  It's amazing to see how far FMV have come since the old days and it's downright appalling to see how bad the controls are in this game. The visuals, the acting and the soundtrack are absolutely great (kudos to the actors and the composer Austin Wintory) but the controls are absolutely terrible and get in the way of the enjoyment of the game. I got stuck right before the end of my run because the game wouldn't let me click and drag to proceed so after trying for a few minutes and reloading the game twice I ended up watching the two last minutes on Youtube (that's as anticlimactic as it gets). Having players click and drag the mouse on the PC doesn't feel responsive at all in this game and it must be downright impossible for players with any sort of disability since at times you need to click and hold and drag the mouse further away in order to move forward with the story (full disclosure I'm not disabled but I've hurt my hand recently and I didn't expect the game to put me through that much dragging the mouse around). I can understand the time limited events being included for immersion but there is absolutely no reason why they couldn't make it easier to play the game. Last but not least, the game comes with audio files in eight different languages which is great (English, Arabic, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish) but chances are you will be playing in only one language so that's 11GB of useless data that you downloaded for nothing (definitely not ecofriendly) that will clutter your drive (the game takes 37 GB) so if you decide to give this game a try I would advise to go to: \Steam\steamapps\common\Erica\data\soundbanks and delete the folders for the languages you won't be using since that will save you about 11GB. I would entreat devs to consider some sort of accessibility options or controller support for the PC, especially considering this is not a genre that should require that much effort or dexterity on the player's part.

  Good story and actors but the controls are so awful that I can't recommend it. No controller support and you are more time clicking and dragging pointless stuff than making choices (which is the point of these games). There is no option for pauses when you need to make a choice and you cannot skip already viewed scenes when you play the game again. Basically good idea awful implementation. I'd recommend this only to fans of these style of games, to everyone else almost any title from Wales Interactive is better (Late Shift the best one)

  Excellent interactive movie. It's extremely well made and acted throughout, at times I couldn't tell wtf was going on and whose story to believe. But a word of caution, it's basically an intense psychological horror from start to finish, despite looking like a casual mystery from the outside.

I love both, this in-between thing not so much. controls should be as simple as clicking on choices that come up, but [b]making gestures is often very finicky[/b]. of course, [b]most choices are on a timer but pausing the game is possible[/b] while you're contemplating your decision. [b]no manual saving and autosaves only happen when they happen, without any indication[/b], so quitting at the right time to avoid losing progress can be tricky. and [b]you might want to back the save up occasionally[/b] to revisit decisions later because [b]scene skip is not available[/b] either. I can begrudgingly let it go because a second playthrough with alternate choices is a mostly new experience and I might not bother with more even if I can skip stuff. there are [b]6 endings[/b] here, so after the second run I went to youtube. videos are simple .mp4 files, sorted neatly by scene, but audio is stored separately, so didn't bother with them, nor with save backups. [b]settings are sparser than usual[/b], no volume or brightness settings, nor subtitle size options, only a toggle for it, one for easier reading and windowed mode, plus a bunch of languages. the only other fmv with multiple dubs that comes to mind is the really fun [url=https://steamcommunity.com/id/dohi64/recommended/1081510]she sees red[/url], but [b]there are 8 dubbed languages here, eating up an extra 10+ gb[/b], making it a whopping 35+ gb. the achievements button only brings up the steam overlay, always lazy, and with each hidden until unlocked (only after completing a run), there's not much point to it anyway. the price is lower than most wales interactive titles and it got cheap during sales pretty fast, which is understandable now that I've played it (not that quality and price have anything to do with each other most of the time). can't recommend it at full or even half price, [b]it's not great as a game, nor as a movie, but for 2-3 bucks it's okay for an evening[/b].

  [h1]Not bad[/h1] In my first play-through, I couldn't get the gist of it. But when you start paying attention to information you know in your second & third play through, you start sensing something surprising, something with expectations for all your answers & it does answer some, on every iteration. The most annoying thing in this game is interaction with props. I don't enjoy opening suitcases, turning switches & burning a lighter unless there are choices. I always find my self enjoying a sequence then all of a sudden camera freezes because it wants me to do something. This not only makes the player feel awkward but also breaks the buildup, it constantly keeps reminding you it's a game, even when it is not needed to. A playthrough on YouTube feels much impactful & intense then actually playing erica. It is a decent thriller underneath everything mentioned. [b]Score:[/b] 65/100

  This game does everything wrong in an FMV. The plot is a mess, and has plot holes so big I could drive a buick through them. I feel like the devs used the excuse it is a thriller for let's do random stuff and call it horror. Sadly that doesn't work. I grew up on the old 80s/90s adventure games and those made more sense than this did. To top it off, the game also has strange fake interactivity. Listen devs, no one wants to move a mouse to realistically open a door to make it interactive. Take a lesson from the old FMV games of the 90s and make it interactive like say Gabriel Knight 2 instead. Now that would be good interactivity. And whomever decided to give a time limit and also had the choices start to fade...no. Please no. I do not see well out of one eye and can't even turn my head fast enough to read all the choices with that time limit. I hate to think how someone totally blind in one eye would fair, but my guess is they would find this game impossible to play. Please respect our time and give us enough time to read the choices instead of adding fake tension with artificial time limits that in the end make vision impaired people unable to play this game well due to being unable to even read the choices in time.

  The time limits are so annoying. The idea is probably to force players to "trust their gut", but for me it was basically "i have time to read only half of the options, so I'll just pick one at random".

  I feel terrible giving this a thumbs down but here's why. Let me start by saying I absolutely LOVE FMV, no matter how good, bad or cheesy. The cinematography, sound, acting and unique programming is beyond amazing, stellar even. But no one knows what the hell is going on here besides the authors. It's super s-l-o-w and boring and kinda just farts along until you make a choice. But that's the problem, you never know what the hell you're actually choosing. The choices are usually so random and meaningless, until after you chose them and then guess what... you STILL don't know what the hell's going on!
