  I'm a simple man. I see genderbent Iori, I give all my money to SNK Jokes aside, the game is fun. It's the most fanservicey game you can get from SNK. And I don't mean just with booba, I mean like the little references to old games, like Shermie's dialogue with Kula (Haven't seen you since 2002) to the whole kawaii twists to old references. Like how MissX has her entire dialogues just be japanese girly versions of all of Iori's dialogues, and you can even get actual male Iori with his MissX costume say these things with his deep voice, which is freaking hilarious. You also get some amazing remixes to all of the character's teams songs, and the original songs are just idol heaven. Shoutout to the composers because they killed it. Honestly, the game is pure comedy and I loved it for what it is, which is not a serious fighter. If you want a serious fighter, buy KOF XV, but we ASOBI WA OWARI SA ♡＼(￣▽￣)／♡ around here

  Let's get this out of the way: the true stroke of genius behind this game was turning Terry Bogard into a hot chick. Props to SNK for that. I've had a blast playing SNK Heroines. Here's why: -the controls feel tight, and performing combos and finishers feels satisfying -the game is easy to pick up, but still has plenty of room to develop high level play -despite the dead online, there's a healthy amount of single player content (and unique cutscenes for each character combination in the "story"/arcade mode) -the unconventional mechanics make for an interesting take on a fighting game, encouraging unconventional approaches to playing (a strength, in my opinion!) If you're in the mood for a fun, charming fighting game, SNK Heroines is an excellent choice. May the Fatal Cutie alleviate all your gender dysphoria.

  Own this on my switch and just bought this on steam so i can play with my arcades stick. If you are looking for a deep, competitive, fighting game, this isnt for you. You will be disappointed. If you are looking for a fun fighting game that you can fuck around with, and play with your friends while drunk, then i recommend this game. This isnt a game you will play and compete in EVO. This isnt a game you will want to brag about and say "yeah, im really good at SNK Heroines" to show off to other people. On the switch, this is a game you take to the airport and play with a friend or yourself while waiting to board the plane or waiting to land. On PS4 or Steam, this is a game you play with your friend for good fun and laughs. This game isnt as deep as a ocean like Tekken or SF, but isnt as shallow as people say it is. There is some skills in this game. If you play against a good player, they will easily beat you in this game. -There is a dedicated button to block. -You can still fight against DLC characters in your game even if you dont buy the DLC, such as story mode. -There is 5 record slots in training and input display. -This game does have button configuration. Before you go into character select, you will end up on controller selcet. From there you can change your button layout. -On Arcade stick, to Grab, press X and A, to tag between characters, press Y and A

  Been playing since the PS4 version and game is still good here. The port seems to stutter a bit when it loads new items and areas on my rig, but as soon as it loads everything into memory the stuttering goes away. Hopefully that gets smoothed out in an update. Controller support works pretty well from my testing, it's confusing trying to find where to change your controls and how to do it, so for anyone lost, when you're at the controller select screen anywhere (where it will show your controller and [A] Attacker with possibly 3 other slots or 2 if you're in training mode), you can press left and right to change to preset controller configurations. If you move to a letter (A, B, C, etc.) and press Y/Triangle, you can then edit that configuration to your liking, and then you can save it. Very sparse graphical options, I couldn't even find an option for windowed mode. You're basically given some limited effects like bloom you can turn on or off and that's about it. As for the game itself, a lot of people get the wrong idea about the game. As it's a title by SNK, known for their more competitive games, they expect this to be a very serious hardcore fighter like SNK's other fighting games, and it's absolutely not that game. Even still, there's plenty of fun and competitive depth to be had in this more simplified system. There's no motions or blocking high or low or guessing left and right, everything is used with a single button press (or for some actions a button combination if you're using Arcade Stick controls). So mixup doesn't exist, which means the game has nothing to offer, right? Not at all. The game isn't built around making your opponent guess how to defend against you, it's built on the concept of meter management and a very, VERY limited shield. If you just think that because there's no mixup, nothing can harm you and all you have to do is block, you will get guard crushed in 4 seconds. That's not an exaggerated number, that is actually how fast someone can destroy your shield. Blocking is not a strong option, so you need to learn how to keep people off of you. You can guard cancel roll like in the King of Fighters series, but this takes a chunk out of your stamina meter. In this game, all of your special moves, supers, and tag cancels cost meter, so if you blow a lot of stamina on guard cancels, you won't have the stamina to perform combos and do damage or use a super, which is required to win the round. This makes your decision making a balancing act, do you blow all your stamina on big high damage combos so you can end the round faster, or save it for defensive options to prevent yourself from being hit? And then on top of all of that, you need to make sure that you have meter for a super so that you can finish the round. The focus on the stamina meter is the thing that brings the game together if you ask me. It's the mechanic that forces the most decision making and adds the most strategy to what actions you decide to make. Some people will bemoan the super to kill mechanic, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it, if you have managed your meter well, you can combo into a super VERY easily with anyone in the roster and get a near guaranteed kill, it's basically just the check to make sure you have planned the match out carefully and worked your way to a victory, else you give your opponent another chance to take you out instead. I say near guaranteed kill, because this is where the items come into play. This is another mechanic that a lot of people might be fairly against on principle, but in the context of this game I think it works really well. During a match, yellow spheres will generate and you can hit them to be given an item. Immediately the comparison you might draw is Super Smash Bros., where items are incredibly random and negatively affect the play in a serious way. This isn't an accurate comparison however. Items are not like Smash Bros because they do not spawn as the item itself and begin functioning immediately. Instead, the items are more like Mario Kart, where you hit the item box, get an item, and then decide how it is you want to use it. There's also no rubber banding in this game, so you're not ever going to get junk items because all of the items are decently useful. So the reason why comboing into supers is a near guaranteed kill is because you can use items at any point, which is the thing that makes them so interesting. Whether it's in the neutral, while blocking, or even while being combo'd, you can throw your item out whenever. This makes the functionality of items the same as a Guilty Gear burst in a lot of respects, but each item acts differently and you need to react to it accordingly. Some of them sit on the ground and will hit you if you touch them, some fall from the sky and need to be dodged, some fly across the screen. The combos in this game can get pretty long and very high damage, so without a combo breaker mechanic of some sort, the gameplay would probably get boiled down to a couple characters really quickly and become stale, but the items force you to pay attention to what your opponent has and get a feel for when they want to use it. You have to stay on your toes all the time, because a giant Daimon statue might drop on your head at any second. Items can also function in a similar fashion to assists, allowing you to close the distance or pressure the opponent. Chang's ball is basically an MvC1 Colossus assist and it's amazing. All of these mechanics together make the game really hectic and really fun, it maintains a lot of the concepts of fighting game fundamentals but in this totally new package that doesn't really play like any other game. As for the content, the base roster is 14 characters, there's a story mode, survival, and some customization features. It's a bit barebones to say the least. The customization is in a lot of ways pretty limited, but you'll still be surprised at how much stuff you can pull off with it. The customization in an expression is more than you'd think, but less than you'd hope. The story mode is oddly rich in character dialogue, every team combination has unique dialogue and on top of that the order of your characters also changes the dialogue. There's also special win quotes depending on which voice you have set for your character. The story itself isn't really complex or long or interesting, but if you have some favorite characters, there's a lot for you to get out of it. Survival mode is exactly what it sounds like, goes on forever until you lose, you don't recover your health fully between matches, occasionally the final boss will show up to challenge you. The DLC adds 4 more characters who are all really interesting and fun, but that also comes with an additional cost. For the amount of content, the price will probably feel a bit high to most people, there's not a crazy amount of stuff on offer here, but overall it's a solid and enjoyable game, and I'd say if you're waiting for a sale, $25-30 is a pretty fair price to wait for. I bought it full price twice on PC and PS4, mostly to support SNK, but also because I like this game and I'm not exactly upset over the price even if I do think it's high. I got my money's worth.
