I had super high hopes for this game, being somewhat of a fan of the previous Dynasty game, and even recommending it, but seeing that the devs continue to abandon all hope of common sense in the gameplay just leaves me frustrated. In a land where horses can't sprint more than 40 yards, seeds weigh more than stones, and the MOST. UNINTUITIVE. CRAFTING SYSTEM EVER. I'm left with waiting until a 3rd person town manager/builder is developed by people who have actually left a basement. I was a day one purchaser; like I said, I was excited for this title. But left shortly after due to no ultra-wide support. Having given them a couple months to possibly rectify this problem I returned only to find, they have indeed not remedied this issue. But, seeing as how we're in a bit of a lull from decent new titles, I figured I'd give it another college try and play at a lower resolution. After another few hours of game play being completely lost on how to progress, given spotty (this is a breathtaking understatement) progression instructions only to find out, I can go no further. Past updates have left my character in a void with key missing elements that I can get beyond outside of starting over. Ok, it's irritating, but I'll bite. Another 4-5 hours in, and I'm back where I started, but am at least able to get beyond where I was. When I say the crafting isn't intuitive I really mean the conceptualization of it, is as confusing as the menus themselves. Keep in mind the "newcomer quest" is actually out of order, so you can't even rely on this is a very rough ethereal guide to at least let yourself know you're heading in the right direction. "B" or build menu crafts things when you have a hammer, but really it's placing them, despite being called building. The "I" menu (no fucking clue what that stands for) is actually how you build IF and only if the hammer isn't in your hand. If it is, then it's B, but it's different items. ffs. You can't finish the "newcomer" quest until you've made a bed and slept in it. You can't build a bed, until you've build a workshop. now you can BUILD a workshop (which goes into the ether), but you can't build it, unless you're in your house. and don't use "build" cause that's actually place menu and you won't find it until you've built it in the workshop....which by the way - the building of the workshop is the last item in the newcomer quest, before the building of the bed (which you need the workshop for) and then placing your bed. Confused? YEAH, me too and I just fucking did it. All in all, I'm sad that this game (for me at least) is so convoluted and confusing. And yet, another game that is driven by rapid degradation of tools, and slow progression, based on an actual lack of content, sadly is the norm for developers today. Hopefully the crowd will (I imagine they already have) have a polite and decent way to convey this to the devs so it's worth going back to at some point, but I just can't be there for this initial nails on a chalkboard experience.

Wow...just wow. I dont even know what to say about this one. This first popped up on my radar a few weeks ago, and I got very excited. I was in the middle of RDR2 playthrough and thought how fun it would be for there to be a city building game set in the old west. Its been tried before a few times, but devs just can't seem to grasp the setting - especially over seas devs (looking at you This Land Is My Land). As soon as this was available, I strapped in. Completely ready to spend the entire weekend on this. Man, am I glad I refunded. Short version - It's slow, janky, ugly, has horrible writing, what VO there is sounds like it came from an AI, awkward 3rd person, terrible controls and the most confusing UI I've seen in quite some time. Some buttons won't work, some seem to only work with keyboard (there is no remapping). The graphics quality looks like something from late 90s. All characters walk like minecraft characters. The dialogue is goofy to the point of cringe (Grabthar's Hammer reference...in the old west? What the heck was the writer thinking?), and it goes on forever. I literally played 40 minutes of this game, and 38 minutes were VO, terrible cut scenes or the worst dialogue I've read in quite some time. Okay - I wont rant any further on the technical issues. Its EA and I'm sure some of this will change. But the most glaring part is that the writer and director has ZERO understanding of the "Old West." I mean this should be simple - watch a couple westerns, a season or two of Deadwood and a playthrough of the RDR games. Copy what they did, add building and exploration -BAM; success. No, this is like some sort of juvenile cartoon of what someone who heard someone else talk about the Old West, then decided to give it their best shot. But they got everything wrong. I'm still trying to figure out how your mom is 40, you're ostensibly in your late teens - early 20s, she still calls you "Half Pint", you have an estranged older brother and sister, and missing father, you have no memory of them and somehow your mother shows you a photo at the same time she explains to you what a daguerreotype is and that it;s brand new. But the picture is from 20 years prior... End all be all, Medieval Dynasty was probably flash in the pan, and Toplitz is probably a one trick pony. We'll see how further development on this will go, but I assure you I will not be picking up Pirate Dynasty or Sepoku Dynasty in EA after this clown show. EDIT 2-16: TOLPLITZ is actively deleting some threads that are criticizing the game. I was only in one thread - one that was very civil, and was providing some decent direction for the devs. After about an hour, it's already gone. Take that for what it's worth.

Well… I really hoped that all the negative reviews were overly harsh, I have waited for this game for a long time and was really looking forward to playing it….. but, well.. yes… it is certainly not what I expected, which may be my own fault due to expecting a game like Medieval Dynasty (even exceeding said game due to being newer ) To start of positive… the game ran fine and hardly any bugs (a very few graphical hiccups’) But… This game seems old, very old in every aspect from form of dialog ( really annoying dialog form) , weird and unpleasant movements, inventory management , non-vocal, identical NPC´s, reasonably ok world graphic but this do not stretch to anything else, and sadly I could keep going.. I bought the game despite of the bad reviews and was very open-minded when entering the game… but I had to give up after little more than 2 hours… so I will shelve it for now, and pray to higher powers that there will come a seriously huge make-over at some point… ( and size up the horses, why must it look like a giant on a pony ? ) I´m sorry to the DEV´s for adding another bad review, I had really hoped not to, so fingers crossed for being able to write a better one later on.

Oof.. this game is rough. How can Toplitz (The Publisher, not the Dev) have such a good game with Medieval Dynasty and then be ok to release this as is? The optimization is horrible. The animations are delayed and stuttery. The graphics are very unimpressive. I understand this is in Early Access but I can't recommend in this state. Edit: For the people arguing that this is an unfair review of an EA title. "Early Access is a place for games that are in a playable alpha or beta state, and are worth the current value of the playable build." From Steam's own TOS. This is not worth the current value. Especially when the EA disclaimer states "The game has been tested for performance and runs smoothly". Edit: and thanks for the response dev. I believe you CAN make this game into something special. It just needs more time to bake. As of right now it is super rough and I can't recommend.

A large number of my games are Early Access, I also participate in closed beta's. I participated in Medieval Dynasty's EA all the way to release. This is not EA, this isn't even Alpha. This is an embarrassment. I usually buy the 'support' editions and patiently work through EA hiccups. But this cash grab atrocity? Not happening, refunded.

Sadly I can't recommend this game to anyone in the state that it is in. This is more like pre alpha stages as the game is far from even early access due to it's unplayability. I loved medieval dynasty and had high expectations for this game and was really looking forward to it due to my love for the wild west. Over the 4 hours that I played I ran into various game breaking bugs that crashed the game just by opening UI, a lot of quests I had to restart the game to progress through or completely start a new save file because of those bugs bugging out the current save. Overall I can't recommend it especially for the price that it is... if anything I would of released this as a early access demo but make note that it's pre alpha. Don't lie to us fans just to get our money... it hurts. Especially if we had set aside funds specifically for the game to only have it end in disappointment and a loss of refund ability due to having to waste time finding workarounds. I regret not just stopping my attempts to play and just refunding the game at 2 hours... and with the lack of bug fixes and real content being added... it just is a waste. Please don't spend your hard earned money on this, not now. If the game improves I will change my review but right now I give it a 1/10 especially since it is not noted that this game is far from early access stages.

Anyone expecting that Wild West Dynasty, produced by Moon Punch Studios, will have the same quality as Medieval Dynasty, produced by Render Cube, just because they are released by Toplitz, will be fairly disappointed. While the overall gameplay of WWD is the same as MD, that is it. There is a glaring difference between WWD and when MD was first released. I would consider WWD pre-alpha. Furthermore, I question the maturity, or lack thereof, of the devs, who instead of turning the other cheek as critiques, constructive and not, come in, waste time with debates over what it means to be early access. With 40+ years in hardware and software design, quality assurance, and management, I have heard a wealth of reasons why this or that does not work. Often there is a time when one has to cut the power or "shoot" developers to get a product out of the door, which appears to be the case here. Early access is a great concept, as it allows for cash flow to devs and early adopters provide valuable testing, feedback, and suggestions -- something if you had to pay for, would be quite expensive. But the level of expectation rises non-linearly to the offer price. If Toplitz release a limited version for $5/$10, WWD’s current level of quality would not be as much of an issue. At $20, the current quality is much harder to accept. Anything over $30, and WWD better sparkle like a gem and exceed most expectations. Toplitz "screwed the pooch" by forcing WWD out at this price; and, dare I say, having it ride the coattails of MD. This better not be a "cash-grab," though with a DLC, and other packs already available, one wonders. It would have been better to offer a lower price or even a limited free version. They clearly underappreciated the fact that the "free" testing and feedback (i.e QA) is worth more than that extra $10+ they got. Do not worry, I will not be asking Steam for a refund. I am a sucker for underdogs, as long as the devs swallow their pride and focus on fixing the basics quickly. Furthermore, I will follow up with a more detailed list of what needs to be fixed in the community hub. However, I will also not suggest this game to anyone unless they are willing to experience the trials and tribulations as WWD is improved and polished.

This game was not ready for release and to everyone giving crap to people who are upset about this fact here are a few things to keep in mind 1.This is a company that charges for this game, it's not something they did out of the kindness of their heart so no they don't deserve anything except for what they earn. 2.Not the same devs as Medieval Dynasty and as far as I can tell this is their first game so they have earned zero good faith, and the final point is ea is not a shield, there is a difference between missing features or bugs and a broken unfinished beta test From Steams Terms of service on ea: Don’t launch in Early Access if you can’t afford to develop with very few or no sales. There is no guarantee that your game will sell as many units as you anticipate. If you are counting on selling a specific number of units to survive and complete your game, then you need to think carefully about what it would mean for you or your team if you don't sell that many units. Are you willing to continue developing the game without any sales? Are you willing to seek other forms of investment? Make sure you set expectations properly everywhere you talk about your game. For example, if you know your updates during Early Access will break save files or make the customer start over with building something, make sure you say that up front. And say this everywhere you sell your Steam keys. Don't launch in Early Access without a playable game. If you have a tech demo, but not much gameplay yet, then it’s probably too early to launch in Early Access. If you are trying to test out a concept and haven't yet figured out what players are going to do in your game that makes it fun, then it's probably too early. You might want to start by giving out keys to select fans and getting input from a smaller and focused group of users before you post your title to Early Access. At a bare minimum, you will need a video that shows in-game gameplay of what it looks like to play the game. Even if you are asking customers for feedback on changing the gameplay, customers need something to start with in order to give informed feedback and suggestions.

Boy, this game is... rough. If you came here hoping for Medieval Dynasty in the west, you're going to be disappointed. Yes, it's an early access title as is the norm these days, but it feels like it's barely out of alpha. The graphics are straight out of a 90's title and the handling is janky at best and flat out frustrating at worst. The writing is... well, not what people usually play these games for so it's easier to ignore, but still pretty jarringly bad when you do try to pay attention. They definitely should have let this bake a little longer before letting it out because the initial impression is not a good one, especially for those of us who enjoyed MD. I hope they continue to improve the game and I'll update the review once they get some more patches in because I love the concept, but for now I would recommend you wait if you're on the fence.

I wasn't going to bad mouth this game and just take a refund. But my request was denied so.... This game is not EA, it is alpha. Walking/Running animation is non-existent. "Dakota West" (yeah, that is his name) moves like he is on a segway. Need to jump up or down a cliff/rock, that is funny. Good luck with that. Gonna hunt an animal? Wait till you see that animation, they drop a solid second after being hit. Not to mention their are no sound effects. Which is kind weird when you are dying by eating poison or being "mulled" by an animal. Again, that animation and lack of sound effects leaves you to wonder is the animal just walking near you or killing you? But don't worry about all that, you will get lost in the excellent missions and forget how bad the gameplay is. My favorite mission is "Go Find the Kids". Some dumb babysitter lost 4 children and desperately need your help, go find them and return them to her. Oh by the way, all 4 are within 10 feet of this girl. You walk 3 steps start a conversation with kid one and walk her back only to repeat 3 more times. But the conversation and dialog are paaaaaainful. No voice acting, so you have to read some BS. Didn't enjoy that mission, no worries go help Roger with the elevator. Cause that was a thing in the west. Go talk to Roger (walk 5 steps to Roger), go to the elevator (walk 5 steps to the elevator), walk back to Roger (walk 5 steps to roger), walk back to the elevator (walk 5 steps to the elevator), walk back to Roger (walk 5 steps to Roger). Congrats, mission accomplished! I'm so pissed they separated $20 bucks from me. For anyone saying, what do you expect for the price, my answer is a game at least 1/3 as good as RD2 since I can buy it for $60. This game should be free, and even then I would question why anyone would play.
