  Good game, bad port. It's a very good thing there's full controller support, because playing this game with keyboard and mouse is a less than stellar experience. Did I say keyboard and mouse? I meant keyboard and also keyboard. There is absolutely no mouse support, even in menus. All controls are mapped to a very few keys which often have multiple functions and cannot be rebound. I still recommend the game, but I'm really disappointed in the port quality.

  There is no reason this game should be as good as it is. When I play it, I inevitably keep asking myself "THIS is a game based on a CARTOON? Why is is it so good?!" I have spent much of my video game playing hours in RPG's, and I can safely say that this is easily one of the better ones out there. Mechanically, it's head and shoulders above so many other RPG's. It actually has a fresh, interesting take on the usual RPG combat with the Star system. Basically, rather than turns, you have a meter in the corner that generates points. Each character then has a set of moves that cost these points. This allows you the flexibility of using whichever moves you like from whichever character, rather than having to wait for that character's "turn" to do it. In the beginning it still mostly works like typical turn based combat, but that rapidly changes. This combat is deceptively deep. The number of move combinations is one of those things that makes me stunned that this is a franchise tie-in game. Here's just one quick example: One character, Connie, can do a sweeping sword slash that hits enemies near each other, but a lot of times enemies are not in nice groups. However, the main character, Steven, uses a shield bash attack that pushes enemies backwards when he hits them. So you can use Steven to push enemies nearer each other for Connie to hit with the sweeping attack. And this is just a basic combo. There are many, many more. I'm not even a real fan of Steven Universe, truth be told. I think I've seen one episode in its entirety. And yet I whole-heartedly recommend this game to any RPG lover. Don't let the cartoony aesthetic decieve you. There is a game in here worthy to be mentioned in the same breath as Persona 5 and classic Final Fantasy games.

  I got to know a good friend~ who recommended this game to me~ They shared screen with me so I could catch some glimpse on how this game looked like and what to expect~ I absolutely adore this game :D The graphics is really adorable, and this game infuses RPG and turn-based combat It is very easy to pick up the game right off too!

  About the Gameplay

  So basically, we are playing as the main character "Steven Universe" and we get to fight monsters, explore around different maps. There are secret spots / hidden location / items all over so getting 100% for a map will require some exploration on every nitty gritty spot but overall it is not that tough to 100%. Some enemies may be more challenging, so do level your characters! Some strategy is required to beat up the tougher enemies but so long as you are high-level enough and execute your attacks well, it will all be fine! Do use your items whenever, however note that there is a cooldown One cool feature it offers is that when a relationship/bond with a character reaches max, they can fuse together and deal some serious damage or offers huge buffs! I really love the fusion, hehehe It is both playable either by keyboard or controller and both works good~ I would say the avg time to completion would be about 24.5h However, I did encounter bugs at times where either the enemy got trapped during fights or during forging weapons at the anvil the game got stuck, so I had to hit the save and quit button and re-load the game. But overall I find it fun cos its just adorable and I love games like this :D Huge thumbs up from me! Tags:

  You know, a bit of a mixed big. Pros: + original voice actors and mostly great music; + same drawing style as show's background characters; + tons of show references and an interesting practically canon adventure in general; + same cool QTE based jRPG system as in the first game. Cons: - later areas can sometimes be glitchy; - game gives you waaay too many consumable items. I'm drowning in donuts! - game doesn't give you enough upgrade parts (chroma). Chroma can't be earned or bought, you need to farm it by revisiting some areas of the game after the timer you can't see hits the mark and colorful rocks respawn. Terrible system. You don't need to use it, but if you're trying to 100% the game, then you will have to. You will also need a guide, a lot of items are REALLY well hidden. - aformentioned system makes you "Save and quit!" a lot, because there is no "return to map" button. Waste of time. If you're a fan, definitely get the game with slight discount. If you aren't, watch the entire show and become a fan. Then refer to the instructions for fans :D
