The application "Steps through the world of sounds!" Is a material developed by the conf. Univ. dr. Carolina Bodea Haţegan and lect. Associate Professor Dorina Talaş, Department of Special Psychopedagogy, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Babeş-Bolyai University, with the support of Cochlear and ASTTLR.

This is a useful material for both language therapy specialists and parents concerned about ways in which they can contribute to the development of their children's pronunciation skills.

The imaging and linguistic material included in this application is structured and organized according to speech-language criteria. Thus, each sound in the Romanian language inventory is located at the level of words, in the three basic positions: initial position, middle position and final position. Exception to this rule is made by the distribution of the sound "ă" only at the level of two words where the sound is in the middle and final position, as well as of the sound "Î" which is located only in the initial and middle position.

Thus, the application brings together a collection of 79 words and images that allow the assessment of the child's articulatory abilities, as well as the notation of the correct pronunciation, omission, distortion or substitution / replacement of the target sound. The therapist or parent runs the application with the child and records the child's answers (right or wrong). The application also offers the possibility to listen to the sound recording of the word represented in the image. The results are condensed into a table that shows in percentages, depending on the different categories of sound classifications in Romanian, the child's performance. These results can be sent to an e-mail address which makes it possible to reassess and compare the results obtained at different time intervals.
