  Accidentally played for three hours when I meant to boot it up for a quick minute. That's a sign of a good puzzle game.

  You don't get much better when it comes to laser puzzles. Vibrant world, lore, hidden object elements, lots of tools to play around with... only complaint is the "beam length" mechanic is extremely unintuitive at times. Still, definitely worth it.

  I've played loads of puzzle games over the last 25 years, but this game made me feel incredibly stupid. Even with knowing where I had to place all pieces, I still couldn't solve most of the puzzles (or perhaps I did, I have no idea how far I am in the game). Somehow I just don't see it, and I find it impossible to reverse engineer any puzzle. The puzzles I solved thusfar were shear luck when I accidentally rotated some pieces in the right direction. I know I shouldn't downvote a game because of my own incompetence, but perhaps someone else has the same issues with it.

  Archaica is an exceptionally beautiful and well-conceived yet terribly frustrating puzzler.

  Highly polished environments and clever game mechanics are made irreconcilable by exceedingly difficult levels. I derived very little enjoyment from frequent accidental puzzle solving and feeling consistently stumped. After a while it does begin to click somewhat but remains highly laborious. New concepts are vaguely introduced and the flexible boards let any piece be placed anywhere in any angle, leading to too many possibilities with not enough direction. With better exposition and initial guidance, proper training to master the mechanics, and progressive challenges, this game would have been a real winner. While an appreciated addition, the built-in hint system feels almost obligatory. It is powered by hint crystals predictably located at the very edges of the screen or in very tight spots only visible from a narrow angle. Likewise dispersed column fragments provide additional lore and useful game object descriptions.

  Really solid puzzle game. The puzzles themselves are very nicely crafted and very logical, no bullshit gotchas or tricks. Most of the puzzles have solutions that are unique (at least up to some trivial adjustments), and you can usually logically deduce what the solution needs to be, rather than just messing around until something works. I'm a big fan of this type of logical puzzle design as it feels a lot more satisfying to solve! I found the narrative to be pointless but you can ignore it; it doesn't get in the way at all. There is a clever little hidden object minigame if you get bored.
