The Working Group on Gynecological and Obstetric Endoscopy (AGE) is the scientific working group of the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics with the largest number of members. With more than 1,800 members, it represents the entire field of gynecological and obstetric endoscopy.

Goals, tasks and structure

According to the statutes, the AGE aims to promote the application and development of methods of gynecological and obstetric endoscopy. In this sense, she deals with clinical, scientific and professional policy concerns of endoscopic, minimally invasive surgery in gynecology and obstetrics.

The goals are implemented by:

• Professional support for members

• Stimulating and supporting research and development work

• Coordination of clinical and scientific projects

• Dissemination of research and development results

• Definition of operational standards

• Establishing guidelines and legitimizing AGE training centers

• Incorporation of operational technology methods and training standards in the future training regulations of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics

• Cooperation with all companies with similar objectives, also abroad

• Development of guidelines and concepts for the purpose of quality assurance.

Membership is open to all doctors who deal scientifically or clinically with gynecological and obstetric endoscopy. Membership in the parent company DGGG is required for colleagues practicing in Germany.

Members receive the possibility of a quality-assured individual professional certification (MIC I-III), are regularly informed about innovations in our subject and in particular gynecological endoscopy. This is done via the website and electronic newsletters, AGE congresses and conferences of the Forum Operative Gynecology (FOG), which can be visited at reduced participation fees. AGE members are also members of the ESGE European Society for Gynecological Endoscopy. As an official body, you receive the magazine "Facts, Views and Visions in ObGyn" via online access; European science exchange is promoted.

For quality-assured training in gynecological endoscopy, AGE has a concept that provides for personal certification (MIC I, II and III) and an institutional certification (training center). It offers both young and experienced gynecological surgeons the opportunity to develop, perfect and document endoscopic expertise.

The promotion of young clinical and scientific staff is becoming increasingly important for scientific project funding. The AGE app is intended to bring younger colleagues in particular to this exciting operative field in gynecology.

Aspects of quality assurance are increasingly coming to the further development of gynecological-endoscopic surgical procedures, for example with the question of the development of operative-therapeutic standards. In addition to continuing the development of guidelines, we will increasingly be concerned with the quality of results of operational procedures. A particular concern is the further development of endoscopic training.
