  Aaaahh espresso tycoon. A game I thought would be a joke or a goof or something badly made or not worth my time or money. Well...I played it for a decent amount of time and came to a conclusion. At the very least it's worth it's asking price. It's not awful. Sure it's not perfect but in terms of simulator games it's actually pretty good. The gameplay is fun and in depth although maybe a bit repetitive and sometimes boring. Confusing right? I know but it's still the truth. It has a lot, like choosing where to set up shop, customizing it in a lot of different ways including creating your own coffee recipes right down to what kind of cup you use or what kind of ice you use. Tons of different decorations and styles for your coffee shop and more. It even has cutscenes, voice acting, a campaign story mode, a decent tutorial decent graphics and sound. I mean overall this game is pretty decent. That's the word of the day. DECENT. The game is DECENT. So it's worth your money and your time. But only if you're into simulator games with a lot of managing and sitting around watching things happen. If that doesn't sound interesting to you then you should probably pass on this one. But I mean I liked it cuz I knew (more or less) what I was getting into. But it offered me far more than I was expecting which was really nice.   Great game ! Big AAA titles should learn from those guys, almost 10h in and zero bugs found. You pay exactly for what you get a relaxing and climatic coffee shop simulator. The Latte Art is realy fun and satisfaing to use. I allways wanted to do something like that and now I can, maybe in a video game but still it counts :D Tutorial is simple and easy. What's more the campaing is engaging and I felt motivated to complete it to unlock levels in sandbox mode which by the way is even more fun :D UNLIMITED MONEY!!!! Overall great game that you can easly play for houndres hours and don't get bored as there is a lot of customization. (I think you can use Latte Art allone for tens of hours)

  Instead of being dumped with a million different things to keep track of and learn right from the start, you progress in the missions a little at a time. You are not left wanting for more because each level is challenging in itself and it gets progressively harder and more in depth as you go. Its a great way to learn and to play at the same time without being overwhelmed or bored. I give this game a 9.5/10 so far and I've only just reached level 5 in the missions. Then there is the sandbox mode. I have not yet tried this but I've heard from the developers themselves that you do not need to unlock anything in order to play it. Everything is already unlocked when you select this option. The music is relaxing. The graphics beautiful. The decoration options available are great. Bring your creative juices, your own cup of beverage you desire and get ready to play for hours without realizing it. I highly recommend this game.

  Someone worked in the coffee industry definitely helped create this game. While some aspects are truly "game play" mechanics, others are ripped straight out of a coffee shop manager's admin tasks. When I saw the gantt chart shift scheduling I was already having flashbacks to dealing with schedules in Kronos. Oh you need a second barista during peak? Look to hire. Oh, but Bobby can only work 4 hours and prefers evenings? Shift everyone else around to accommodate! And don't even get me started on allowing butter and mayo in coffee drinks! I simultaneously hate it and love it. The only critic I have is inventory management is a little clunky. It's nice that it give you a heads up when supply is running low, but I would love and end of day report or something that would just isolate the ingredients you currently order onto one page for quick mass reordering. I would also love and option for the store to autoclose when your barista leaves. The employees have schedules, why couldn't the shop have store hours? Final verdict: great game, you get exactly the experience you think you will get at the price you pay. A few quality of life improvements could help mechanics in the future, but gameplay is solid.

  Thought it would be cute to name a coffee after my husband. Big mistake. Customers are slandering my husband and think he's too cheap. Sounds like I'm selling people and not coffee. Cannibal Tycoon. Pros: -Addicting gameplay -Campaigns are fun to teach gameplay mechanics gradually Cons: -MY GOLDEN BEAN GOT STOLEN! IT WAS 250 DOLLARS!!! -I didn't know I had to buy soap and everyone was mad at me -WHO LETS THEIR DOG POOP IN THE BATHROOMS??

  It's enjoyable at the start, but quickly becomes monotonous, as the entire "business model" that you have to build is: buy more deco -> customers pay more -> win. Too bad it's not more challenging.

No, I’m a “Coffee Zealot”. Thank you for developing this game and making my dream of managing a coffee shop come true! I studied coffee beans, bean roasting, hand-brewed coffee, and latte arts for almost 10 years. I have been involved in all aspects of related to the production of coffee, except that I have not grown the beans myself. I did all that by self-learning. I never worked in a coffee shop before. Yet my long-lasting fantasy is managing a coffee shop of my own, which provides fine hand-brewed coffee and desserts, with light piano jazz music, being a quiet resting place around the corner. But due to real conditions I could not really open a coffee shop like this. This game achieves my dream to experience everything of running a real coffee shop. I adore this game, so I figured that it still has some improvements can be done. As far as I can understand, the core of this game is Coffee creation. However, this is restricted by game system that ingredients can only be added according to customers’ preferences. In the game I made my menu full of different brewed coffee, yet a customer entered the shop, leaving a bad comment then left. He said, “I just drank Espresso, so I want no more.” So why are you entering my shop exactly? Are you sent by my competitors to leave bad comments? To meet everyone’s preferences, I must make a lot of strange-flavored beverages which made my coffee shop does not look like a coffee shop anymore. I’d say this is a coffee shop simulator, not a milk tea shop simulator nor a dessert shop simulator. I’d wish to add more contents about coffee brewing. Secondly, the employees are too tricky。I have to schedule their shifts according to their preferences, to keep them training, to keep raising their payments, but they are still likely to quit for no reason. I would like very much to brew coffee for my customers personally. Would you consider adding a shopkeeper RPG mode, allowing players to create their own shopkeeper, customize the appearance and skill values, allowing the shopkeeper to actually participate in the production of coffee in the store, rather than just sitting in front of the monitor doing some mouse-clicking? To be honest, I hate those employees. Thirdly, the operation system is somehow problematic. For example, Mouse Right Button is bind to both Cancel of the construction AND Camera angle adjustment, which leads to a situation that when I want to change the angle of camera to build something, but the selected furniture was cancelled by right-click. Also, some popup windows are to press ESC to exit, while some other windows must click on X around the corner. This unstandardized UI operations can easily make player feel confused. Lastly, I would ask, what’s the Tab for? I know it’s called a “movie mode” but I don’t feel any “movie” thing in this. You could possibly add something to construct mode to distinguish from movie mode, like some Gridlines would help. Yes, players love Gridlines. One more thing: Robbery is bound to happen at night. Am I setting up my shop in a gangster’s headquarters? This seems to be forcing players to hire security guards, just for the sake of this one employee. To be honest I don’t think this is quite necessary. Sorry about complaining, but I do really hope the game could be very much better in the future. The game after all has no competition of a same theme. This is the only coffee-themed simulation game with still something that can be improved. This is the game I’ve played so far, that is the closest to realize my fantasy. EA’s SIMS can’t do this. Keep updating and keep up the good work! ======CHINESE VERSION====== 我属于不喝咖啡会死星人。 我研究咖啡豆、豆子烘焙、手冲咖啡、拉花已经快10年了，除了我没亲自种过豆子，其他与生产咖啡相关的环节我都参与过。 我一直以来就想自己经营一家街角的咖啡店，提供精品的手冲咖啡和甜点，放点轻曼的钢琴爵士，成为街角最安静的那个憩所。但由于现实条件的约束，我没办法真正的开一家店。 而这个游戏几乎让我实现了经营一家咖啡店我能想到的所有细节。还能让我自主开发命名新产品然后上架，我能在这个游戏中体验到真正经营一家咖啡店的所有感受。 所以毫无疑问我买这款游戏的时候一点都没有犹豫。毕竟实现了长久以来我的一个幻想。 不过目前而言还是存在一些缺点的。 首先是内容偏少，主打的游戏内容是咖啡创造，但条条框框太多，无法根据自己的想法来创造咖啡，只能根据客户的偏好来添加成分，否则就卖不出去。然而毕竟是咖啡店模拟器，不是奶茶店模拟器或者甜品店模拟器，还是能希望增添更多与咖啡出品有关的细节，进一步优化群体喜好。我在菜单上一列的各种不同品质的咖啡，客人进店以后留个差评说“我刚喝过咖啡我不想喝了”，那请问你进店干啥来了？竞争对手派来的差评员吗？ 其次，员工太难伺候，简直就是在为他们打工。除了要按照喜好排班不说，还喜欢辞职。不培训就辞职，不提薪就辞职，甚至毫无理由也会辞职。请考虑添加店长RPG模式，允许玩家自己创造店长，自定义店长样貌和技能值，允许店长实际在店中参与咖啡的制作，比如设定水量、温度、豆子研磨细度、豆子品种等等这些关键因素，而不是只会坐在屏幕前点点点。说实话我嫌死那些店员了。 最后，可能是制作组缺乏经验吧，这款游戏的操作手感不是那么好。首先是取消建造和视角移动都是鼠标右键，这导致很多时候我想换个角度造东西的时候发现无法建造，因为我在右键调整视角的时候，手上选好的家具被右键取消了；还有，有些窗口是按ESC退出，有些窗口一定要按X退出，这种UI不统一的操作风格让玩家感到费解。最后，还有一个不知所云的Tab键电影模式，然而并没有察觉到和正常模式有什么区别，就是右键视角变得更难受了。我认为没有起到它应有的作用。 再补充一个让我觉得很无语的设定：一到晚上必定打劫。我是在黑帮总部开了个店吗？这似乎是在强迫玩家雇佣保安，就仅仅只是为了这一个员工而设计的游戏内容。说实话我觉得挺没必要的。 缺点说这么多，其实还是希望游戏变得更好，这款游戏毕竟没有竞品，可以说是咖啡题材模拟经营游戏的一枝独苗，还是有大量可以改善的地方。这是我目前玩到的离实现梦想最近的一款游戏，EA的模拟人生都做不到这点。 继续更新，继续变好。

  It's pretty...but I'm so bored. You just build high style items and make recipes that match the customers needs(even if they're absolutely ridiculous), and you only get to decorate a VERY small area. It's almost like a demo for a full coffeeshop tycoon where you actually control a company not a single shop.

  Do I recommend this game? Based on my expectations and experiences, it's probably a no. But as always, YMMV depending on what you want out of your game. I love business sims and tycoon games, and have many. Including restaurant sims like Chefs Life. I was attracted by the similar idea of being able to design your own menu items, but to be honest... it's just not fun and doesn't really allow you any real level of creativity assuming you want to progress in the game. If you want a business sim, this is not that by any stretch. Let me explain the several reasons why: The menu items: You have various categories of customers and they have very, very specific wants. Often entirely impossible wants. They want a 'less than 50 calorie coffee with more than 5 unique layers that includes whipped cream and multiple toppings'. Ok. Yeah. Do the maths? And while it might be vaguely accurate, these demands change per audience category pretty rapidly - like every few game minutes - so that you're basically forced to readjust every recipe over again ad infinitum because intrusive popups tell you to. Even on 'staples' like the default espresso, cappuccino and flat white. So you're basically left just adding the exact things that are demanded in the quantities they're demanded to make an entirely nonsensical menu items, assuming they're even possible. Try making real coffees that exist in the real world, and no one will buy them. Because apparently what business people really want is butter and mayonnaise in their coffee. And no coffee. Because they don't like caffeine. The economy: Is plain daft. The only reason it 'works' at all is because you have ridiculous multipliers that are essentially calculated on how expensive a chair or table you buy which apparently makes customers pay up to 12 times the price of the menu item each and every time. There are snacks to sell too, but to be honest, I'm not even sure how that bit even works. You aren't given any idea what the markup is on what you sell. Except to say that after you've progressed a bit, each customer is perfectly happy to pay upwards of 100 dollars for a drink and a cupcake. The 'research tree': Honestly, it just doesn't make a lot of sense as implemented in a coffee shop scenario. It really just feels like artificial blockers to progressing to slow you down. Now, I realise that that essentially is exactly what research trees are designed to do as a game mechanic, but here you're trying to say I have to progress to a level where I can research how to use a slice of lemon or add a cookie? really? There's a lot of other problematic things too. No coffee shop needs to employ 24 hour cleaners! Who aren't very good at their job even when trained to the max levels (which costs thousands of dollars). The alternative is a mind numbing mini game of clicking every piece of trash that's left behind every few seconds. Why can't waiters pick up during quiet times, per real life? Why can't you add bins that customers would use? I get that cleaners are basically 'this extra money sink will stop you having to clean up manually' but they're so inept in practice that it just isn't true. You still have to do it yourself unless you want customers complaining about the stink. It's the same with handymen. They don't really justify their employment or cost, save for the fact that stuff in the game seems to deteriorate rapidly (like, your coffee machine is sparking and belching smoke at least once a day) and again it's a bunch of manual clicking to rectify even when you do have handymen because they're so pointless in practice. I have yet to work out why on earth a coffee shop needs security guards. I have not encountered any customer behaviour in the game that warrants it. There's a bunch of other stuff that needs to be addressed in my opinion, such as the obnoxious challenges in sandbox mode could do with an option to turn them off entirely rather than manually dismissed popups every few seconds with stupid random demands. No, I'm really not going to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars in the next 4 hours by buying 10 paintings for a reward of a few ratings points. Mostly because I'm running an outdoor coffee truck with no walls... There's in game events that are equally obnoxious. Like the 'health inspector' fining you a huge chunk of your money for a made up violation you have no control over. It's not like it happens because trash levels are high. It's just a mechanic whereby you get your money randomly taken away because the game thinks that's fun. The order of events seem to be extremely linear too. Upgrade to the top quality of coffee machine and customers start complaining about the lack of air conditioning instead (Again... in an outdoor coffee truck where you can't possibly utilise them...). Hire a cleaner, and they'll immediately start complaining that he's incompetent. I mean, as I said, they are... but if hiring already questionable staff to improve the quality almost always turns out to be a negative, why would you? I get that new challenges will present new problems, but if that's all you seem to gain out of progressing in the first place, frankly you're better off not doing it at all. The way to 'win' this game is keep it basic and just eventually tier up the quality of your ingredients and prices to max. The whole thing amounts to a lot of formulaic business sim stuff crammed into a scenario where they don't really work unless you just suspend literally all belief that there's any sense to the world in which this exists and ignore the weird propped up economy, nonsensical demands and nonsensical challenges. I also have an issue that the game seems to send my whole PC into overdrive in a way that literally no other game ever has managed to do. Temperatures rocket and fans start whirring up to max. I mean, sure, the game is quite pretty, but it shouldn't exactly be taxing on a gaming rig that can play most AAA games on max detail settings without flinching. If you're just looking for a bit of a micromanagy casual clicker, it's fine. It's pretty. You can decorate your shop. You can edit your own coffees. But it isn't really a tycoon game as such and for all the reasons I've stated just isn't all that fun in the end. It always feels like you're just plopping down items or moving sliders to game the system because the economy of the game simply doesn't allow for any real freedom or creativity, even in sandbox modes, rather than running a business your way. Of course, I'm only focusing on the negatives as I saw them as an avid tycoon fan and why I wouldn't personally recommend it because It's just not really what I expected or wanted. I'm really not trying to trash the game, because it's kind of cute and has a lot of endearing qualities and looks like it has a fairly responsive dev team. Which is why this is probably the longest review I've ever written to justify my rating.
