  Do you not have the money to buy Sekiro? Do you not have the PC to run Sekiro? fear not, pixel samurai has got you covered! so much fun, and so cheap, if you like something simple and challenging, seriously, buy this the pixel art is so pretty and the gameplay can keep you busy for hours!

  Despite its small amount of gameplay, this game feels very fluid with enjoyable fast paced combat. Sekiro fans will enjoy this game, and I find myself wishing there were more than 5 fights.

  I really pushed myself to liking this game but it's too hard. The timing for the parry is very off. It needs major tweaking in the timings

  This game is actually really fun for how simple it is. You move Left or Right You can Dash away from attacks You have a parry/the Sekiro parry. You can Attack. You have 5 Bosses and ALL the time you'd like to learn their sets- there are no time limits. Aye yo Dev if you see this, I have an idea for you. You could make it where every time you beat a boss you can unlock their special skill (or one of, since some bosses have multiple) and they can carry that on into the next fight, and when they beat all bosses back to back (either in 1 try or in however many, I'll leave that challenge up to you) they unlock a little statue that allows you to change which special move you have. That statue could take the appearance of each boss and changes into a different one every time you strike it. Kinda like your "Easy/Hard Parry" mode statue! Other than that I'd say all this game needs is maybe 2-3 more bosses and it's pretty much golden. 5 is fun but man once you learn those patterns this game becomes so short-lived. Would love to maybe see a difficulty/speed modifier to increase intensities of the game! The last idea I'd wanna give is complicated so I wont go into detail. I'll only say I was thinking of making a frame +/- mechanic where if you block a little late, you're minus a frame or two, if you block normally you're the same as usual, and if you block perfectly as they strike then you are plus a frame or two and can move/strike faster for a very brief moment. But I feel like thats a bit too complex for a game like this or you just wouldn't wanna be bothered doing something like that which is understandable. It's not a needed system in any way- just a fun idea that could be cool. Its a fun little game, would love to see a little growth from it <3

  Pixel Samurai is a neat little game that has tons of potential to be a real powerhouse in the indie game world. The gameplay is fun/addicting and the artistic presentation is very stylish - truly, the only thing holding this game back is a lack of additional content. What's here is great but feels like it ends right when I finally got the hang of the combat flow and that's just tragic! In Pixel Samurai, you need to be tactical in how you approach each duel as the action is very fast and punishing. So much so, that you can rarely to course-correct your way out of taking damage if (when) you smash the wrong move at the wrong time (i.e. going for a strike that should have been a parry). Parrying/blocking enemy attacks is priority #1 and you won't get far if you try to spam attacks carelessly - everything is about perfect timing and seizing the opportunity. The game strikes a challenging-yet-fair balance with its difficulty level and I found that remained consistent throughout each boss. While it was always frustrating to misfire a parry or to strike in error, the frequent punishment made it oh-so-satisfying when I finally managed to beat each boss! The developer mentions on the Steam page that this is a "student's work" but in the hopes that development continues on this title, or if serves as a foundation for a future sequel/DLC, here are some things I would love to see added: <*>More bosses! I'd like to see at least another 5-10...maybe that's just me being greedy but the heart wants what it wants. Perhaps a *final boss* who incorporates some moves from all of the earlier bosses. <*>More stages/arenas (or alternate versions of existing levels like weather effects and morning/afternoon/night variations). <*>Character customization (basic color palette swaps would be welcome and unique sprites would be fantastic!). <*>Achievements. <*>Stat tracking / Leaderboards (current match completion time, best recorded times, total times tried/won/lost by boss/overall). <*>QOL and UI improvements (edit key bindings/controller mapping, adjust sound/music volume, skippable intro scenes). <*>Secondary game mode that includes 'run-up' section before each boss using lesser mob-like enemies that die in a single hit and who use a single attack pulled from the bosses moveset - thereby giving the player clues about what to expect in the boss fight.

  Fun little game for those seeking a short, challenging game. Controls felt awkward the whole time for me personally, too bad you cant rebind them even if they're akin to Sekiro. Still recommended.

  parrying system is really weird. its not timed or anything, all you have to do is hold down block and you'll parry. when you block something your character will put their sword back away, so you have to let go and repress the button to block again before the boss can hit again which is almost always straight away. This is pretty different to most other games with a blocking mechanic that keeps the weapon up. On top of that the game would sometimes just not respond to my controllers or key board. So i had to block their fast, rapid attacks on top of punishing them afterwards while playing a game where my character wont even respond to some inputs. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if the bosses didn't run away almost immediately after attacking, so if you manage to block everything and they're right there, you have to move so fast to punish praying the button input will go through. None of this alone would be annoying, but all of it together makes it so difficult to stay alive for more than two minutes and i cant figure out how i'm supposed to beat these guys. i get its a student project and there's way worse games on steams. Hopefully there are some updates to smooth it over because everything else about it was pretty good. All I'd ask for is cleaner game play and bit of a re work for parrying
