  Become a Ghost or a Killing Machine

  ⏰ How long to beat Dishonored:

  - Main Story - 12 Hours - Main + Extras - 18 Hours - Completionist - 35½ Hours I've heard a lot about this game, and I took my time to play it. After all, this game was released in 2012, and it still holds up quite well, even after 10 years. I have to admit, the epilogue felt a bit weird, but the game got a lot better later, and I will get into that later.

  ⚔ Gameplay:

  🔲 It's a one-time experience 🔲 Only for achievements 🔲 If you wait a few months/years (try playing with mods) ☑️ Definitely 🔲 Infinitely replayable I've started my first entry in Low Chaos, where I'd avoid detection and killing all the way through, especially to get some of the achievements like "Clean Hands,” "Cleaner Hands," and "Cleanest Hands" from two of the DLC's that it's a must to get. The game offers a large variation of replayability after going for one choice, and you can choose to go for High Chaos or choose your routes differently all the time. This is the most enjoyable part of the game and why it gets so many praises. It really makes for an awesome stealth assassination game.

  😄 Fun:

  🔲 I'd rather watch paint dry 🔲 Hard to enjoy 🔲 Repetitive 🔲 Actually pretty amusing ☑️ The kind of fun you'll remember 🔲 Ride of your life At first, the story felt a bit weird because the characters looked goofy and yourself (Corvo) isn't at all voice, so I felt it was a bit weird to have a protagonist that was mute, but the game picks up quickly, and you're presented with many options to eliminate your targets, lethal or non-lethal. The game doesn't hold your hand. It only offers you options. If you choose to go with one path, you'll have fun. Low Chaos, it tactical, slow and patient, while High Chaos is alert, destructive and aggressive. Both ways just work, and the game does a really good job at making the experience memorable.

  🏞 Graphics:

  🔲 MS Paint 🔲 Bad 🔲 Meh 🔲 Graphics don't matter in this game 🔲 Good (nothing special) ☑️ Beautiful 🔲 Masterpiece For a game released 10 years ago since this review, I can't say that it has the worst or the best graphics, but it has its charm and style that you'll not see anywhere else. It takes time getting used to, but it surely is a nice looking game and still holds up after so many years, I should say.

  🔊 Sound:

  🔲 Makes your ears bleed 🔲 Bad 🔲 Not special ☑️ Good 🔲 Beautiful 🔲 Masterpiece Sound is important in this game, and you're directly related to it. There’s a sound mechanic that can become your enemy if you're not paying attention. Voice actors are alright, but I really wish Corvo was voiced as it would fill the gap of monologue conversations the characters have with you in the game, and it feels like something is missing.

  📖 Story:

  🔲 This game has no story 🔲 Like playing Temple Runners for the story 🔲 It's there for the people who want it 🔲 Well written ☑️ Epic story 🔲 Masterpiece The story starts early very easily, setting you on a path of revenge. I have been pleasantly surprised to find out that with my decisions, I get to shape the outcome of the game little by little. It has surprised me a couple of times, and that has been in a good way. If the story doesn't hook you up from the start, please give it time; it gets a lot better later on.

  🧵 Length:

  🔲 Long enough for a cup of coffee ☑️ Short ☑️ Average 🔲 Long (if u can even finish it) 🔲 To infinity and beyond The game has a pretty short to average kind of story. If you're experienced already in the game, you can finish it rather quickly as long as you go through each level swiftly. Part of the charm is that it's just right in length to keep you intrigued and to want to play more.

  💷 Price:

  🔲 Free 🔲 Underpriced ☑️ Perfect Price 🔲 Could be cheaper 🔲 Overpriced 🔲 Complete waste of money When I got this game, it was either in a bundle or through a discount. The game is really worth the price it comes with, and you shouldn't be afraid to purchase the base game for the original price. You're not making a mistake unless you don't really like stealth games.

  🧩 Difficulty:

  🔲 My 90-year-old grandma could play it 🔲 Easy ☑️ Normal ☑️ Hard 🔲 Dark Souls (if u play with bell demon and charmless it's extremely hard) Depending on the difficulty you choose, the game can rather feel easy or hard. I find that auto-saving is your best friend in this game, making the whole experience a lot easier. Although if you choose to go for Challenges or pursue Achievements as I do, the game can turn really difficult at times.

  ⚖ Pros & Cons:

  ➕ Pros:

  + Interesting story that gets better and better as you go. + Your choices matter, and you get to choose alternate paths to your ending. + Offers a true stealth or assassin experience that you can't find in any game. + DLC gives a clearer look at some of the characters you meet, and you get to see the game from different angles. + Cool abilities and assassinations. + Short and sweet.

  ➖ Cons:

  - Corvo is unfortunately not voiced; that was a bummer for me. - It may require for you to make multiple runs to get all the achievements, and that can take a while.

  ⚙ Bugs:

  🔲 Clean ☑️ I've not encountered, but there might be for some people 🔲 A few bugs here and there 🔲 Can get annoying 🔲 Buggy and glicthy all the time I've not encountered any bugs as so far, so throughout my whole experience, I can say that I've had a great experience, and I hope that you do too.

  ⭕Conclusion:

  Dishonored has been a game I wanted to play for a long time but never got the chance to do so. I am pleased that the game held up after so many years, and I'm excited to try Dishonored 2 and see what there is in store. But for now, I will try to go for an additional run on High Chaos, which I'm pretty sure, it will be hella fun!   There are 3 ways to play the game: 1: The Satan way: Slit anything remotely neck shaped and be damn proud of it. 2: The Captain Walker way: Try to do good, spare some guys, murder others, and see how much you've fucked up at the end. At least it's not all bad though... Well yes, yes it is, a city is pretty much dead thanks to you. 3: The Aang way Somehow get through all that without killing any human beings. 'Tis a good game.

  This is one of the best games I've ever played, I really don't know how I missed it when it came out. Amazing level design, almost complete freedom to play however you want, great writing with a good story, still looks great by today's standards and run great on modern PC's (or the Steam Deck)... just great from beginning to end. Play this game if you never have.

  New age Thief- a modern classic. In my opinion there are few games from the last 10 years that have earned the same status that this game has. Gameplay is very thoughtfully designed, both the levels and mechanics are meticulously designed with a lot of different interactions and outcomes from different objects interacting. Everything has a use and if you use your brain you can pull off some crazy moves. My new favorite thing to do is to freeze time, set a mine on a rat then use the pull ability in the DLC and pull the rat into my hands and chuck it at the closest group of enemies. Fighting feels very satisfying especially with powers and doing things like chucking items at enemies to stagger them, you can jump on enemies heads to throw them off balance and deliver an easy kill. Sneaking as a whole is very fun, again you have to use your brain to figure out the best ways to go to avoid traps or enemy patrols. The game is an immersive sim through and through and I think it leverages its systems very well. It shares a lot of DNA with Dark Messiah Of Might And Magic (if you like the Dishonored games but never played this game jump on that ASAP) and that's a great because there aren't enough games out there like this. Story wise it's not anything mind bending, but it doesn't try to be very intrusive. You can pick up a lot of lore from the world at your own pace and a lot of time that lore will help you get extra loot and it helps that a lot of time it's pretty interesting. The setting and art are distinct, the world looks like a stylized painting with elements pulled from Half Life 2's City 17. I think it has held up extremely well over the last 10 years and I don't think it will ever look bad because the art style is so well designed. The music is very minimal but fits the setting well. Sound effects for the most part are orchestral music stings that do a great job in communicating what is going on. The game sounds very clean with really the only negative thing being a lack of voice actors and voice lines for guards, but they still do a good job with specific dialogue designed to give you more insight to the story/lore and the mission objective. As a whole, I think everyone with a passing interest in first person slashers, stealth games or immersive sims should buy this game and the DLCs. When this game first came out I was floored by how good it was and I think it still holds up today thanks again to the beautiful art, competent story, lore and writing, smooth gameplay with unique mechanics and great sound design. The game runs beautifully on modern systems with the only blemish being that there's no AA options outside FXAA, but you can force the game to run with MSAA through Nvidia Inspector. I've beaten this game as many times as New Vegas, Witcher 3 and Skyrim, so again it's a modern classic as far as I'm concerned. For me it's one of those games that kind of ruins your tolerance for middling games and makes you wonder how the hell more people aren't talking about it.
