  My name is Craig Tucker. Last week was my birthday, my grandma gave me a check for 100 dollars. I was so happy. But then, 4 kids from my school came to my house, and said I should use my 100 dollars to invest in becoming a Peruvian flute band. they promised I would double my money in one afternoon. But the government arrested us, along with all the other Peruvian flute bands, and took us to an internment camp in Miami. We begged to go home, but instead the government told us they were sending us to Peru. And so that is why I'm now in Peru. if I die let it be known it is because of 4 guys I don't even like from my school lied to me and took my birthday money.

  Quality	7.7/10	Decent (South Park Studios)
  Performance	8/10	Runs smoothly; hardly recognizable lag / stuttering during side-scrolling; tabbing out often results in a crash; no frame drops; smooth in 4k aswell
  Utility	8/10	No bugs experienced; Windows only; needs Uplay (requires a third party account but automatically starts, if you launch the game via Steam); glitches may occur when skipping some FMVs; fixable via re-loading
  Controls	7/10	Decent controls with the pad; rather uninspired control scheme; feels like a lazy console port: kb+m sucks! No possibility to control the camera, which can limit the combat-screen
  Gameplay	8.5/10	Turn-based 2.5D comedy RPG
  Challenge	8/10	Rather simple strategic combat; too easy overall, but satisfying on the highest combat difficulty (4 grades)
  Content	8/10	~12h+ per run without collectables; +10h if you wanna see everything; contains loads of lovely details, but no endcontent and few side quests

  Texts	10/10	Socially critical & political satire, that mirrors the zeitgeist perfectly; filled to the brim with good jokes & dialogues
  Mapping	8/10	An authentic virtual simulation of the cartoon city of South Park, but the mapping often felt a bit too generic
  Interface	8/10	Neat, customizable in-game menus and UI (minor flaws); annoying ads for the "Ushop" etc in the main menu

  Reviews give this game a hard time because: 1. it has some unfixed game breaking combat freeze bugs that you need to google how to work around 2. the new grid based combat is a lot slower than the turn based JRPG style combat from the first game 3. you need a ubisoft account and launcher Uplay installed. While (1) is unarguably super bad, it's made more tolerable by the reliable workaround (alt-esc). Point (2) is a an subjective opinion. I personally like the more strategic grid even though it is a lot slower. Really depends on personal tastes here. (3) is a bit of a bummer but you do get to claim in-game rewards through achievements earned through Uplay. These drawbacks aside, there is a ton of quality content here and while some may disagree, I feel there is more content and creative gameplay here than the first, even though the quality of the story kinda gets nonsensical towards the end. If you enjoy south park style humor then I don't really feel you can go wrong with picking this up, especially when on sale.

  South Park: The Fractured But Whole is not a terrible game by any stretch of the imagination. But for a full 60$ game I really expected more. I absolutely loved the previous game, The Stick of Truth, and naturally had high hopes for the sequel. However, TFBW just fails to deliver. It absolutely has the South Park feel to it, with tons of humor and references. The problem is that the game just can't coast by on that alone and the rest of the game is just... boring. The story isn't particularly interesting and you never felt there was anything at stake, something to drive you along. In the 20 or so hours it took me to play through the game I felt I spent most of my time fighting trash, searching for collectibles and doing fetch quests. Only at the very end do you see anything in the way of stakes and it all ends with one of the worst final battles I've ever seen and an incredibly anti-climactic ending. There are also other issues I have with this game, the price being one of them. At 60$ I expect more content than I received. The game is very short, even with all the side content included. And the inclusion of a very expensive season pass and day one DLC doesn't help either. And of course the cherry on top is the fact that you have to use UPlay whether you want to or not. Ubisoft... no one likes your stupid client. Stop pushing it. And there are some technical issues as well. I didn't have the black screen problem others have had, but I did have to play through the entire game with a very annoying grey bar at the top and bottom of the screen because my monitor uses a non-standard resolution. Oddly enough, The Stick of Truth did not have this problem so I don't see why this game should have it. The game is also very resource intensive, excessively so compared to the Stick of Truth. And finally the game feels very much like a console port, this is glaringly obvious with the in game phone menus and the control scheme, particulary when trying to do the toilet challenges. In the end I suppose the game is worth a play if you loved the previous game, just wait for a steam sale, it isn't worth the full asking price. But all things considered, if you haven't played the previous game I would suggest skipping this and picking up The Stick of Truth instead. It's just a better game in every way. Final rating: 6.5/10
