  [b]Overall Rating: 5/5[/b] [b]Gameplay: 5/5 [/b] Gameplay of The Closing Shift can be summarised as: walk to your place of work, make lattes, serve pastries and interact with customers... all while being stalked. Making the drinks is surprisingly entertaining although that's not what makes The Closing Shift so great. The ordinariness of the situation - a girl working the closing shift at a coffee shop - grounds the story in reality and makes for a truly eerie experience. The game plays on very real fears (the dark, stalkers, and being alone to name a few) to create an uneasy atmosphere, building up the horror rather than simply relying on cheap jumpscares. [b]Graphics and Atmosphere: 4/5[/b] The graphics are excellent and the game has a striking 90s/VHS aesthetic which complements the tone of the game well. The Closing Shift's atmosphere is dark and moody although doesn't shy away from moments of comedy, which I found to be a welcome inclusion in the narrative. The character models and, particularly the walking, animations are janky but I find it adds to the unsettling vibe of the game rather than detracts from it. There's something uncanny about that way the customers look at you, which reflects well the unease of having people's gaze on you knowing they could be your stalker. [b]Performance: 4/5[/b] The game runs smoothly and I only encountered one bug whereby a piece of the environment didn't appear properly (although this was fixed with a quick restart). [b]Recommendation: Definitely worth full price![/b]

  I really did enjoy this game! I felt creeped out, loved the environment created at the cute little coffee shop! The only thing I would have wanted is maybe an endless mode where we can just make coffee and pastry orders until we want to stop since that aspect was really fun to me.

  I unironically liked the barista aspect of the game. I wish there was a never-ending barista mode.
