  To put it up front in much fewer words, if you already like Planet Zoo, get this pack. The quality here hasn't been seen since the Aquatic pack and the animals are fantastic. This pack may be truly unique, perhaps outside of the Aquatic pack, for being an absolute slam-dunk. Before the South East asia pack, the community was constantly clamoring for more animals in the packs. When SEA first hit, it was received very positively, but as time went on it's influence soured. While it is true that it brought an additional 3 animals, the particular line-up selected was a bit lacking for what the community had been asking for. Babirusa, Clouded Leopard, and Binturong were all very popular and requested species, but the other picks were a bit unusual. The Sun Bear was not particularly popular but post pack launch it seems to be regarded better. The proboscis monkey was an extremely odd pick, virtually no one in the community was asking for it and since it is such an incredibly rare animal in zoos in the real world, very few players end up using it, especially if they are aiming for realism. The dhole was extremely similar to the dingo, and ironically neither animal was very popular in the community, the third time a canine added to a pack was seen as a disappointment. The Malayan Tapir was a literal reskin, just a new texture on an existing model. This would not have been a problem, except that the base game tapir was one of the worst models and was already in need of a redo, like the binturong received, and this perfect opportunity to improve the model was not taken, leaving two different tapirs with the same bizzarely inaccurate model. Ironically, if the pack had just been a standard pack with only four animals (Sun Bear, Babirusa, Leopard, Binturong) with scenery it probably would have been received much better as time went on. This time around we have what is the fist DLC pack where every single animal is both a highly requested animal, and very impactful for the game. The moose was always the forefront of any NA (and even EU) dlc pack suggestion, the beaver was similarly popular and also had fame from ZT2. The cougar, while never the first suggestion, seemed to always sneak into a top 4 or 5 list for NA species. The Sea Lion is doubtless prior to this point the single most requested species, and little need be said about it's impact. After the disappointment of the white wolf in the arctic pack, the arrival of the Arctic Fox gives better options for cold-weather zoos and for smaller habitats. The Prairie Dog adds yet another much needed small animal, and with much better effect in game than the meerkat from the Africa Pack, as will be elaborated below. The alligator, while initially seeming to be very similar to existing crocodilians, has been done so well and beautifully I can't help but want to squeeze it into my zoos, and despite a perceived similarity ti too has been highly requested. Perhaps the most shocking and positive effect of this DLC is the detail that went into all the animals. The arctic fox has winter and summer coats, and spring into snow in the iconic vulpine way. Beavers deep-dive and have a unique enrichment item allowing them to gnaw at and even take down small trees. The prairie dogs scout out and, if patch notes are accurate, even do their characteristic surprised bounces from time to time. Sea Lions gallop on beaches towards the water. Some packs have had little animations like these, such as in the SA pack for jaguars, but these have been few and far between. The rhinos from africa more or less act like the indian rhino, the african penguins just slightly smaller and slower king penguins. Here, the cougar even has unique animations from other cats, more playful with it's enrichment. The prairie dog is the most emblematic of this, it is quite common to see the animals playing with each other. I mentioned in my africa review that it was dissapointing that meerkats never seemed to interact with each other; if such an animation exists in game, I have never seen it, whereas the little rodents here are often playing amongst each other. This is emblematic of what an animal pack should be, all animals the community has been clamoring for in zoos, beautifully realized with dynamic and unique animations. The introduction of an underwater herbivore feeder, currently only used by the beaver, gives me hope for an eventual tapir overhaul with an improved model and diving, or perhaps even a hint towards a manatee in some pack far along the way. As another simply amazing note, the Red Kangaroo is finally a walk-through exhibit animal. The greatest issue I had with the AUS pack, outside of roster size, has been rectified, so as a side note I would say the good outweights the bad in that pack and I would recommend it as well. I hope this is a great sign for the future and things to come.

  Great selections of new animals in the North America pack, but man, not a single new nature item or building or facilities item which is a big bummer. I'd also really like to see these new packs come with campaign maps instead of the timed scenarios we keep getting.

  I would wait for it to be out for a bit longer before getting it. The game crashes when you try to load into your zoo ( I only tried franchise but the others may work ) wait until they fix a bug or whatever that is causing the crashing

  Perhaps I'm biased because I'm from North America, but this might just be the best DLC Planet Zoo has released to date. Every single animal, from the Moose to the Arctic Fox to the California Sea Lion, has had so much love and effort put into it. Even the American Bullfrog, which I was initially skeptical of, is genuinely one the best exhibit animals in the game. They don't just float there in the tank-they can actually swim! Naysayers of this pack will say that it's too US-focused, but that's just not true. In fact, the only one of these animals that is only found in the US is the American Alligator. Every other animal is also found in Canada, Mexico, or both, and the range of the Cougar even extends down into South America. And of course, we can't forget about the unique animations. Arctic Foxes can dive in the snow, Black Tailed Prairie Dogs can burrow, North American Beavers can build dams with a specialized enrichment item, and as mentioned above, American Bullfrogs can swim, which is almost unheard of for an exhibit animal. I can't recommend this pack enough. It brings much-needed representation to an underused continent, and the quality of the animals included is outstanding.

  This is an absolute must of a pack! One of my all time favorites and I own every single pack. All of these animals are so unique and amazing for the game and the models are always always beautiful! Many of these animal choices were taken from a large poll of the community's wants and requests. Frontier is amazing for listening to the players and providing such a banger of a DLC.

  Pros: -New animals -new underwater feeder -new signs for the new animals Cons: -no new themed buildings -no new trees/ bushes -only one new challenge (timed) -minimal new building materials I was hoping for something more for the players that do not have days or weeks to spend fabricating a original building .
