  The graphics are a delight to look at ( especially considered the first game was made in 2005 ! ) , great gameplay, interesting and fun character creation and skill system. I am really falling in love with this game! I also play D&D online, and I love that game too. The big differense between these two is definately to GW`s advantage: GW has a way better story(ies), it is much easier to play single ( which I prefer, and many with me), - And : You buy the game once, and then it is fully paid ! With D&D online and most other MMORPGs , you have to pay a fee continually . Think I`m gonna play this for years! :))) ......................................................................................... Added to my review : I had some trouble when I needed to contact GW support, - which seemed impossible for a while, and I stopped playing . This might be one reason a lot of people left GW1, even if they loved it . It does not say so anywhere - but to contact support, you have to contact the GW2 support ! It`s really strange that the devs never added an easy way to do that , - there is no way to find out in game options ! Even worse ; I was able to purchase in-game items, like armour appearance, - but these items never showed up in my inventory ! How come , when the support and devs left this game - what they obviously did ! Why could`t they simply add a click to reach them , - and Really !!! Remove the option to purchase stuff that`s not available any more !!!??! For those of you who might need it : GW 2 support : support@guildwars2.com This should maybe be a reason for me giving GW1 my thumb down - but I still choose not to, because it is so much fun to play !

  One of the best MMO's on the market, I love the engaging story the most which is followed by good combat solo or a group of great players that fills the world of guild wars. A must play for any mmo fan.

  Guild Wars: Trilogy, Written by : ISayonI ------------------------- Gameplay: 9/10 Puzzles: 3/10 Action:9/10 Atmosphere: 10/10 ------------------------- Classic RPG, but so EPIC story lines! Specialy when you have all the expansion's! The level system works very easy and is fast! You will start as a level 1. (Charactar) And you have to fight your way trought epic battles. Because of the team size and small budget, this had led to a lot of design decisions that they did for Guild Wars that I really like. I found Prophecies to be the most unforgiving and longest part of the game, but it is still good. I particularly love Factions for its environment, atmosphere, and immersion; however, this campaign has some bad or silly voice acting. It is also the first expansion to allow you to replace Henchmen with Heroes, who are more customizable Henchmen. This is one of the many features that makes the game good and I will explain later on. As for Eye of the North and Guild Wars Beyond content, these are meant to challenge veteran Guild Wars 1 players. You will be visiting previous environments. I consider Eye of the North to be the most polished out of the content released and Winds of Change questline from Guild Wars Beyond to be imbalanced. The first thing you will notice when you launch Guild Wars is the opportunity to choose between creating a RPG character or a PvP character. This is a huge plus for me from a design standpoint; unfortunately, I did not get to play Guild Wars in its prime. Allowing the player to be able to just jump straight into PvP without having to go through long lists of PvE content is incredibly awesome; however, the PvP scene in this game is a tad dead. There are major game design decisions that make this game truly unique. This game revolves around skill acquisition, and how you get them can be rewarding. The game will have you farming and saving to be able to buy skills; moreover, the attributes that affect these skills can be respecced leading to players experimenting unique and silly builds. Players can save their builds into skill templates which can easily be shared to others. Even more so, you can also capture skills if you have the money to buy the skill that allows that. This is particularly important because they are skills called Elite skills that are exclusive to bosses. You have to be using the same profession as the boss in order to capture the (elite) skill they have. Not only do you have a primary profession, but you can also choose to have a secondary one. On top of this, you have Heroes. Henchmen are AI companions with presets of skills that can accompany you. Heroes are Henchmen that can be customized via attribute distribution and skills. This further builds off of skills aquisition. Not only are you experimenting with your character's build, but you will be playing around with your AI companions' as well. This leads to very fun experimentation and there are a lot of veteran players who will help you figure out the most optimal build. Furthermore, this game has some rewarding progression for players. This starts with farming and salvaging. Instead of saving currency to buy a particular armor, you could save or salvage certain items that can be traded with Collector NPCs. They would trade armor and weapons with the player if they give them the required materials, not currency. Later on, you will have to accumulate faction points which leads to titles, which are ranks in Guild Wars. Meeting certain ranks in a faction will lead to further skill acquisition, extra stuff, or unlock armor and weapons. You still meet two different sides of the community. There are veterans who are bitter about ArenaNet not continuing Guild Wars's game design in the sequel and the other are just playing the game and helping newer players. These are just some quick thoughts. I'll see if I can expand on this review in the future when I'm not lazy.

  Having experienced 2000+ hours of gameplay, I can say that Guild Wars offers the best team-based combat in the Online RPG market with the absence of a monthly fee. Although not a true MMO due to the use of instancing in explorable areas, this game excels in cooperative play with either strangers, guildmates, or friends. Guild Wars also contains several unlockable rewards for its sequel, Guild Wars 2.

  This is easily one of the best MMORPGs ever made, and even though the game is ancient, I still think the graphics hold up today. I highly recommend this game especially if you have a super slow potato PC toaster, because even on that it will run super smooth, as it is easily one of the best optimization games I have ever played. Finally, even if the game is """dead""", you can still play the game as a "solo MMOPRG online single player" game and it is still a lot of fun and you can have NPC party members that are actually decent enough. *edit: Note the hours played aren't accurate since changes in getting expansions later and changes in Steam's setup for how Guild Wars was able to reviewed, but I spent over 400 hours in the game.
