  extremely well written and engaging - definitely my favorite choose-your-own adventure-style text game! i'd write more if i was better at writing reviews - seriously, give it a try

  There are a select few perfect ways to play this game and you will be doomed to failure if you don't follow them - you'll miss out on many experiences you'd otherwise have. It doesn't matter if you think a certain decision your character could make might work. The author has a clear idea on what they think is right and wrong. It's also unclear that you'll miss out on content by making certain decisions. Being successful can actually punish you by locking you out of content after you seek to raise rank. There is no romance until game 2 and it's only 2 options. The third game has yet to be released. Overall, a linear story with merely the illusion of choice, IMO.

  Ehh, personally I think the game is too focused on making you some kind of superhero, jumping head first into every battle rewards you while approaching things more coolheaded leaves you with nothing. I finished the game with basically a penal legion with low morale and low loyality, which was an interesting experience but it really feels like that the game is not meant to be played this way. For example learning the language of my enemy, which I thought might prove useful, was utterly pointless because all it got used for was a single occasion with little to no importance. So yeah if you want to play a hotheaded soldier with plotarmor go for it, but if your objective is surviving the war and not glory then you will notice that the author simply didn't account for that. Edit: After some testing it seems like the game is specifically made for charisma and strength characters, while intelligence gets mostly ignored, or better said without charisma you don't get the opportunity to even use your brain: At one point my character was like :"I have a better plan!" , and the commander was like "I don't care, I just want everyone to agree that my plan is the best." So yeah the game was written for a very specific playstyle : "Command grabbing glory hound" Additionally there are choices that are simply wrong: saying "a pleasure" is rude ... you need to say "at your service"... which leads to a completely different reaction. How would I as a reader know how your fictional nobility works? Ultimately there is a "right" way to play while the other ways are pretty underdeveloped which invalidates the whole "choice"-aspect of the game.

  So i wasn't sure about this game going in, iv never played a text based game before but i wanted to give it a try, 6 hours later i purchased gun of infinity and lords of infinity.

  CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS ENOUGH It's the first in a current trilogy. With a 4th book now under way The writing is superb and i'm captivated every time I play through it It's a Choose your own Fiction story set in a low/high? Fantasy Napoleonic wars era. and arguably the best I've ever read the Author is very very VERY talented and draws me in every time I read it

  friend of mine sang his praises about this game, but getting snubbed after one choice, the only wrong one apparently, left me feeling like my choices weren't worth anything unless i picked the correct ones other than that, i didn't feel invested in this setting/genre that didn't draw me in as much as i wanted it to, it felt a little bland

  The game is very long, which is exacerbated by the lack of save mechanic which means you have to do the game in one swoop, however it really left the feeling that choices completely mattered in the game and simple choices can move you down a wholly different path. EDIT: I fixed the save game issue.

  You beautiful bastards did a great job making a very interesting text adventure and love the replayablility and diverse option to pursue.

  Brillant ! For fans of military adventures in the age of muskets this interactive book fulfills every dreams. I won't say anything about the plot and let it be for you to discover. Suffice to say the military atmosphere has been completely respected, the different plots are well done and there is great replayability. One thing that bugs me though : - "choose your own adventures" games are always about maximising some stats and use them correctly in battles. Once the pattern has been discovered, it lose some of its charms. However the game is still able to make the mechanics behind it plausible. Still, a gem for the price. 9/10 Would like the possibility to save for an upcoming title. Otherwise, keep up the good work and thanks for this !
