  It's short, really really short - but it's only part 1 and I have mad respect for the guy that made this all by himself. Some of the encounters are a bit unfair, you WILL die the first time you encounter some situations unless you know exactly which button to hit in advance. Then again, it's not really a secret this game is mostly a "death scene simulator" so you probably won't mind dying too much...

  You really don't know what you're in for when you start out in HOV. The brutality goes from 1 to 10 in an instant. Amazing animation job for everything.

  This game has a lot going for it for a very reasonable price, and I'd recommend it highly if not for one of the worst game mechanics I've ever seen in a game. The graphics are good, the story is also interesting. The mechanic that drags it down is the heart suppression, I respect the attempt to do something different unfortunately it doesn't stick the landing. Most of the enemy encounters I've had revolve around this annoying system. You just sit in one place holding down three buttons and tapping a fourth to keep a bar at the center of a meter. If you miss time a press its usually an instant death, then back to the last save point. So every enemy encounter loses all tension and instead is relegated to a frustrating drug out series of deaths and reloads. It is worth a play through, and is definitely worth the price but its not for everyone. The death scenes are well crafted and disturbing. I read a lot of Clive Barker and this game definitely captures the feel of one of his stories. I also like how it feels like a union of D and Clock Tower, two really good horror games of a bygone era.

  Overall it's a good horror game, I especially enjoyed the mood given by the retro graphics, there are however some cons, it's extremely short and there are usability issues: no autosaves, you watch the same death scenes over and over and only after some time I realized I could skip the scene with select+start (??) the B button is used for both Back action and Delete Save action (bad UI usability!) and you need to press a combination of 3+1 buttons to hide from the monster (why just not make 1+1 button?)

  I've been following this developer's progress for awhile because the concept always seemed really interesting. I enjoyed the game overall but it's definitely not for everyone. Pros: -Excellent atmosphere and retro style -Good voice acting, music, and effects; though I think they could use some polish processing wise -Love the death scenes Cons: -Super short and you'll spend most of your time in one room trying to master the heartbeat system -Light on exploration Closing thoughts: I think the heartbeat system is a good idea but it sort of straddles the line between tension inducing and tedious. Maybe if it used less buttons or had a slightly wider window of success, that would improve it. The developer stated this was also the reason you need a controller and there is no mouse/keyboard support. I can understand that now that I've played through the game. I'm really looking forward to the next installment which will hopefully be longer and have a little more exploration. Recommended if you enjoy challinging horror games.

  I enjoyed it. I was a little put off at first by the 2-dimensional movement, but I got over that quickly because of the interesting atmosphere and the quality of the cutscenes and the door/stairway animations. And it was fun to see all the different ways to die. It should also be noted that you can skip the death cutscenes by pressing the 'back' button (xbox controller), so you don't need to watch the same deaths over and over until you're done screwing up. The game is quite short though. I'm looking forward to part 2.

  I played parts one and two together and overall I have to say this was a great but short game. But shortness isn't really a problem because the price is pretty cheap even with both parts. It's a very gory game and emulates the older horror games very well like silent hill or resident evil. Except no combat, it's all hiding from enemies. And the biggest plus about this game would have to be the highly detailed animations for everything. I admit I found myself trying to die by the enemies in every way I could find because the animations were so horrific and amazing that I just had to see what else could happen. It's a good game for a weekend that I think most people who are fans of these types of horror games could enjoy. But be warned the gore is VERY gory.
