You can build thrusters on planets and launch them at other planets. The game has other mechanics, but that's the important one.

    - Created a sea of tanks, was killed from the air. - Created a planet-sized swarm of aircraft, was killed from space. - Created an armada of space cruisers, was killed by interplanetary artillery. - Created a world destroying gun, was killed by tanks again. I love this game and will continue my fight against people who balance their armies… have at you!

Take it from someone who played the hell out of the Supreme Commander series and paid $90 to get into the Planetary Annihilation alpha way back in 2013: this game is utter garbage compared to its predecessors, and costs more to boot. <*>The original game - simply "Planetary Annihilation", without "Titans" tacked on, was de-listed from the store from extremely negative ratings, and replaced with this entry in an attempt to erase the legacy of the terrible development process of the original, and they charged original owners - including people like myself who shelled out ninety dollars for alpha access - full price for Titans on top of it until the game was handed over to the community. <*>The AI pathfinding is garbage and gets stuck constantly. <*>The singleplayer 'campaign' is nonexistent and is basically just a series of skirmish matches. <*>Performance is godawful - with a Ryzen 5 3600 and RTX 2080 Super, I'm lucky to get 20 FPS half an hour into a match with more than two players, and that's if the server isn't hosted on my machine. <*>AI opponents are braindead even on higher difficulties, and have a tendency to just spam units into one spot without actually doing anything with them (as they amass them where they can't even path to an enemy to begin with), lagging out the match over time. <*>There's only one faction, so everyone is restricted to the exact same unit selection. No unique faction-specific tactics based on your preferences, it's the META or nothing. <*>As there are no faction differences, the only real tactic is obtain resources and spam out units faster than your enemy can. No unique per-faction tactics, just a trial of who can give units orders faster. <*>Since the game spans over more than one celestial body often, multitasking efficiently is valued higher than actual strategy; there are very few scenarios where out-witting your opponent will compensate for failing to out-produce them. <*>Unit variety itself is limited - you generally get one unit per role per type, without any major variety or niche units. <*>Aside from the presence of water, there's no functional difference between most planet types. <*>Combat is underwhelming; most units - even several 'titans' - die easily, and explosions end as quickly as they start. <*>Instead of gaining resources from the wrecks of enemies, it costs resources to clear the wrecks. On top of this, while wrecks not owned by you will block your projectiles, some projectiles of your own won't be blocked by your own wrecks. <*>Resource consumption data for unit or building production is lacking - you essentially have to guess based on how advanced something is how quickly it will drain your economy, or memorize a whole bunch of shit from the wiki. <*>Not only did the current development team add a new achievement to an already feature-complete game, they also removed the feature that lets you get the achievement in the first place, making this new achievement completely unobtainable. Not only that, but they also made this the only protected achievement in the game, which means that even something like SAM can't unlock it, despite it being the only one that can't be obtained by any other means. And above all else, this game falls ridiculously short of what was promised in the kickstarter campaign. Put simply, Planetary Annihilation is a very simple RTS that feels like it was built primarily for competitive multiplayer and not for depth or replayability, and it performs horribly, which is impressive because it looks worse than its spiritual predecessor, Supreme Commander, where the most graphically vivid entry in the series released in 2007, and even the console-friendly (that is, literally got simplified for console support) Supreme Commander 2 had more depth and variety than this. Also, to top it all off, the former Uber Entertainment - which rebranded to Star Theory Games after the absolute trainwreck that Planetary Annihilation was - also has a bunch of its devs working on Kerbal Space Program 2, which is following a very similar pattern of over-promising and under-delivering. Make of that what you will. If you want an RTS that isn't going to bore you in ten hours or less, go look up Supreme Commander. You might not get orbital mechanics or 'death stars' (which are way too expensive for practical use to begin with), but what you do get is a much more detailed, refined, replayable and less horribly performing experience than what's offered here. edit: i reached out to their support team on the official site about the broken achievement and i'm not even getting a response lol

TITANS is, essentially, just DLC for the original Planetary Annihilation, posing as a standalone expansion. For a more accurate view of PA's reception please refer to its store page: store.steampowered.com/app/233250 TITANS introduces new planets, some minor updates and a whole load of new units. However, the game is still plagued with poor enemy AI and poor pathfinding. My units are unable to work out the shortest route and sometimes simply get stuck. This is an issue that has persisted ever since the alpha, and still has not been completely tackled. While Uber has worked on these issues, they are still there. I've also had some problems with placing buildings near walls, where the building's outline suggests the building fits and can be constructed, but my units refusing to do my bidding. Just like kids. The biggest issue, for me, has always been the camera. Representing maps on a sphere introduces its own set of challenges, and while I don't think Uber, neccessarily, missed the ball here. I would've loved a feature where I could 'flatten' my planet, in order to create a flat 2D representation of it. For new users, TITANS should definitely be the way to go, it represents the product - more or less - that EA and KS backers were expecting but never recieved. Luckily, KS backers can expect to receive TITANS at no additional costs. While EA backers who paid the same price as KS backers are shafted. However, anyone who owns PA before the announcement of TITANS does get a 66% discount. Regardless when you purchased PA. For those that bought themselves into PA through KS and EA - steer clear. For those looking for a new RTS, get TITANS, as it offers the same and more content as PA.

(Anyone who is looking for a break down of Planetary Annihilation's as a game, I recommend this review. http://steamcommunity.com/id/voodoochilli/recommended/233250/ by Voodoochilli. The thoughts expressed below are as much about the game of Titans and Uber's poor handling of its community) Where to begin really. I am a huge fan of Total Annihilation, a massive fan of Supreme Commander 1 and Planetary Annihilation was a dream come true when I heard Uber was making it. However, what we got at the end of the road was not quite what we were expecting. The Original Planetary Annihilation is a solid game, though with some pretty heavy problems that are still unresolved. So what is Planetary Annihilation: Titans? Its the content you should of received at the 1.0 release of the original game. This is a horrid cash grab and to make matters worse the launch is plagued with bugs. Do you want to restart the game after every match you play? Well that is what some of us are dealing with every time you try to go back to the main menu. So not only is this a shameless grab for your credit card, but it is a buggy mess as well. Nothing in Titans is extremely new beyond units and it is only 21 units. The AI is still broken and nothing is much different. This is not worth the money if you already own the original planetary annihilation, which is fun at times. I am sorry Uber that you guys really screwed the pooch and PA did not become the success you hoped it would. But that is not our fault and trying to rob us blind because we want to support you is how you sour your fans. Honestly, I think you guys need to close the doors if this is how your treating us now. Your customers will bite you back if you try to abuse us and there goes any hope of you guys being a developer. Save your money for a better game. Edit: Now some people have been taking the stance of 'they put a lot of hard work in to this content' and so forth. How much hard work? 21 units and some game modes. How is that a lot of hard work? If you owned Planetary Annihilation, you got a 66% Discount on the game which brings it down to 13 dollars or so. 13 dollars for 21 units that feel like they should of been in the main game. I say should of been because all of this feels tacked on and not the good kind. I mean the fact that its all unpolished and rough around the edges. This is why I say its deplorable. This is not a bug free, polished experience your paying for out the gate and really the fact this is all running on the same engine leaves little excuse as to why they broke their own game.

Edit: I have added a link to the Change.org petition at the bottom of the review. DISCLAIMER: I did not create the petition. This should have been a free update to all previous owners, considering how they're just forgetting the original (which I and many others love). I bought Planetary Annihilation a long time ago, knowing that all updates would be free. This game directly goes against that as both games have the same install size, yet anyone who bought TITANS and not the original gets many new features and units that the community has been asking for for literal months and years. This game is just an updated version of the original, so why not just update the original?? Or make it DLC? A standalone at it's current pricing is insane. They are trying to forget the previous version with its "mixed reviews" standing, and just focus on the new release. They are screwing anyone who bought the original over as new players will buy the TITANS version rather than the original. But, for those who did own the original, we get to buy TITANS at a decreased price of $13.60, which will go back up to $40 after the 18th of October. So for buying the original at whatever price you may have, we get the special treatment of getting to abandon the game we purchased, and throw out more money for a game we already owned. TL;DR The developers killed the original audience and game, in favor of starting anew, in part because the previous title had unfavorable reviews. We as consumers can not support this kind of behavior. If this game was free to all previous owners, or simply just an update to the already existing title, then all would be forgiven. There would be no quarrel. I would LOVE to love this game, but I can't, as it exhibits all the signs of a cheap move. PS: Both games have had extremely high levels of bugs and glitches throughout their development and release time. https://www.change.org/p/uber-entertainment-planetary-annihilation-titans-stop-making-us-pay-for-what-we-already-paid-for

This is the original planetary annihilation with more units. Still buggy. Will we have to buy another game later if we actually want it to work?!? It is shameful to charge people for a new game when this still doesn't even live up to the promise of what the original Planetary Annihilation should have been. This would have been ok as DLC, but Uber just want to be rid of their previous negative reviews for how buggy PA is. Unfortunately PA Titans is also still buggy. Shame on you Steam for permitting this. Shame on you Uber for doing this.
