  The game was about 40% written. There is no detectable ADC, the CIC plot should be able to be magnified, the compass, heading and direction of the sub never seem to quite the same. It seems that the developers got only so far in the development of the game, became frustrated, and then just threw it out on the market, apparently hoping no one would notice. There is a lot more to running a sub in combat than this game even tries to give you, i.e. no SONAR. I would wait to see if a more finish sub game comes out, or they actually do a 2.0 on this one before you spend any money on it.

  This is a Superb "Subsim" Game and it Takes ME Back to the 80'/90's and Playing "Silent Service 2" for Months on End..It is so Much Like it,although Much Better Graphics/Gameplay of Course, with the Movement of the Sea and Various Weather Systems..I have Played the Silent Hunter Series (3-4 and 5) and have NEVER got Far as they Continuously CTD..I Bought it through "Steam" Early This Morning and Have Been Playing it Ever Since..The Install was Extremely Quick (on Gaming PC) and it was Completed in Less than 30 Seconds..For People who Want to Know of the "Keyboard Options",Press the "Help" Button on Main Menu,which I didn't of Course but Found Out Later..I Would Certainly Recommend this to Other Fans of "Subsim" Games....

  Was looking for something to complement my SH 4.5 game. Good graphics, simple interface, easy to learn. More of an arcade style game that can provide enjoyment for a simulator sub captain seeking a simple diversion. Ran into some serious target mislocation issues on a dark night mission, where I sank two ships of three in the convoy from the bow tubes, and the third (behind the other two) remained. The map view showed the target at about 11:00 (350 relative bearing) and 1 mile range, but the TBT and periscope showed the data block at 90 deg RB, but no shillouhette in either location... Stopped playing at that point... May get back to it if the walkabout target situation is resolved, but so far not impressed Not nearly as immersive or comprehensive as SH3, 4 or 5, so those are still my "go to" sims for "serious" submarine combat. Cannot recommend unless the missing target situation can be resolved.

  Memories come back! Oh I loved to play Silent Service the days back on my Amiga. If you come from that game but want to have a modern look, you cannot do something wrong. It has some flaws here and there but the devs seem to respond quite well and fix bugs even though I haven't any yet.

  I always enjoyed the challenge of submarine warfare. Since submarines (particularly those of WWII vintage) are slow in speed and challenged in maneuverability, strategy and tactics take precedence over pure firepower. I enjoy this game very much, although there are a couple of frustrating bugs. (1) if you dive below periscope depth, and then ascend to periscope depth to begin an attack, the periscope icon fails to bring the conning tower into action. It is as if you are still deeply submerged. My workaround is to ascend to some depth ABOVE periscope depth and then click the periscope depth icon to descend and then have the periscope and torpedoes available. (2) Frequently (but now always), targets which appear on the map disappear from the surface binoculars. Thus the map and views seem out of sync. However, the game is still fun (for me at least) and I'm certain these issues will be fixed in future releases.

  This game is driving me nuts. On the map the target is in front of me. Through the periscope it is behind me. WTF?This is like Silent Service except it doesn't work worth a damn.

  For me, not arcade enough to be simple fun and not nearly realistic enough to be an absorbing simulation. I regretted spending the money.

  This game becomes very one-sided quickly and unrealistic. There is no skill at torpedoing something from a distance, no calculating distance and speed and firing the torpedoes off at an angle so that the ship sails onto them, in the end you can just sail up to a freighter on the surface and use your cannon - no evasive action from the ships. The destroyers are good and aggressive, I once disabled a battleship with a torpedo then could surface to finish it off with the deck cannon - and the battleship didn't respond? yes it may have been disabled but it should have returned fire from of at least some of its guns - meanwhile an escorting cruiser just sailed around in circles and did nothing about me! So - waste of money in my opinion

  Good graphics and easy controls, but the game play is really messed up. A ship will be right in front of me on the map, but when I go to periscope, deck gun, etc. suddenly the ship is 180-degrees at my stern! I'll close to within less than 1000 yards on the map, but when I look through the scope the ship is a miniscule dot on the horizon! What's up with that?? I'm sure this bug could be easily fixed, but the developers don't seen to have any incentive to do so. I was hoping to like it, but I cannot recommend it at this point in time.

  I'd love to recommend this game, but just can't - too many annoying bugs. Like most, I grew up with the Silent Hunters, but found them too complex (managing people etc.) so I wanted something that was simpler yet realistic. Here are some of the niggles;- - Tell it to go to periscope depth and it goes slightly lower so periscope can't be selected - have to manually set depth - Numerous situations where the map display does not equal the external display, I even had a ship on fire that didn't appear on the map and I couldn't sink it but I could crash into it! - Screen went blank when I went to change map magnification And as far as realism is concerned, a few extra features would hugely improve it;- - Indicate water depth - Report on acoustic sounds when submerged - Aircraft attacks during the day - Allow the fix of flooding and other things when surfaced - Ability to order a compass heading - Show the max. depth the sub can go to
