QUICK FACTS
Type: Survival / crafting RPG (RPG Maker) Developer: TechnoBrake Publisher: Kagura Games Price: €8,19 Est. playtime: 30-40 hours Censorship: yes (patch available at publisher’s website)
THE GAME
MECHANICS Leviathan plays like a regular RPG Maker game, but tweaked for survival gameplay. You’ll need to manage your hunger, thirst, sleep and (optional) bladder, otherwise you’ll die. And dying – either from hunger or combat – most of the times means instant game over. To get ahead in the game, there is a gathering/crafting system, as well as some very limited base building. Most of your time in the game will be spent hunting for crafting resources while carefully dodging or fighting monsters. This is actually quite challenging, particularly in the beginning of the game. Once you’ve upgraded your base camp and leveled some skills, it becomes easier to explore the (fairly expansive) map and progress the story, Controls: keyboard only STORY You play as Chocolat, a female elf, who has been sent to the prison island Melviray for some unspecified reason. Melviray is populated by monsters and other convicts, and therefore a pretty dangerous place. Moreover, it is guarded by a humongous sea monster (hence the game’s name), which makes escaping impossible. Unless of course you manage to decipher some ancient mysteries hidden throughout the island, that may offer a solution. Leviathan’s story is mostly lineair and pretty thin; don’t expect too much explanation or background on what’s happening. But it keeps you on the road, and I suppose that’s enough for this kind of game. QUALITY For an indy survival game, Leviathan works surprisingly well. The mechanics aren’t too elaborate, but the game progression is neatly balanced. There is quite a bit of grinding involved, but the game keeps you hooked by offering a broad range of increasingly powerful equipment to unlock. If you’re a completionist, you can easily sink a few dozen hours collecting it all.
THE GOODS
SUBJECT Most of Leviathan’s lewd features Chocolat having sex with various monsters and NPC’s on the island. In addition, there are a few scenes sporting some other NPC’s. There’s not much progression to it; Chocolat enjoys sex right off the bat and may run into sexy encounters mere minutes into the game. Keywords:
bondage, big breasts, group, fluids, forced, humiliation, monster, public, solo, straight, tentacles, urination
CONTENT 32 CG-based scenes. In addition, there is a large amount of costume pieces and accessories to craft and discover. ACCESS You’ll run into a number of lewd scenes as part of the main storyline; others you’ll have to discover yourself at various locations on the map. Moreover, certain monsters (indicated by a heart sign) will trigger a sex scene if you lose combat against them. After seeing a scene once, it remains available in the menu at your base camp. QUALITY Leviathan’s lewd is okay. Not too bad, not particularly good either. The artist sometimes seems to struggle a bit with drawing natural-looking body positions. There aren’t many scenes either. In fact, I enjoyed gathering / crafting the various outfits more than the lewd scenes themselves.
VERRO’S VERDICT
If you – like me – enjoy playing survival games, Leviathan is right up your alley. Don’t expect anything like Ark or Rust; it’s still an indy H-game, after all. But within the confines of that genre, Leviathan offers a nice change-of-pace from the dozens standard-issue RPG’s on the market. Don’t buy this if you’re looking for some quick lewd, though: Leviathan will have you working for your CG’s. But if you don’t mind that, you even may find yourself skipping the lewd so you can get on with the game itself. Recommended! [i]Looking for fairly priced adult games with good gameplay? I really really enjoyed the game! +18 patch required. The main character is really cute and sexy, there´s a lot to do and you can use a lot of costumes. I really liked the H-scenes. The progression system is very interesting. Unlike other RPGs, you don´t get stronger by gaining lvls, but by crafting better armour and weapons. This made the game very difficult at first, but once you understand how things work it actually gets very easy, which was a bit dissapointing (but still great for an H game). Totally recommended! Had a really good time with the game and can´t wait to see more things from the developer.

This is the worst Kagura game that I have played. By bar. I truly regret having this one. It was a complete waste. The idea might seem okay at first; but there are so many problems with the implementation! First; it's an absolute pain to craft. You go to your campsite, you look for the craft option, you look for the window, you look for the recipe within the window, you craft each thing INDIVIDUALLY because of course there's no one who would like to make 10 waters at once when going for some wood drains half your HP and half your bars. After that, now you have to open your inventory that is of course very quirky and uses images instead of text and then you look for the item among all the stuff you have to hoard and THEN you finally drink your water. NO thanks. Not crazy about the survival part of the game, either. Gathering materials and keeping the girl alive feels like a chore when all your progress can be lost so easily since things break extremely quickly BUT they don't respawn so you're simply better off starting all over again. Yup. Starting the grind; all over again. Nope. I'm not starting again. I'm uninstalling and warning people. This is not a good one.

I bought this game today and spent 4 hours playing it. The gameplay is alright, not too bad. I enjoy the survivalist mechanics, which is pretty typical. The only big problem I have with it thus far seems to be that after the first time going into the ruined church, the last 2 times have lead to my character being unable to move. Just... stuck there. Have to end the game. Can't seem to fix it. Besides that issue, though, if you want a simple little top-down 2D survivalist type game which may or may not have nudity and sexual content (I hadn't bumped into any thus far), perhaps this is for you. I got it while it was on sale, and given the consistent issue with the church, I'm inclined to suggest others wait until it's on sale too. I'm done with this game for the day, but I dare say I'll get back to it sometime, perhaps tomorrow! Review posted August 11, 2020 Updated below August 18, 2020 Well then, I tried that church multiple times and it's consistent; totally unable to do anything. I have also found a settlement off to the west, they told me to go get some sort of tree sap. So I left from the southern access of the camp and got the sap then returned but ended up returning from the north access. Unable to move. The game didn't freeze; the NPCs were still moving, but I could not control my character at all and so had to end the game like all the other times that's happened. So I closed it, opened it again before too long because I was interested in seeing what was in the camp, so got the sap and returned to the southern access hoping it would be different, but nope, lost all ability to control the game. I'm changing this review from a 'Yes' to a 'No.' This frequent glitch is unacceptable, I was even thinking, "Hey, maybe there's another way to get holy water and so I don't have to go back to that church anymore, even though there's a chest there and I'm curious as to what's inside it," but nah, if this is going to be a frequent issue then this game wasn't worth the money I paid for it. Don't get this game.

A survival game where you have to constantly keep an eye on your hunger, thirst, and sleep. Being able to move just past the first area is tough since the drop rate of items is so low so your constantly having to kill one or two monsters then sleep and repeat until you have enough to finally have some kind of armor. Your items break stupidly fast in the beginning so most of your time is keeping your hunger and thirst up while going through tools after using them maybe twice. On normal difficulty your barely able to defeat two little rats let alone anything else. If you can handle the grind it does get easier but again getting past that first initial area is a rather pain. On easy mode you at least have a chance to be able to successfully grind to take out monsters to better get materials. The combat system is boring and there is nothing to it. If you got this game to patch it and enjoy the adult version of the game save your time and money. The H scenes are not that creative and there is really nothing to them. Gameplay wise its boring and very tedious and adult version wise I have seen better quality H scenes pixelated than these. Don't waste your money on this game, the rest of Kagura's games are WAY better.

Actually a pretty hard game, you NEED the uncensored patch to progress in the game and it's just a must. Great sex scenes wish just a little bit more, also need more save points i hated losing progress because I couldn't save. I still highly recommend.

I usually like to give Kagura Games the benefit of the doubt, but honestly the crafting system is so bad in this game, I don't know where to begin. This is an H game but there are possibly other and better games than you can spend your money on than this piece of crap. I'll try to give you an in depth review but it's not going to very high, unfortunately. Story - 4/10 Your escorted to an island of misfit to- ahem, a prison island owned by some unknown kingdom for a crime that the character doesn't even talk about. After the boat is attacked by a huge Leviathan ( which really, doesn't make much sense if people are constantly attacked when dropping prisoners off - figure THAT one out), you are met by an alchemist girl who gives you the basic rundown of the game. After she leaves, that's it pretty much. If there is more to it, I never bothered with finding out more. Gameplay - 5/10 This game has an interesting premise initially. You need to figure out a way to survive. You do that by going into your inventory to craft items for yourself to eventually get stronger. But where that might seem fun, your met with constantly having to open the inventory to craft something, ear or drink, repair your sword and armor, and (if you have the H patch), take a wizz break. You also need to clean yourself up everyday, a chore when you have monsters attacking you every five seconds. Speaking of, I don't know why the cleaning area was not put in a place where no monsters attack you, but that's just me. The monsters that you kill do give out things you need to survive, but it would have been nice if the monsters spawned every twelve hours like the resources and not every time you leave the map and return to it. And speaking of the mobs, if your hoping that this is a typical RPG where you level up, well think again. Honestly, it really doesn't feel at all as if there is any sense of progression, especially early on. What really gets me is the constant weapon and armor breaks that happens. If your not careful, you may end up stark naked (if you have the H patch). The tool breaking constantly is what really what made or breaks this game though. I don't know, but when your woodcutting axe breaks the very first time you go to cut lumber from a tree, almost...every...dam...time.. then sorry, but I'm moving on. Music - 3/10 Honestly, it doesn't really have any interesting tracks. Your constantly listening to the same stuff on repeat. I've heard better. H Content - Null I really can't give this game a fair shake when it comes to the bad stuff, because I only really saw like 4 scenes before I gave up on it. But who knows, it may have some good scenes in it. The pissing scene I could do without tho. Overall 4/10 Give this game a hard pass. The frustration presented here is more then enough to override any enjoyment you may get out of it (H scenes included). There are simply better Adult games out there.

I've been playing a lot of these adults only RPGs lately, and I feel like most of them are really lacking challenge. I mean, I get that the lewd stuffs are the main selling point for games like this, but I wish the gameplay part also needs to have decent amount of challenge to keep it interesting. This is one of the few ones in this genre that I found to have just a right amount of challenge to keep me interested in the game while searching for the next naughty bits to enjoy. The game felt pretty overwhelming at first, but eventually once I got the hang of it, I found myself quite immersed in it. The game's main strategy lies in planning out which items to gather, which monsters to hunt, and then try to return to the safe point while keeping the character alive. It's definitely not for the impatient types, but I for one found this one engrossing enough to keep trucking along. I have two gripes though. First is that I really wish this game had in-game map. The overworld map is pretty confusing to navigate around and even after spending a lot of time in the game, I still had to look up the guide to remind me where a specific location was. The second is that the inventory is kind of badly designed. All the tools, materials, healing items, food and drinks are all listed under Items section and for some reason the healing items and food are at the bottom so you have to scroll down long list to get to it and it was getting annoying at times. Separating them into different categories would have made this much better. Pro-tip for those who want to start out in normal difficulty: Look up the guide and find out where you can find a free pickaxe. Then run directly to that area while avoiding any enemies as much as possible. Once you get a pickaxe, save (because it can break) and then gather as many stones and irons as possible. Try to make a stone knife, then iron gears, then concentrate on stock piling as much as food and drinks while trying to upgrade your camp as much as possible. Then, you should be ready to explore the island little by little.

I've played a lot of Kagura-published games but this is the worst imo. It's grindy, unforgiving, and the spicy content is mid. Nothing is particularly redeeming here, unfortunately.
