  Vision Soft Reset is everything I love about indie games. It's a clever concept fully explored and realized, iterated on in a few clever ways, and then given a satisfying conclusion before it overstays its welcome. It's creative and refreshing, with enough lore and indecipherable sci-fi nonsense to make it feel like a fully realized universe without feeling the need to drop exposition dumps on our heads constantly. In short, in both in the writing and in the game's mechanics, I feel the creator's ambition and confidence in what they've created, and in playing through the game, I feel their brilliance and understanding of gaming. There's an adage in game design that players, when given the opportunity, will optimize the fun out of a game. It takes a clever touch to get players to get out of their own way, and I think the ticking timer and time tree/fast travel/recall system here is exactly that. I'm not one for speedrunning, personally, finding it more stressful than fun. Yet Vision Soft Reset gives context and challenge, room to constantly improve, both mechanically and through upgrades, and enough time to be pressured more by the threat of a timer than by the timer itself. It adds layers and consequence to your actions in a way I don't think I've seen other games do. Vision Soft Reset very easily could have just been a game with a clever concept, but it is also excellent at using that concept to make a genuinely fun game. If you are someone who enjoys exploration in your video games, I cannot recommend this gem highly enough.

  Little metroidvania with a lot of unlockables and a central mechanic which is great : time travel. Instead of fast travel you got time travel while conserving most of the upgrades (except health and more energy to time travel). The map is really well thought and it is possible to travel the whole map at the end under the time limit once you got all the upgrades. Music, bosses and graphics are decent, and the game can be beaten in around 5 hours. This plus the really innovative mechanic makes this a must play for metroidvania fans in my opinion. My only complain is that one of the upgrades is not well explained. Read at your peril although it is a normal unlockable in a metroidvania : jumping on walls is a bit tricky to get the hang on, specially combined with the dash. The key is to mantain the jump button, press in direction of the wall and to separate from the wall mantain the jump button but switch sides. And also to understand that if another wall is far, you will need to dash before.

  Neat idea for a metroidvania, you have the ability to rewind in real time to erase mistakes, but it gets deeper than that. You are eventually tasked with a 20 minute time limit, and here's the thing : physical objects don;t come with you when you go back in time, but knowledge, and memeories do. So if you collect a powerup ( represented by codes you use to unlock abilities in your suit laying dormant ) you keep the powerup regardless of what timelione you're in. Physical objects, such as health powerups, do not. And the game is very smart about notr letting you abuse health pickups, and progress; sometimes you are given the choice of grabbing it, but no progressing further, or skipping it , or perhaps you find a way to get around AND keep it, neat stuff. The writing is decent, gets the message ac ross, and you can interact with the talking stuff int he menu, so every time a thing happens that usually would trigger a talkathon, in this game? You can just skip right by it. Having some fun with this, it's noit that far in, and already the map navigation is getting nice and spicey thasnks to the timelines, and abilities I've earned so far. Not your avergae Metroidvania, for sure. Absolutely recommend this one

  So if I understand the developer correctly, you have to beat this metroidvania within 20 minutes (or at least the biggest part of it). Now that does not mean that you will only get 20 minutes of gameplay, actually, it will take hours of practice and exploration to do so. This game has a "time travel" aspect, and I am not just talking about the time reversal that you will use to dodge bullets. It actually allows you to jump between all of your checkpoints, so essentially you want to plan your routes and reduce the time as much as possible. If you ever did a speedrun of anything, you memorize the crap out of the game and you try to beat it in the lowest time - but here you cannot disable it (which is a little ignorant on his part). I wouldn't say that this game is too hard, but it is relatively challenging. There are many places where I found the platforming to be poorly designed, taking me from 5 seconds to 1 minute to pass certain sections (some of the mechanics like canon bounce are hard to do consistently). Speed running makes a lot of sense because of its time traveling concept, but I am still questioning if it's wise to sell $8 speedrun game on the unaware customer. Let's pretend like the whole timing thing does not exist (hopefully the developer will separate the game into 2 modes), I do want to mention a few other things that I like. The game made a bad first impression on me, mostly because of the poor variety of initial mobility tools, although you will get some eventually. As you might know, metroidvania games are all about finding power-ups that will allow you to progress into new sections. Luckily it has all of those generic things like the additional jump (dash move in this situation) - still serves the same purpose. You can also use a canon power to get a small boost (that one can be a pain in the butt). I also found powers like slash and double shot, and I am sure there are more of those. Overall, once you get those moves the gameplay feels pretty good, it's just that starting portion that feels extremely limited. Surprisingly the game is relatively intuitive, in some ways it holds your hand and makes sure that you understand the mechanics. I like the dialogue between the characters and the soundtrack is definitely the highlight of this game for me. [h1] Pros: [/h1] + creative use of time travel + great soundtrack + relatively intuitive navigation + cute characters / dialogue + the gameplay is alright (boss fights are fun) [h1] Cons: [/h1] - forced speed running aspect (might be too much for some) - I would like to see achievements [b] Overall Thoughts:[/b] I think the game is decent (not great), but you have to be competent with speedruns, if you going to get the content that you paid for. Personally, I think there should be a casual mode without the timer, and a speedrun mode if he wants it. I do love its time travel format though, never played anything that was exactly like that.   Vision Soft Reset is a fascinating and inspired game that does more with the idea of time travel in a metroidvania than I've ever seen before. It's difficult to get into details without ruining so many of the surprises, but I found myself repeatedly blown away by some new clever realization or interaction. I do wish it was a little longer or even more involved and complicated, but for genuine novelty, it's worth checking out.

  this gem passed under the radar ffs its pretty good not perfect but still pretty good havent encountered any bugs while playing, except for those annoying spiders haha
