  I was waiting for this game for a few month now and i must say i'm very happy with the result ! I played the demo a while back and i'm so happy to be able to see more of it ! The level design and scenery of the game are very well thought out, an example to follow ( at least up to where i am in the game (3h in)) It is very accessible and the concept of it is captivating. Learning a language by deduction ! AND the more observant of us will be rewarded by the game which is always great IMO. Long story short Chants of Sennaar... 1: is so beautiful and enchanting music and scenery 2: has impeccable level design 3: Is a very good for beginners and experts as well 4: explores a rarely seen elsewhere concept with language at its core. I reccomend it WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Please test it out, it's rare gem in puzzle/exploration games.

  An absolute must-play. It's the simple but sinister, stylised world of Monument Valley with the hieroglyph-translating focus of Heaven's Vault. It's point & click puzzle classic Loom by way of the incredible comic book worlds of Jodorowsky & Moebius. I can't recommend it highly enough.

  Quick first impressions as someone with a love for the translate-'em-up genre (Is that a genre? It's got like two entries, this and Heaven's Vault), is that this is a goodun. Lovely art style (see screenshots/videos, I suppose), fun linguistic deciphering, and a bit of puzzling. Update after finishing the game. At ~8-ish hours it's ever so slightly on the short side, but I'd still say it's worth full price. You might disagree, that's what discounts are for. It's a lovely game that can survive on its own merits and is substantially different from the other translate-'em-up on the market. But let's compare them for a moment anyway, because there's not much else to compare it to. Heaven's Vault is more of a narrative deciphering experience, whereas Chants of Sennaar has a more puzzle-y feel. The language/script in Heaven's Vault stays the same throughout the entire game, whereas Chants of Sennaar switches out the glyphs you're deciphering with a new set every ~2 hours or so. This keeps things fresh, but it also means you don't get as familiar with the intricacies of the language you're deciphering, which I personally think is a bit of a shame. Still, I enjoyed my time with Chants and if you were to put a gun to my head and force me to assign an arbitrary number, I'd give it a solid 8/10. Happily missed the first hours of the general Starfield release to finish this game instead.

  It's a fantastic puzzle game that unfortunately has some really awful stealth segments attached to it. They're not bad enough that I wouldn't recommend the game to anyone that likes puzzles, especially people hoping to scratch that deductive puzzle itch that games like Obra Dinn and Golden Idol manage to do.

  plz add the function of copying the save files. I really enjoy the scenery in this game. So, before I come to the end, I want to copy another file which can walk freely in the game.

  Sewer labyrinth is really confusing for no reason, maybe i'm just dysfunctional, 10/10 game.

  I bought this game because it was represented by a few, notable game critics as an Obra Dinn-like. That was a wild misrepresentation; I quit after 5-hours. The gameplay is extremely shallow & repetitive to the point where the developers felt the need to freshen things up by adding mid-2000's stealth sections (luring guards away by throwing rocks at bells, waiting for guards to complete a long marching sequences; riveting stuff!). - Biggest gripe: Puzzle solutions are hard-coded to exploration. In other words, puzzles can be reasoned-out so you can choose the correct sequence but the game will still reject it because you need to have back-tracked to an old part of the level in order to find a room with a clue for a solution you already arrived at. This is unambiguously bad game design, especially when the clue rooms/areas in question can be easily missed (e.g., the observatory). - Confirmation prompts for certain words are gated behind tedious checks (i.e., you can see a word / glyph but won't be prompted to confirm its meaning until you inspect a specific wall/art/etc.). This led to a ton of backtracking in the Warrior section. - Level design is convoluted and disjointed, which compounds the time-waste of backtracking for missed items/areas. - Story / narrative hook is essentially non-existent. Environmental storytelling (usually how the bits & pieces of language are given context) is genuinely comedic, like the developers had no confidence in the player's ability to make basic inferences. - The player movement is slow & awkward due to the point & click nature coupled with a sluggish camera. - UI features a large Journal button at the top of the screen. Because of the movement/camera system, there were many times where navigating up/forward resulted in unwanted opening of the Journal menu. This is just a basic, bad UI design issue. Overall, I wanted to love it, but the game fundamentally doesn't respect the player's time or intelligence. Could not imagine slogging through 4+ more hours of this shallow gameplay loop. Do NOT recommend.

  I'm not usually a puzzle game fan, but this one hits a really good difficulty curve for the most part (a few puzzles near the end felt more like guesswork than logic, but only a few). The art style and music meshes really well with the adventure it sends you on, and I ended up playing all ~10 hours in one sitting.

  Do you like translating languages? Do you like stylized point-and-click adventure? Do you like good music and good art in your video game? Then I recommend Chants of Sennaar! Very fun, challenging point-and-click adventure game where you have to figure out for yourself what people are literally saying, what they mean, and where you need to get to. Incredibly rewarding to solve yourself. The bad: While not strictly linear, the game has points where you need to complete X or you're stuck (there were times I consulted the internet for help). CoS could use a map feature, especially when certain environments room-to-room get very confusing. If you skip a puzzle or a point of interaction, chances are you need to complete that area, so do it now or do it later. The game does reward mastery of its puzzle systems, and does have a great learning curve that I felt challenged the player appropriately. I wish it was longer, and I wish certain puzzles took less time. I also wish there was more language, and there are certain words that I hated translating. A mixed bag of mostly good; go get your journal, your quill, and get translating!

  banger, only thing wrong with this game is that it's not twice as long (and the stealth sections)
