  *Minor Spoiler Alert!* This game is fantastic, with varying diffuculty levels allowing vast sweeping battles for the Casual Player who just wants to give some orders and then watch as his units slaughter the enemy, and extremely difficult random battles that will test your resolve and your will to survive the fall of Rome in one of her most far flung colonies. A deep and intriquing story with many choices along the way, ultimately leading to the foregone conclusion - Rome is dead, you are a ghost of rotting empire, and you are no Hero. 8/10 Would Commit Heresy in the name of preserving the Light of Civilization again.

  *Minor Spoiler Alert* Picked this up on summer sale and I must say always a classic to see how decadent the Roman people became even in crisis it is hard to convince them to save themselves. The ending and game itself does really reflect the title symbolically and literally. Symbolically because Rome is dead and gone and nothing will change that no matter how much its clung to. Literally because you can turn your army into an undead one (and who can resist an undead Roman Legion?) and your wife can become a spirit possessing a woman (creepy yes but I blame Hadrian). Overall the battles are challenging and can be difficult but not impossible provided you play your cards right. *Moderate Spoiler Alert* But something that pulled me in was how this was written (voice actors sound annoying but that is my opinion). At one point when you are meeting with the Senate the leader of one of the Families accuses you of being a source of evil and will bring ruin upon them. This is reinforced by someone in the room having a vision of it at that time. Now pretty much through the whole game I assumed that the person who had that vision was just paid off or convinced into saying that even though said person didnt have that vision. But then that ending came about... makes one wonder if he did actually have a vision... I reccomend it because of the story.

  Why does Roman Empire fall? To rise again as most metal undead army imaginable ,that's why. Seriously though, I enjoyed this expansion a lot more than the original base game. *Septimus is pretty cool *Text adventure minigame is wonder-full (senatorial politics actually feel genuine) *combat is more total war than arcade *Story is intriguing and interesting (plot twists you will never see coming) *Is fantasy+Rome -Optimization and terrible camera controls -Your morality is irrelevant, you still are bad guy and you are pagan. (FYI Roman empire was christian hell of lot longer than it was pagan)

  I actually played it before the base game and I wasn't sure what to expect but when I started to play, it got me immediately. I love old Total War games(original Rome is my favorite) and I always missed some story in them. This game fills the gap. I spent good 40 hours just in this DLC and it includes only one chapter. I was really astonished to see that full game has five chapters. The DLC itself You follow a story of Septimus Sulla - general betrayed by all but he did not said his last word. Through mysterious magic you get the chance to change your destiny(or maybe to fulfil it). But as futher you go, uncertainty crawls into your mind and the darkness fells closer than ever. I especially enjoyed haggling with the other families to achieve their trust - lot of diplomatic deals, treaties, trades.....
