A new app to help young people choose a professional career. This is SouTec, a free tool that allows Brazilian students to choose a technical course tailored to meet each profile of interests.

With the application in hand, simply answer the questions that assess preferences related to work activities. But it is not necessary to answer all the questions at once, the student can stop as many times as he wants and continue where he left off. When finished, you will have access to a summary and a complete report explaining your professional profile.

Subsequently, the application automatically relates this result to the characteristics of the 215 courses available in the National Catalog of Technical Courses (CNCT). Then, the options that best suit each profile are recommended.

The tool also makes it possible to customize searches using criteria such as the location where the course is offered, according to the distance from where students live. It is also possible to favorite options and favorite institutions.

The technological solution was developed by a group of specialists in computing applied to education, linked to the Center for Excellence in Social Technologies (NEES) of the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL).

The demand came from the Secretariat of Vocational and Technological Education (Setec) of the Ministry of Education (MEC), which identified the need for young Brazilians to learn about the professional courses offered by the federal education network. In addition, the tool can be used by professionals who wish to reposition themselves in their careers, helping to stimulate lifelong learning.
