  Just finished the game (first of what I see being a few play throughs) There are some questionable reviews on this game that do sound fake. I'll tell you right now, I never heard of this studio till I bought the game and certainly never played the "patreon" version (whatever that was) So let's get into it. Pros: A really good story. One that even surprised me, and I have written stories for nearly 15yrs. The characters are deep(ish) and nuanced. Replayability. Not always there in this NSFW type games. The girls bodies are detailed. Cons: The animation was basic. Nothing I'd pat someone on the back for. The writing slipped a little, with typos here, and the wrong name displayed over text there. The sex was pretty repetitive, with the same "dirty talk" the fake reviews touted being what I imagine lonely men THINK is dirty talk. Crude, mood killing in a realistic scenario, and lacking any kind of real stimulation to anyone but the most base individuals. The STORY aspect was much better. Even though, I would point to a certain scene with a cop telling you info on an individual. He tells you this person's whole life story, after saying "We know very little." A novice mistake. You see it a lot in first time novels. The writer wants to get the reader information so they understand the context behind what has either happened or will happen. Instead of finding a more organic way, they unleash a flood of "back story" that smacks readers in the face with how out of place it is. A final, minor complaint...the women's eyes were way too big. When they'd smile, or laugh, they looked creepy. Is the game worth buying? Despite the flaws I mentioned, the story carries the game. Making it well worth the 9-10 dollars they are asking. You'll have your nudity, your S-Scenes, but you will also get wrapped up in the story. I think with more practice, the person who wrote this game could produce something spectacular. If they read this, whoever you are, feel free to contact me. I know what I am talking about, and can give you some insight. Because let me tell you, the goal when writing "dirty", when writing sex, is to make the person reading it feel as if they are about to....well, you can guess ...in their very chair. It was something I did non-stop for years, earned a reputation for it. I see potential in your writing. You have the mind for it, just needs polishing.

Beautiful graphics quality, very interesting story, phenomenal amount and variety of sexual-content. 45 unique scenes in the gallery. Multiple girls, of all kinds. The game itself is a normal Ren'Py visual novel, fairly long, lots of choices, lots of content. I'm not going to say anything about the story, as to not spoil it. If you are here for the sexual-content definitely get this game. One of the best VN's out there.   If you are familiar with Dr PinkCake and his two VNs (Acting Lessons and Being a DIK) then you should feel right at home with Depraved Awakening. How so? [strike] The writer of DA has shamelessly ripped off the UI from PinkCake games, so every single time you play this game you will be reminded of how DA is only just a game trying to live up to the expectations of a master. [/strike] Upon speaking with the writer of DA, he made it clear to me that him and Dr PinkCake worked side-by-side at one point. It was the writer for this game that helped PinkCake make Acting Lessons, and DA was out on Patreon before steam, so it came first. For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, Dr PinkCake is a writer who made those two VNs I noted above. Both have overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam and they very much deserve that rating. They are truly masterpieces, and calling them adult VNs is really harsh because, in reality, the adult portion of them is really not the whole point. They have beautifully crafted stories and characters that I've never felt so attached to before in any novel, show, or movie. With all that being said, Depraved Awakening is this one writer's (let's call him Phil judging by his name listed on here) attempt at making a PinkCake VN. Does he do a good job of this? Kinda. It is [b] very [/b] obvious that this is Phil's first VN. The writing is amateurish, the narrative itself is good, but the actual dialogue and core components need serious tweaking. I wrote an in-depth spoiler review in the discussions of this game where I elaborate more on these subjects, but without giving spoilers, I'll just mention what is wrong with the story in this game: -No well written protagonist and antagonist. They are defined, you can identify them, but there is only one very basic and elementary reason as to why they are against each other. You are obviously the protagonist, and the antagonist is your antagonist because the plot requires him to be. In reality, you and the antagonist should get along, but because we wouldn't have a story if you two did, you don't get along. This goes hand-in-hand with the overall theme of BDSM in Depraved Awakening, as it is the fundamental style of 99% of the adult scenes in this VN. Without telling you too much, both the protagonist and antagonist are into submission/domination type stuff, so the motivations and justifications for their actions are muddied and don't make sense. -There are [b] a lot [/b] of adult scenes in this game, which is good if you are only looking to get off and not care about the story, but if you do actually want to get invested into the story, the sex pretty much gets in the way of that. The problem isn't necessarily the [b] quantity [/b] of sex scenes, it's the [b] purpose [/b] of the sex scenes. In PinkCake VNs, sex between two characters happened for a distinct narrative purpose, and it developed the character as well as progressing the story. Most, if not all sex scenes in Depraved Awakening are purely there to get the player aroused, there's rarely any good narrative function sex serves within the story. Again, this isn't objectively bad, maybe you do want to play this for the adult content, go right ahead, but as someone who is very passionate about writing, this is problematic for me. -The pacing in the game is too fast. My first game lasted 4 hours, compared to 6-7 hours for Acting Lessons and 8-9 hours of Being a DIK. Note that Depraved Awakening has FAR MORE sex scenes then the latter two, and they're pretty lengthy too, but we still end up with a shorter game. Even thought the mystery itself is pretty good, the story happens far too quickly, and there's almost no downtime at all. At all times, you are consistently moving through the main story without stopping. This leaves no room for character development outside of small chitchats, which is a shame because there was a lot of potential for me to grow attached to some characters, but I couldn't because I barely spent any time with them. Even in the dialogue leading up to sex scenes, every character involved just forgets about the outside world and focuses on the sex as if nothing else is happening. This ties to the previous point that the sex is pointless on a narrative scale, all it does is fulfill the idea that this is an adult VN. -Finally, just a quick note on show don't tell, a rule where you don't want to simply tell the audience about stuff, you want to show them stuff. Not necessarily in a hard visual way, but in a way that isn't a character delivering exposition for no reason. This applies mostly in cinema where you can see things (duh), and because we are talking about a VISUAL novel, show don't tell applies. Phil has a problem with this, and often times we are left with characters just blurting out exposition as we stare at their blank expression and dialogue box. There is one really good example of Phil embracing show don't tell in a hard visual way, but it is unfortunately only that one example, and nothing else. I can't explain it because that would mean spoilers. Either way, what we are left with is very little intuitive writing where characters blissfully deliver exposition because the plot requires it. In conclusion, this is a pretty good VN. If you're new to the genre, chances are you'll like it as long as you're comfortable with this BDSM style (Phil keeps it subtle at [i] most [/i] times). If you've played a PinkCake VN, don't get your hopes up. The ending is nothing like Acting Lessons, and the characters aren't as likable as Being a DIK, but it is a good stopgap between now and whenever Being a DIK Season 2 comes out.

  More than Just a Porn game! I would say the renders were pleasing and very detailed, I didn't know of this game before but am sure as hell a Fan of it now The story was Amazingly written THe character models were very detailed and appealing and Developed at a very steady pace which I thought was awesome

  Pretty much the third best AVN on Steam after Being a DIK and Acting lessons, and followed closely by City of Broken Dreamers. I'd say these 4 really should be the Starter Pack for adult games on Steam. DrPinkCake does a better story, but PhillyGames does better adult scenes.

  It took me 6-7 hours to play the story & read everything. 3 hrs more to get 100% achievements & 3-4 hrs to unlock all 44 scenes. This VN is really worth the asking price.

  Super sexy with a great story. Like its pretty much porn except the story line is actually captivating and creative. At first I was bummed that there are no voices. But.... then I figured out its great fun to have my wife role play the female roles while I role play the male roles. It becomes sorta like an interactive movie. ... and with the sexy stuff in this game.... trust me ... your going to love hearing your lady read these lines out loud......and I bet her saying them out loud gets her all worked up...... works for me at least. ;)

  The content that has been produced and released for STEAM it's pretty good although short. The game takes a little over 2 hours to complete. I played through different scenarios which currently put me at 7.3 hours and found all of the fairly decent. The reason for me not recommending this came is simple. THE developer, PhillyGames, does not support updates for this game on the STEAM platform. PhillyGames has developed and released chapter 13 on Patreon but look at the release date here on STEAM....AUGUST 30, 1019. Do you see any comments or posts for future updates anywhere on this site? .... No, you don't and you wont. IF you ONLY want to see and experience 1 chapter then go ahead and buy it. IF, you have any interest in the story or more content of any kind you wont find it on STEAM. The future of the game on STEAM is written in stone by the developers lack of interaction with the STEAM platform for the last 4 years. Because of the multiple releases on Patreon and no updates at all here on STEAM I won't trust this developer with any work in progress or chapter type of games. PhillyGames, unfortunately can't be trusted to release the rest of the games they develope on the same platform.

  Well, that certainly was an experience and I have to say it was a good one too. The Private Detective angle works fairly good for this came even tough it is a bit routine in terms of narrative. The story itself felt appropriately dark and there was no lack of moments that soured the mood. In short, the game is not really something you should try if you are looking for a more positive experience. The ending I got on my first ending was far from happy but it felt somewhat realistic at the very least. The Gameplay is exactly as you might expect but it feels like it is holding your hand a bit much. As long as you investigate everything, you find all the evidence. The dialogue also feels a bit off at times but nothing that really bothers me. If I have a problem with the game it is that you are sometimes unable to turn down lewd scenes. In a scenario where the consent of the people involved will have to be regarded as "dubious" in some cases, I feel like the option to turning people down is important. In short, the game held up admirably for a first play through and I must admit I look forward to another one where I can see if I can get another ending.
