Why did they put the best girl on the first route?

Baldr Sky I have been playing this for the last Month, and all in all, it was a fun journey, with it's up and downs. Now, let's get down to the gritty, shall we? I don't wanna post spoilers so i won't be as detail'd as i would've liked (or else the text will be filled with black bars) * Gameplay was quite fun, although i wish lvling weapons was easier so i could change tactics and not basically play with the same weapon layout the whole game. Later on i wanted to change layout for example, but lvl'ing and unlock requirements really got in the way here. Final Boss battle was an extra pain in the ass, and not in a good way. * I liked the setting quite a bit. I dig Sci-fi, and the whole talk about ''online'' lives is very relatable. Aren't most of us connected to the internet basically 24/7 nowdays? * I liked how the game used the whole Amnesia thing and how the game went about it...at first. The pacing however made it a bit annoying... * Pacing, pacing. The one big thing holding the game back, and it's a big major issue. If i didn't have as much time as i have atm, i would've never finished Baldr Sky and moved on to something else thanks to the pacing. Later on it got better, sure, but Routes 1-4 should've been condensed to 2 routes, at most. They are too similiar and there's alot of repition. And don't get me started on Reminiscence. This is probably one of the worst pacings i ever experienced (not just vn wise), and i used to play Trails. The ''skip already text'' function needed to be much better, too. * Pacing aside, i mostly liked the Story. * Route 1 -Rain- was good enough, and a cool intro to get you interested. Helped alot that Kou and Rain were a really cool duo lead together. They were partners, equals and helped each other in almost equal measure, and that's something i always love to see. * Route 2 -Nanoha- revealed quite a few important details, but Nanoha....was a really bad Heroine. * Route 3 -Chinatsu-....was a mess. I already said last week that if the games were seperate i wouldn't have continued to Baldr 2 after this. The route can be summed up with this pic. Easily worst part of the game, pacing was at it's worst here, and characters were way to ooc. I was truely like this through it all. The only thing i liked about this route was honestly a certain CG. * Route 4 -Aki- Man, Baldr 2 started really well and this route brought me back into the game again. Aki is a good girl, and this line basically sets the expectations & tone of the route. Sweet, fun and wholesome with a lot of cool reveals. The only thing i really have against it is that it got extra weird with a certain thing. The first route since the first route i truely enjoyed. Couldn't say no to that! * Route 5 -Makoto- Finally good pacing. Stuff moving fast, and the story actually diverges. Romance was eh tho. * Route 6 -Sora- started really strong, but got a bit standard at the end. I really would've liked it to be more twisty and not just the standard thing they used. Also very conflicted about a certain point at the very end. * I quite liked the Main cast (Kisaragi dorm inhabitants), the Villains however were complete and utter trash. Main one i saw coming from like Route 3 but he was still trash. * Rain was best girl to me. Not only was she a good heroine, but she also mostly acted as Co-lead during ever route except 3 and maybe 6. Doubt i would've liked Kou as much without her (especially with how much i disliked Kou during Route 3 lol), as their interactions were good, romantic or otherwise, and they had nice Chemistry. * Nanoha...ugh. She's a sweet girl, yes, but...she was a horny jealous crybaby. That's all she was. Really should've had more to her, like, dunno, Raising Heart or something. Liked her more outside her route. Nanoha in her route in a Nutshell. * Chinatsu... Liked her in flashbacks, liked her in later routes, but really disliked her in her own route. She needed a good route to truely shine. * Aki. The girl who wants to build a party with a Mecha and Witch in it and go on an adventure. Sees herself as the big sister of the cast and tries to help em all. She's just a sweet girl, who wants to take care of em all and be happy with them. * Makoto was quite interesting, i just wish the game wasn't...so *obvious* with her lol. * Sora is usually the type of character i love the most, and i liked her whenever she appeared, and her story in Roue 6 made me symphatize with her alot. Hyperactive and always wanting to help, she deserves happiness. However, her lack of screentime really hurts, and at the end i felt like something was missing for her to truely shine... Well, that can be also be attributed to the kinda forced romance between her and Kou. Even the explanation at the end didn't make that any better. What makes it worse that Kou and Sore have superb interactions and chemistry, and i would've liked to see a more natural progression in the romance between them, and not something that made feel like Chinatsu got really robbed. I ended up liking Kuu more at the end, especially with how active she was through the whole game. * Masa...True Bro. Maybe he was best girl all along? * I quite liked the Music. Has that late 2000s Sci-fi music i tend to like alot. Death Knell Rythm is probably my fav. Track. 7/10

One of the best and truly unique cyberpunk setting.

First off. Rain is best girl. No matter the route, she still loves you and works with you. Secondly though. The first 3 routes are pretty good. After Aki's route, the fact that you have to go and review everything just to get a few key pieces of information though is plodding as all hell and made me put down the game for a few months. Though to be honest once I went and powered through it, Makoto's route and Sora's route made up for it. Nearly constant action compared to the others. I'm about to do the true ending though. Definitely worth the buy. The game does build up all the little details that all come together at the end.

TL;DR In my opinion, this is an amazing visual novel for sci-fi/cyberpunk enjoyers - the overall quality of the product, the attention to detail and the worldbuilding are some of the best out there (also, the soundtrack is banger). The sheer amount of content that one gets for the price makes it good value for money. My thoughts: Going into it, I didn’t know much about Baldr Sky. I decided to read it on a whim and oh boy, was I immediately hooked by the setting. So, here I am, 146 hours later, spilling my thoughts out about this piece of art. The most polarising aspect of this VN will most likely be the fact that this is very much a hybrid VN/RPG. The RPG part plays a big, unskippable part of the VN. I haven’t read a VN that had actual gameplay in the way that Baldr Sky does, but I genuinely enjoyed it. I tested out all of the difficulties and here are my thoughts on them: Very Easy and Easy should allow virtually anyone to beat the gameplay parts without any difficulty. Normal offers a bit of a challenge but nothing too crazy. Hard and Very Hard are meant for players who are genuinely interested in the RPG aspect of the game and want to challenge themselves. Make no mistakes, the RPG part of the VN isn’t just something that was slapped together overnight. It is a fully developed system that allows different types of playstyles, much like any other RPG of this type. The story…is enjoyable. I enjoyed the different routes, but more than the story, I enjoyed the worldbuilding. I found the worldbuilding phenomenal and it really lets you immerse yourself while reading, to the point where I feel that my overall impression of the story would have been worse without it. As far as the story itself goes, I found that the pacing wasn’t the best. Some routes offered little to no plot development, whilst others moved the plot at breakneck speed. There is some repetition between some (not all) routes, though it’s not nearly as bad as some comments make it out to be. For example, Dive 1, Route 1 is your first route. Dive 1, Route 2 is identical to Route 1 until Chapter 4 (out of 14 Chapters) and then it goes its own way. You do have an option to automatically skip the already read text that’s identical, meaning you can get past the repetitive parts quickly. Dive 1, Route 3 and Dive 2, Route 1 are the biggest offenders of repetition as their stories are mirrors of each other, though both contribute to the overall plot in a different way. Dive 2, Route 2 and Dive 2, Route 3 are different from the previous routes. I will add one disclaimer - the ‘skip previously read text’ option doesn’t always work as intended. It will only skip if the whole scene that you are reading is word for word the same as you read it before. If there’s one new sentence or a word got changed in a sentence, it will not automatically skip (not even the parts that you have already read). This can be annoying for some, but it didn’t really bother me. You can still manually skip the read parts. Overall though, I did enjoy the story. Next, let's talk about the H scenes: Are they mandatory in order to fully understand the story? No. Do some of the H scenes add a bit of humanity to the characters, making them more fleshed out? Yes. Are some of the H scenes there purely for fan service with no additional context behind them? Yes. Are some of the H completely unnecessary? Yes. I personally read the VN uncensored. As a general rule, I dislike any form of censorship in art. My personal belief on whether it was necessary or not is irrelevant, because it’s not my work. I want to experience art as the creator intended for it to be experienced, whatever the reason behind it is. That’s pretty much it from me. This is definitely a VN that’s pretty high up on my list, next to Muv-Luv, FSN, Muramasa and the Science Adventure series. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who enjoys sci-fi/cyberpunk stories, and the amount of content that one can get for this price, puts a lot of ‘AAA Games’ to shame. If you do decide to dive into this VN, happy reading!
