the Dev decided to let the KI massively cheat to be a good enemy. But it is, very honestly, just tireing, getting beaten all the time by more troops on a better level having more resources. Slowly I feel like the Germans in WW2(just that they still had the much much better technology, you do not have that edge in that game). Overhelmed, overpowered, outrun, having everyone declaring war on you in round 1 or latest in round 2(even from the other end of the map). That means at the end you will fight everyone(for instance, I like big maps, 7-8 KI players). The KI will just turn on each other if they have a border together(which makes some kind of sense), BUT everyone will turn against you. Well done Dev. Not just only the KI is cheating, no, the help each other by declaring all together war on you, the human player. Never have seen anything bad as that, and I played multiple battles. At the end I will, most likely , start a battle against only 1 KI enemy on a huge map. So I will easiely beat it because it will just cheat resource wise but has no "friends" to join in and help to kill me on a 2 or even 3 frontal war. The basic idea of this game is fantastic, but the Dev realised it in a very bad way. Instead of making ADG better he decided to move on, making the Decisive Campaign Series, which is, IMHO, a boring piece of you know what. Others think different, me not. Now he is working(instead of making ATG finally better) again on a new game, get the draft? Milking the cow till she drops dead I want to say. Others may differ, but hell, this is MY review of this addictive, but cheating and unfair game. If you are really a fan of that game style, get it in a sale(like the Decisive Campaign Series which is not worth full price). For all others - turn around and run. You will not like it.... To bad it is so unpopular that there are even no good mods around that make it playable SP.... such a wasted, fantastic idea. Update: 12.11.17 Another try - again the usual, above mentioned cheating. Well. So, there I am, surrounded as usual, but prepared(for what it is worth it). As usual the KI has more, better, motorized units. God knows HOW it is managing that with so less RAW available(the ingame resource + oil). So, I try to create a "bubble", try to punch through a weak enemy unit. Nothing impressive(I thought), 14 Rifle, Mk II, they are entrenced(40), but their readiness is low(40 as well), so I decide to give them a good punch with my 10 Arti(MkI) which reduces readiness to 4 and entrenchement to 0. Allrighty. Let my 30 Rifle MkI (100 Readyness)including 5 MG(ok, only good for Def) and 5(!) Mortars attack. Guess what - attack repelled(!!), loosing halve of my men and readyness goes down. Enemy looses 2(!) men, readyness goes from 4 to 3(100 is max). NO, this bloody game is just cheating to much, I really cannot stand it anymore. Again - such a great idea, having a war sandbox, so messed up by the developer. At least he could make a setting(call it idiotic easy) where the KI for once would not cheat on the player. I do not, however, give up. Now a 1 vs 1 battle. Big map. NOW I want to see WHO is helping that lousy bastard(apart from that it still will cheat). I do not know why not a more skilled programmer is picking up this messed up idea and make a more clever KI. Strategy fans would love such a game. There is a reason why most scenarios are just human - human. The Dev could not get the KI straight which is kind of embarrassing.
