  Stay clear until a lot more optimisations and development have been done. Bought the game very early on. Was pretty rough, but was hopeful it would become something. Have checked in as the updates happen, The last year or so the frame rates were really quite woeful and early on. For much of that year I cant even get the game to run. Crashes to desktop every time. I discussed this on discord months ago. Gave the crash files as requested, also gave my specs. Received a "Thanks, we'll look into it with all the other bugs" Months down the track, an update or two and still the same ...loading...drawing - and crash to desktop. Really wish I hadn't jumped so soon into another early access and pretty disappointing that the devs - although a small team, have not tried to reach out and work out individual problems. Guess I have been spoilt by small devs that go out of their way to assist in getting the game running for individuals. Others have also reported and received similar responses My advice would be to stay clear and wait till these major problems are sorted, Something is not right here and feel the dev may have bitten off too much. - Just a feeling, as I don't know the skills of this team at all. Hope I am wrong, would just like to be able to play a game I have paid for , happy for bugs , it is early access. 10th gen i7 Intel RTX2070 16GB

  Keep in mind I want to enjoy this game and like some features of it. I like that residential, commercial and industrial are each on one button and you cant just go right into building higher densities immidiately. I like it's overall simplicity. However, because I like the game I must criticize it. I understand the game is in alpha but it is hardly playable. Then once you build bigger cities it becomes unplayable. I've played city builders a lot more graphically intensive. It slows to a crawl in more sprawling areas. Placing roads and tracks is very glitchy. Tons of texture glitches above ground roads being placed in tunnels and placement textures not being removed after you placed your road or track. There's very strange rubberbanding with the trains and the UI is very strange and takes a bit over a second to switch views. You can tell this game has lots of spaghetti-coding. The devs need to go back in and overhaul the fundamental systems and optimize a lot of the code. I understand it's in Alpha but I don't recommend buying it yet.

  100% no. I've been playing this game throughout it's alpha and i've watched it gone from "buggy with charm" to just "buggy, overambitious, and smug with it's failure". There are massive problems with this game... - Soundtrack: Terrible; It's like transport Tycoons soundtrack reverb through a underwater accordion. (There's one good track, but you can't select/deselect tracks) - Performance: Grinds my high speed laptop to a crawl. - City Building: Pros: Realstic Density, Zoning, and Mixed use. Simulates the city centre effect well. A Sim City 2000ish kind of feel to the project. Cons: Buggy to all hell with a faulty grid system that snaps terribly (if at all), and simulation which makes SC5 look like a masterpiece. Traffic pops in and out (when it did, all the semis went to one, and i mean one building;effectively crippling my entire transportation system and throwing whatever products into this sad gas station) and public transit is bugged/doesn't work. I get it; this game is in alpha. But i've watched this game progress in the last year; and it hasn't been good. Major game breaking bugs are still present, the base the game is built on is flawed. Instead of fixing them, they've added new features, instead of fixing the base game. The general impression i get from the developer is "yes there are problems, but look a casino!" or "please hype this game for us on simtroplios/reddit....etc". The apathy of it all is put on the sleeve of this games shirt; unfortunately it brought a mesh tank top instead and doesn't care about it's self anymore, or you for that matter. Did i mention there's no intro/tutorial on half the mechanics in the game so it's just... half baked ideas everywhere and you have no clue what to do with anything? SC4 is the gold standard of city builders; good sim, graphics, and the simulation, though bugged, is fun as the bugs can be overcame. This game, is not fun. The simulation is not fun; it's overly predictable and forumlatic. It's fun watching a downtown forming, but getting to that point is hours of fighting with the game.When the game crashes, your done; seething from another bug or "quirk" that still stays in place after a year. It's ideas, that are honestly really good. But they aren't fledged out, delveoped enough; they are quickly coded buggy ideas and then it's on to the next one. This patchwork nature of its development is evident. If you want a glimmer of hope but want to be disappointed instead; get this. If you want a city builder that has detail, get skylines. If want a city builder with depth; get SC4.

  No updates since Febuary, no main branch updates this year. Will switch to positive once developer updates or communicates.

  Game is seemingly abandoned after not being updated for more than 10 months. I paid good money for this game. I expect at the very least some word from the developer on what's going on but we can't even have that.

  this is why steam needs to keep 50% of the money made from Early Access games to refund everyone 50% when a developer just abandons or rugpulls a game like this one right here.

As this is a simulaton game, FOV doesn't matter that much and I find 15 FOV is a happy medium of performance and visual appeal, but I know this might be issue to others.   As of the 2nd of July, 2020? This game doesn't have enough content to pay £15 for. Potential wise this could definitely be one to watch but potential won't keep you entertained after you drop £15 on what feels like a proof of concept. Pros: Huge map and cities feel much more like a real life scale Matters of taste: A real life city government isn't generally in charge of building a coal power plant like it would be in City Skylines and NewCity reflects that. There is no electricity, water or garbage and the associated pipes and powerlines. You might be for or against that. The visual style is very basic, probably because of how much raw map has to be rendered. I dig it but others might not. Cons: The zoning demand meter seemed to have no bearing on what zones are actually in demand. This could be zones allegedly in demand that aren't built when space is made available. Zone demand that is satiated by 5 squares while the other bar chart never goes down no matter how much you build. Slow pace: considering how expensive things are and how slow money is earn there really should be higher speed options for those of us who don't want to tab out while waiting for money to build up. Music, which to be fair is a matter of taste, is really bad. Many basic features you expect in a city builder just aren't there. Prime examples? Curved roads, pedestrians, non road paths Some random glitches - traffic just phases in and out of existence. Mass transit doesn't seem to function well where it has been implemented. However much RAM you think you need? Double it Feedback on how well your citizens are educated, or traffic levels, or land value? Any form of information required to run the city? All of it is very poorly displayed / given. The vibe of the entire product feels like a proof of concept rather than an actual game, or maybe something that came out 30 years ago (SimCity 2000 could honestly beat this one in some aspects) Don't do what I did and look at the description and think "huh that's my sort of thing" and look at the review and think "huh it says very positive" and impulse buy it. Because 2 hours later you will go back to read the reviews and realise half of them are on the basis of "great potential". I could have spent that money later instead, maybe the dev will get hit by a bus and it will never reach its potential, maybe the dev will take the cash and do a runner (okay that's unlikely, other reviews say hes a decent guy). Buying it now is an un-needed risk because there's nothing to tide you over at the moment and the price isn't due to change when its released properly.

  I have put over 5,000 hours in Cities Skylines in the past 5 years, and probably double that with Sim City 4 in less than 20 years. I play city-builders heavily. I find it refreshing, that the genre is being deconstructed and restored to earlier visual concept by the men and women at Lone Pines with New City. I highly recommend this game right now- if not for the experience of a sorta old-school city builder, then to assist the developers to make it more complex and finished it. The game is too far into development to allow it to falter. City-builders don't often have such ambitions 'New City' pursues. There are bugs, but I'm sure Lone Pines are looking at every log we send.

  If you're into City builders you shouldn't miss this one. Pros : * Huge maps !! (with no agent limit) * Very realistic features, way more realistic than other city builders (budget, city growth..) * Abundant, detailed information about your city and citizens * Watching the city grow (very realistic) from a hamlet to a metropolis * Frequent updates Cons : * Eats up RAM like cookies * Some bugs (but still an alpha) * Could include more buildings and more buiding variety (but there's an integrated builder tool). Can't wait for the workshop to be unleashed ; ) EDIT After playing 200+ hours I find the public transportation, city growth, agent behavior and overall UI very good. This is an excellent city builder that brings back the best of SimCity games while adding a lot of detail and features.
