  It may be my fault for not reading the fine print, but the fact that this content pack only gives you unique buildings and it does not operate as a city style boggles my mind. I don't understand why they couldn't be bothered to either, because they could have just taken appropriate buildings from other styles and mixed it in with the buildings from this pack, but nope, instead you have to place them manually. Also, because they're unique buildings, you can only place one of each unless you download the RICO mod. Waste of money and it's disappointing Colossal Order couldn't bother to put more work into it than the original modder who made otherwise excellent buildings. Only buy it on sale.

  The content looks amazing, but I'm a little disappointed that it wasn't integrated as a style that would have seen these buildings popping up automatically as proper RICO buildings. If you like placing individual buildings chasing after a specific look then buy with confidence.

  If you're into plopping instead of zoning, there's some really good buildings in this pack. To the people complaining that you don't get enough for the money, this is all made by one modder from the workshop. I see the point of this pack mostly to show thanks to Ryuichi Kaminogi (who creates some of the best Japanese assets on the workshop) rather than as a proper DLC. This pack serves that purpose perfectly :D

  Modern Japan is definitely a pack that would work well with a 'mixed' review option. The buildings themselves are quality, they fit into the game well, there's no visual issues. However, the big peeve with everyone, including me, is that every building in the pack, not just the skyscrapers, not just the pagoda, everything is a unique building in the vanilla game. A zoning type similar to European Suburbia would've worked well, instead of a mod requirement for them to actually work like residential/commercial/office buildings. Good design, bad execution, Paradox need to do a double-take on this pack at some point. 5/10.

  This actually comes with a lot more than I was expecting. I'll list what the contents are since there is no detailed description on the store page. It'll be broken down by category, the asset's name and size, and then my thoughts. Type 1: Small Commercial: Drive-in Restaurant - (4 x 4) Drive-in Oriental Restaurant - (7 x 5) Oriental Market - (5 x 4) Noodle Restaurant - (5 x 5) Ramen Restaurant - (3 x 4) Service Station and Restaurant - (12 x 13) These are nice because they come included with large parking lots, so they fit in better with suburban areas where one would expect to have ample parking when visiting a store or restaurant. The last one, service station, is not actually a gas station but a large rectangular building. I guess it's some kind of highway rest stop, but I think of it as a large steak house. Type 2: Office Small Office Building - (11 x 4) City Office Building - (8 x 4) District Office Building - (10 x 4) Local Register Office - (8 x 5) Various types of brown buildings ranging about 4-8 stories tall. Quite nice, and integrate well into any urban center, office park, or as I like to use them for, headquarters for my service sectors, such as being the main building for my water treatment plant, etc. Type 3: Leisure Downtown Hotel - (6 x 5) Resort Hotel - (15 x 9) The Station Department Store - (15 x 5) The Rail Yard Shopping Center - (15 x 5) Temple - (2 x 3) Specialized tourism buildings, pretty self explanatory. The department store is not actually a "station" nor is the shopping center an actual "rail yard". Both are just large rectangular malls, which again are versatile enough to fit anywhere from suburbs, downtown centers, to recreational districts. The temple is a small pagoda and would work best probably within a park. Type 4: Skyscrapers High Rise Office Building - (6 x 4) Company Headquarters - (10 x 11) Office Skyscraper - (12 x 9) Self explanatory, but the latter two are really tall, eclipsing the vanilla skyscraper unique buildings and even the IT specialization from Green Cities. Great looking assets. Type 5: Services General Hospital - (9 x 8) Waste Disposal Unit - (13 x 12) Both are just Japanese versions of the normal hospital and incinerator, even down to upkeep cost and patient/trash processing rate. Quite nice for some extra visual variety and I'm happy to replace the vanilla incinerator with something much larger and realistic looking. Overall this is a fantastic pack. A lot of people have noted that these buildings cannot be used as a district style to have them spawn randomly. While that is true, you probably really wouldn't want most of these to repeat a lot. The restaurants take up a lot more space than you expect with their parking lots, and the leisure buildings and skyscrapers are best placed once since they are so specialized. It wouldn't have been a bad idea to have the office types spawn, but their footprint is larger than the maximum 4x4 the game allows for spawns, so it really wouldn't have worked with how the rest of the game is designed. Between the choice of having them as they are now, or shrinking them to fit a 4x4 plot, I'd much prefer them to be large since they stand out a lot more than any generic square office. Having them as one time use unique buildings can be circumvented by getting the mod that lets you place unique assets multiple times. As far as blending in with the surroundings, aside from some kanji on signs you wouldn't really notice unless you zoomed up close, all the buildings fit in perfectly with my American city theme. Architecturally they match well with all the vanilla buildings so even if you're not aiming for a Japanese style city I'm sure you can find a lot of uses for them that would look natural and aesthetically pleasing.

  Like many, I had purchased this thinking I would have an experience close to what you see in the video. As a note, the buildings look great, but you're not getting a mod pack that will transform buildings to a Japan or Tokyo style. Its however many unique buildings that you place down in whatever mode you want. For that reason I am going to say, you might want to pass on this unless you absolutely love the content.

  It is not worth buying. I expected a lot more, I ended up being innocent and I bought it without researching it properly. I expected themed residences, streets, trains with an oriental look ... In the end, everything I have come from DLC comes down to unique constructions, which I will probably barely use and the really significant content will end up coming from mods and not from official game, which to me is somewhat unpleasant. The content coming from the DLC is poor, if I had looked right I wouldn't have bought it, I was stupid. If you intend to buy, if you like this miserable content adherence, I advise you to buy it when it is at a promotional price. Worst of all, I can't even refund, because they don't consider their DLC playing time, they consider their base game playing time, and I can't even refund that crap. I haven't played the DLC for that long in 2 hours. What I played was the base game and other DLC's. It's not fair for me to keep this crap.

  The DLC shows itself as a city theme you can use, but in reality it just gives you unique buildings you can use. So it doesn't change the default building themes, traffic or anything else. Wouldn't recommend
