  Enjoyed this digital version a lot and the AI's are decent. Make sure to watch the tutorial to see everything you can do.

  As of early 2023, the user interface for this game is still extremely poor. Although I'm quite familiar with the physical board game, it took me a while to figure out the interface of the game. I was stumped for quite some time as to why I couldn't locate the boards of my AI opponents, and I'm left to conclude that it's just not possible to see their boards as easily as I can view mine. There is a way to see what the opponent has done, but it's extremely cumbersome. There is no undo button, so if you're the type of player who needs to click on things to think out a turn, this game is definitely not for you. The developer has an item in their "todo" list from May of 2022 saying they'd like to implement Undo, but thus far it's not in the game. This is an extremely rough product and cannot be recommended. I don't normally write reviews, but I think it's important to warn other people away until this product reaches maturity. Although, given that it's been more than six months since they've promised an undo feature, I think the devs may have moved on to other projects. What a shame.

  It's been awhile since I've played the actual physical copy of Lorenzo, and I've only played this solo against the AI. The Hard AI is still Experimental and I think it needs some work still because some games it does a good job blocking and anticipating moves while others, it doesn't. But for just getting the Lorenzo il Magnifico experience generally, this gets a big thumbs up from me.

  Lorenzo il Magnifico is the digital adaptation of a physical board game of the same name. It is essentially a worker placement game where you move your family members (workers) to certain spaces on the board to gather resources, spend them, acquire buildings, territories etc. and score victory points. However, that description doesn't do the game justice. The amount of different strategies you can use and the amount of decisions that you can make to decide what to focus your efforts on is both impressive and fun. Moreover, the fact that no matter what you decide to focus on and what strategy you decide to use, it's all viable, which is a testament to how good the design is. In one game, I decided to focus on acquiring characters and ventures and in another game, I went with territories and buildings. Both were perfectly valid. I never once felt that there was that one winning formula that I had to follow to win. It gives you the freedom to pursue pretty much any game plan you like and that's great. The look of the game in general is very good. The Dev has done a fine job of adapting the board of the physical game to this version. The UI is clear and intuitive and the iconography is easy to interpret and understand. The game does have it's problems though and with it being an Early Access title, it's to be expected. I have encountered a few bugs here and there. These range from simple text overlaps to not getting the resource from a space I went to. Thankfully, these have been few and far between and so far, nothing out right game breaking has occurred. Having said that, the game is perfectly playable in it's current state and the Dev has been frequently interacting with the players so they can be informed of bugs that pop up and gather suggestions to improve the game. They have also regularly been releasing bug fixes and other updates to make the game better. This includes a recent update that drastically changed, and vastly improved the bottom part of the UI. All in all, a very good game that's definitely worth a purchase right now. Yes, it's a little rough around the edges but considering how active the Dev has been, I imagine that won't be the case for long.

  I have never bothered posting a review on steam before. This game is simply an abomination compared to the board game. LiM is a great board game. Seriously, one of my favorite board games, and I own quite a few (not to be a braggart). All they had to do was port it to the computer with similar art and iconography. This is not that. I don't understand the choice of making a digital version that makes you ill prepared to play the actual board game with different art and iconography. I also don't understand the self aggrandizing ego stroking of bad renditions of some people presumably involved in the game (not sure if it's just people involved in the digital version or what, but don't care. A person wearing glasses and some regalia is out of place and unwelcome, and so are the rest, even you, adorable cat) because it doesn't translate to the theme or the art style of the board game. I don't understand who this is targeted towards, as fans of the board game will undoubtedly be irritated at best and wholly and completely angry at the execution at worst (guess which one I am?), and those who haven't played the board game will be unimpressed by this whole thing and certainly won't rush out to buy a physical copy. Really wish they would reevaluate their approach, use better iconography that matches the board game (seriously, cubes to represent resources may be a necessity in the board game world, but portray a log or a stone when it doesn't cost you extra in a digital version) and make it an experience that sells people on to the board game. Really and truly a travesty, and everyone involved should feel a deep sense of shame.

  Great game, very enjoyable resource management and psuedo-tableau builder euro-game. In fact those new to euro-gaming (I know this is a funny board gaming term :) might like to start here as it is really approachable (if you play against 1 opponent). Anyhow I think the digital adaption is handled quite well, you will get used to the UI.

  Lorenzo is a great boardgame, but this implementation is decidedly lacking. It's buggy, the designers emphasized developing mediocre graphics over a clean UI, and information is hidden throughout play unless you navigate through a confusing book menu. On top of that, the game doesn't allow you to revert turns if the game misinterprets what you wanted to do, so it's easy to say, for example, do a production run without activating any of your buildings. My group seemed to be willing to accept these faults for a chance to play lorenzo online, but it's difficult for me to imagine why the original card assets weren't used instead. I won't be returning to this one.
