The final DLC for Shadow of Mordor casts you as Celebrimbor in his initial fight against the dark lord Sauron. You fight him with both subterfuge and straight on assault, and the focus is on branding units and turning the tides of battle by converting massive crowds of foes to your side. The combat is challenging but satisfying to anyone who has mastered the rest of the game, and the missions are good about giving you several different ways of taking on each objective. It is only a few hours long, same as the previous DLC, so it might be worth waiting for a sale if you need your $10 to stretch a bit. However, if you thought the base campaign was a pushover, or if you've ever wanted to face Sauron in an epic battle, this is the DLC for you.

Shadow of Mordor is a really good game, but unfortunately this dlc just doesn't deliver. Every mission that you have to do is brand a ton of uruk over and over again, and make those same uruk (that are pretty much already dead to begin with) survive for what seems to be forever. Sounds easy? Well don't worry because we'll add ten more enemies and captain with shields!! Forgot to protect one uruk? Don't worry! We will make you redo the entire mission! Tired of playing this one mission? Too bad! You have to finish it to unlock more missions!! To make things even worse, the developers nerfed Celebrimbor by removing a ton of abilities. All of this makes doing these missions in the bright lord feel like a chore to do. Overall, I wouldn't waste my money on this terrible and overpriced dlc.

If feels like it was a bit rushed.... Like I'll get orcs talking about the tower falling, a few mentions of the gravewalker which didn't happen yet in the story line and it keeps on dropping runes that regain my focus yet I have no focus to speak of. The fighting seems a bit more sluggish, like the elf gets confused if I want to dodge right away or it's animation is getting in the way. And getting rid of the stun jump over is just mean considering that was my main tactic for taking care of berserkers and shields other than just focus bowing them down which no more focus so shadow brand is the way to go. It seems to only embrace the branding mechanic which it gets a bit tiring just touching orc faces all day long. The other DLC I'll definitely recommend. This one not so much.

After playing the base game, and the first DLC, and enjoying both, it pains me to say it, but The Bright Lord falls short. It introduces some nice new tricks, and has an engaging story. the way it ties up loose ends is very well handled, what is not well handled, is the gameplay. In order to avoid spoilers in case you intend to get the game, I will be as vague as possible regarding details of the plot. that being said; you have been warned. As the player, we now get to control a ring of power. this adds an interesting mechanic of slowing time to a near stop, as well as giving us unlimited executions and arrows. oh, and captains and war cheifs no longer have their special traits, which makes killing them just a chore of mashing the execute button. then (MAJOR SPOLER) there is the final boss, in this fight, you can only damage him while using your ring. but, rather than just letting us use it for the fight, we still have to charge it up by branding orcs. all while being chased by an aoe spamming, unpariable monstrosity, and at one point, ALL FIVE WARCHEIFS. so you need to run around and brand orcs while dodging spam from everything. this always feels a bit cheap. If your in for lore, and dont mind some questionable design choices, then go ahead and purchase. but if you value the quality of the gameplay over pretty visuals and story, your better off spending your money else where.

This DLC serves as a prequel to the base game's story. We control Celebrimbor who tries to take control of Mordor with the power of the One Ring and wishes to get rid of not only the orc warchiefs but Sauron himself, too. New missions are available to complete Celebrimbor's story but we can also find new collectibles and side missions, all available in the first map of the original game. Pros: +++ Finally, a new hero to control! At first, Celebrimbor appears to be weaker (cannot take as many hits as Talion) and he does not have a focus while using his bow. His arrows, however, deal greater damage and by branding orcs he can have the One Ring available as an ultimate destructive force. While using the ring we are invincible and can keep executing orcs left and right. +++ Exploration done right: instead of climbing towers we collect Uruks. Celebrimbor is good at branding multiple enemies and by doing so we can lure out a chief from his hiding spot. Becoming victorious in such a battle reveals us further sections of the map. +++ With all its darkness, dim sunrays and ashes the game looks terrifyingly good. It reminds us of the endgame of the Return of The King (at Mount Doom). The battle at the end is also more satisfying compared to the base game - overall this DLC is more challenging. Cons: --- Short. With all collectibles found and missions completed we are done in 5 hours. Since the map was already available for the creators they just needed to include the missions so they could have easily given us some more! They could have also included some more cutscenes. --- Expensive. 10 EUR is way too much for such a content. Your best bet is to purchase the GOTY edition as it includes already this game along with the rest of the extra content. --- Repetitive. Branding multiple orcs is heaps of fun (at one point you can easily have 25-30 orcs following you), especially if they kill the captain or warchief you marked as a target but this can get boring after a while. You basically apply the same method to lure and then eliminate all warchiefs of Mordor. --- Overkill. Celebrimbor is just too strong. Once you are done with all side missions the One Ring can last for pretty long. Branding orcs can also make this power available pretty soon. While our Elven hero is weaker and slow-mo is not a possibility having an orc army behind us can make this DLC very easy. It seems that removing the focus ability and making Celebrimbor weak was done after the creators realised the same.

A sloppy retread of the main game with a satisfying final boss fight as its only bright spot. If you were paying attention during the main game's story then you'll already know all the major plot points that occur in this DLC. You play as Celebrimbor
after he steals the One Ring and rises up to oppose Sauron
. He plays like Talion, but generally weaker and without his weapon runes. The primary difference is in his greater ability to force orcs to fight for him. This overall decrease in power makes this DLC harder than the main campaign in a positive way, yet it's also slightly frustrating to feel less potent. Everything in The Bright Lord takes place in the familiar grounds of Udûn. Too familiar, as it turns out. Not only do we not get any new areas to explore, but you'll also overhear orcs saying the same lines as you heard in Shadow of Mordor. Considering when The Bright Lord takes place, some of these remarks make no sense, since what they're talking about would not have happened yet. Celebrimbor also turns into his own wraith, the same way Talion does, which is odd since he hasn't died yet. These discrepancies add up to a product that feels sloppy and too content in resting on the strength of its gameplay. About the only reason to play this DLC is for its final boss fight. Simply put, it's the final boss fight we should have gotten in Shadow of Mordor. However, I wouldn't say that it's worth $10. If you bought the Game of the Year Edition and aren't bored of the combat after finishing the main game, then give this a try and you'll probably enjoy yourself.

Honestly this is the only DLC that I'd consider DLC and is worth the price. Super fun to play as Celebrimbor and fight Sauron 1v1. But at the end of the day this (and all the other "DLC") could've just come with the base game.

Like the previous DLC, The Bright Lord feels at odds with itself. Off the bat, Celebrimbor lacks the health, quiver, and abilities of Talion. To make up for this, we are given a few more fun abilities, such as being able to summon branded Uruks at the push of a button, a branding option for shadow shot, and the One Ring, which focuses all of Talion's ultimate abilities into one. If you look at Celebrimbor's kit, you may think that he is more designed for stealth, being so fragile. The game devs disagreed, and many of the missions involve you heading into a stronghold that is already alerted, or defending two points that are under attack. I get what they were trying to do, they want you to brand and summon an army to fight your battles for you. The problem is that in these scenarios, the only real way to brand anything is to charge your hit streak, and every single Uruk wears the same armor. This means, that in a massive clumb, you cannot tell what is a berserker or not, leading you keep accidently breaking your own streak because you cannot quickly differentiate between Uruks. *SPOILERS BELOW* This all culminates in the final mission against Sauron, where you have to fight 5 Warchiefs at once. Because of the elf's low health pool, one attack from any of the warchiefs nearly kills him. You end up killing Uruks to heal then summoning more, then killing them all a few moments later. It is extremely infuriating, and it almost made me stop playing. *END SPOILERS* There is nothing about this DLC that is fun. While I wish some of the powers, such as Shadow-Branding, was in the main game, the limitations this DLC imposes on you the inclusion of those powers feel hollow at best. Both DLC's for Shadow of Mordor are bad, and are not interesting story-wise to be worth playing. If you enjoyed the main game, I would just leave it at that.
