Okay, let's address the elephant in the room: is this DLC good? The answer is "yes": if you enjoy House Flipper's core game play loop, which is to take something that is ugly and transform it through your creativity into something that is pleasing to look at, then you will enjoy this DLC. Why does it get so many poor reviews, then? Two reasons: first, the DLC is a bit over-priced for what it gives you. And second, the DLC is not tightly integrated to the rest of the game. The second one ties strongly with the first one because of the DLC's basic length. If you try to get the basic content out of this DLC, it will take you five or six hours, which is therefore probably not worth more than 5 USD or so. So, good things first: there's a lot of creativity to be unleashed here, lots of new parts and opportunities to use them, an interesting mechanic for "judging" your work, and 18-20 tutorial jobs that will teach you the use of all the different tools. As the screenshots will show you, you can generate some quite good-looking gardens in a reasonable amount of time, and there's definitely a lot of satisfaction to be had from doing a good job with one. The graphics are first rate, the UI is intuitive (except for two exceptions, which I'll talk about presently), and the end results look pretty amazing even if you're nobody's landscape architect. The UI problems come when you try to spread gravel or sand, and when you try to roll grass turf. The first one uses a painting tool which just doesn't work well with the rest of the UI of the game. The devs probably should have reworked the flooring UI of the main game instead of using a paintbrush tool. I know why they did it: so that you can "draw" sand or gravel paths through your gardens and fair enough. But there should have also been an option for blocking out an even area of sand or gravel. The option to roll turf (what you do to plant grass) has an entirely different set of problems in that the smallest obstacle will halt your progress and you're constantly having to move garden bits around to make room for rolling turf, something that has to be done in advance. This can create some frustration with some of the jobs that require you to do this. That said, both of these are kinda nit-picky complaints. The light integration with the rest of the game is the main issue with this DLC. None of the clients care what the gardens attached to their houses look like, and there are no new clients that want particular gardens. Instead, you can "enter your house in a gardening competition", choosing a half-dozen different styles of garden. If you are rated well, then you get a bonus percentage attached to the bid you get for your house from the client. There are two problems with this. First, the contests are super easy and if you follow any sort of on-line guide, your first competing garden will probably nail five stars in all three categories. Second, you can fairly easily spend more on this garden than you will benefit from the percentage bonus you get for building the garden, which means you mostly want to engage in this part of the game with the biggest houses. As a result, you will most likely build maybe two or three really nice gardens tops with this DLC. So, it's good but flawed. I bought this while it was on sale and I recommend you do the same.

This DLC has gotten some harsh reviews and some of them have some valid points however for people who enjoy playing this game for what it is which is making houses look beautiful then you will love this DLC. It adds a lot of furniture and decorative items which can turn all gardens into beautiful havens which is the final touch on the house. The only thing I wish for this DLC is that the clients don't react to the garden, there's no reason to do the garden other than wanting to make it look better, there's no real gameplay attached to it. Other than that, this DLC is really enjoyable and it finishes every house off perfectly.

This DLC feels like a monkey's paw type of wish came true. I love the main game. I have a very perfectionist personality, which IRL is almost giving me problems. This game lets me go nuts, the grid system is useful for being precise but fine enough to not feel like the homes were computer-generated. The main problem I had was the gardens. No matter how pretty the homes are, some of the gardens were actual jungles. I just wished to mow the lawn. All I ever asked for was mowing the lawn. One finger of the monkey's paw curls in. Now you can mow the lawn! But only with a grasseater that either goes super slow or fast enough to give you motion sickness. Now you can make patios! But the tiles you lay down never match seamlessy. Now you can place down gravel! But it goes down like you're painting it with your mouse and the edges look jaggy af. Now you can make fences! But the pieces of the fence not only don't snap, but can't even get manually aligned to each other. It's like every time you start placing fences the game picks an arbitrary offset for it. So if you placed a part and then want to place another, the "grid" that determines where the fence goes is off-centred and the two pieces will NEVER collide. I really cannot understand how the same people who made the main game managed to do everything wrong on this DLC. I read the negative reviews but I was like "I don't care, I'm sure I can just pay attention and get a nice lawn". Well I was wrong. I cannot even, say, limit myself to mowing the lawns. When you cut the tall grass the short one that is left has weird holes and patches that cannot be covered no matter how many times you go over them w fresh grass. The only solution is using decorative elements to cover them up. Unironically ruined my experience with a game I used to love. Not even joking, I miss the jungle lawn.

Its good that they added this. It felt like it was missing from the game. Its bad that it was paid DLC and not an update. Again, this feels like it should have been in the core game. Its also bad how it takes over all your missions. Every mission becomes garden work and building gardens. Get it on sale.

Content that always should have been in the base game. So technically i recommend getting this to make house flipper a more complete game but it cost me money so grrrrrr bad review.

Way overpriced for something that should have been in the base game. All I want is for my lawn not to look like a dumpster fire of shame. Cannot stress enough, SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE BASE GAME. Charging anything for this feels scummy.

House Flipper is a fun game. This DLC however, feels lazy. Sure, there are lots of plants to choose from, but on the other hand... - Missing sound effects (either that, or the world's most silent brush cutter) - Some assignments are either basically repetitions, and/or EXTREMELY short. One assignment, for instance, consists of going in to pull some weeds and mow the lawn, and done. - At least one assignment is bugged and broken, effectively getting you stuck on 96% completion. This DLC is sold at almost the same price as the base game, but there's not nearly as much content in this pack as in the original. Wait for a sale if you really want this.

first off i feel that this dlc is pretty overpriced to begin with. it feels like something that was meant to be in the base game, but then they figured they could make more money off it. the price is too high for a simple expansion to a simple game. next, even if you still want it, i highly recommend waiting to buy it because it IS NOT COMPLETE. the final tier of the grass cutter is 'coming soon' and not actually in the game. i stupidly upgraded to it and now i can't mow grass at all, so the game is legit broken right now. and finally, while it is nice to finally be able to do stuff with gardens, the mechanics feel rather awkward (why do we use a weed wacker to mow an entire yard instead of a proper lawn mower? and i feel like weed pulling and grass laying could be much more organic-feeling) and the missions feel unnatural. it's just... not as satisfying as fixing up the houses in the base game. it's not awful, but i can't recommend it. not as fun as the base game, overpriced, and i'm a bit dissapointed they'd release it with such a glaring error as a missing tool.

First and foremost, I am not recommending this dlc because of some of the responses I've seen from the dev to other reviews. Looking at reviews, I see dev responses such as "other companies would charge more" or "some would release individual dlc at 5$ a house, so really this is a good package deal", which makes reviewers like myself and others seem like we are wasting our time writing feedback. In this instance, I am starting to feel like the consumer's opinion doesnt matter, and that I shouldnt bother writing a review at all. Just because people buy your product, or other companies do things similar or different than you, it does not entitle you to talk over what a pretty mixed group of your audience feels. When it comes to adding on to a game, I think this extra content is a little expensive for what it is: buggy and unfinished. There should not be a "coming soon" block to something that is supposed to be fully released. (I am hoping/assuming the "coming soon" refers to a lawn mower upgrade. Really, who mowes with a weed wacker?? Usually in this game you start with a small tool and upgrade it, but there is no upgrade from the wacker right now, making big yards a pain.) Others have made a lot of the same remarks I would; That there are not enough new tasks/houses added to make this really fresh content (for the price), there is a lot that needs to be cleaned up, and overall the dlc feels unpolished, especially for how long its been in development for. I bought it despite reviews to see for myself, but I ultimately agree that for now, more work needs to be done before I can give this review a thumbs up. In short, wait until this dlc is further updated, debugged, and fleshed out before paying full price. I do honestly like this game and the dlc. Despite the price and the way I feel about it as I have spoken above, I really do enjoy this game. The dlc completes the whole flipping experience, and now all the game is really missing is the option of customising the exterior of the house, such as roofing, (moving around) doors and windows, and more siding options. However, I think the connection to the part of the community upset about the dlc is also important. With the base game being $20, with several houses, tools, jobs, upgrades, furniture, etc, I fully understand why $15 for the dlc is making people so upset. At the least, I hope they add more houses in free updates. For me personally, $15 isnt a big deal, but I am more concerned about the responses going on than the actual price.
