About the Game

Chop trees, plant and grow crops, hunt wildlife, mine ore and fish from the surrounding seas and fjords. From victuals to vikings, manage your resources carefully to ensure you can outlast the winter, and expand your settlement season to season.

Each of your villagers is a character in their own right. With 20+ characteristics, your villagers might be powerfully-built strongmen and women or silver-tongued thespians. Pay attention to skills and abilities when assigning your people to a task. Not all Vikings are alike, nor are they equally good at all jobs!

More Vikings will ask to join your settlement as it grows. You can choose to welcome them or turn them away. Over time, your Vikings will begin new families and give birth to new generations, extending their lineage and strengthening your village.

This land will bring many challenges to your settlement, from earthquakes to fire-starting lightning from the heavens above. Band together and withstand these disasters as best you can.

The seasons bring their own challenges, as do events and disasters. Be ready for storms and blizzards, or just the long deadly cold of the winter season. Prepare firewood and food stores to keep your Vikings warm and fed!

Your neighbors are an excellent resource for goods and gold. Once you build a Trade Dock, ships will visit you with various cargo. You can also send out your own trade missions, so long as you have enough villagers to crew the vessel -- and enough beer to fuel the crew!

But any good Jarl knows that force is the best path to glory. Raid foreign villages to plunder their gold and silver, and gain Fame points. Train and strengthen your Vikings to ensure your victory.

No grids allowed! You can build wherever you want, designing your village as you see fit, and to increase your Vikings’ happiness. Construct monuments to Odin or Freya and customize the look of your Viking ships. You will even be able to modify the look of houses with the Building Editor, in one of the Early Access updates!

Unlock new buildings and bonuses by spending Fame points in the Tree of Life. Discover beer brewing and build a Tavern for your villagers to relax in. Invest in goat farming to gather wool and weave fabric for better clothes. As you create better quality living and resources, your Vikings will become healthier and happier and your settlement will flourish!

+ Chill AF ! + Good models, good buildings and a realistic view! + Game has some kind of rpg element by itself + Every map has their own difficulty level + Different maps + Game let us make our own game style + Micro Management + Very good snow effect + Characters look good + Good Balance - Some animations look weird - Sometimes disasters can be cruel, I do like it with that difficulty but It can be harsh for some players. I think there has to be a mod for disabling disasters. - Fields could be better

overall recommend but with some things i didnt enjoy. Things I like: Graphics are pretty good! The world is nice looking and the sound and music is good too! Gameplay is easy to grasp if you ever played any of these types of games and things generally work together well. The events that happen with the villagers add some cool elements and choices to gameplay. Roads are great and glad its not a grid only game like other games. Things I do not like: -Trees get in the way and grow back a little too fast. If you want to build something where a tree was then you gotta do it immediately after cutting. need a way to clear an area and keep it clear. -Building anything is insanely slow. It's not fun and just frustrating. It's basically impossible to build everything you need before winter and feels like you're always playing catch up with the seasons. - I wish they would have more info when you click a building. For example, the hunting lodge has a productivity rating that you can see when you're building it, but if you cut down trees around it, that rating goes down but you cant see the rating anywhere after you build the hut. - TUTORIAL is not complete. They miss key things you need to build and you wont know that till things are going bad in your village.

UPDATED REVIEW 11/14/2022 So after getting more hours into the game I can still say it's a pretty fun chill game. I have encountered a lot of natural disasters and I feel like they may be happening a bit too often for my liking. Granted it's not so bad and easy to repair whatever damages they cause to the village but it does suck when you have a fair bit of projects going on combined with the already long building time. My biggest complaint now is the logistical side of the game, I have numerous warehouses spread over my village and nearby resource points but it seems like no matter what the goods will very rarely get delivered or received to their intended places. I have a huge excess of it so I'm not lacking in any department, like for example food. I check the marketplace continuously and most of the time it has either 0 food or 2 meat even though I have over 400+ goods of bread, fish, or meat combined. So my screen is just full of villagers being hungry even though they shouldn't be. Same goes for my herbalist, I don't quite understand if I'm supposed to have a gatherer in vicinity of the herbalist but I have plenty of medicinal plants and only one of my herbalist is gaining access to the plants while the others just have nothing and result in my patients dying. Definitely would either like to see maybe a building dedicated to resource delivery or it being incorporated into the marketplace and warehouses. Seeing them utilizing carts and other sources of transportation would be nice as we can place plenty of cart decorations around the area. Other than that I am still enjoying the game, the previous issues above don't have much impact on me as my village is still thriving but it is an eyesore to see and figure out. ==================================================== OLD REVIEW I enjoy it so far, chill game to kick back and just mess around with. Loving the decoration system so far, never played a game before where putting down decorations actually boost the surrounding buildings instead of it just purely being cosmetic, I like that. I haven't gotten that far in yet as I did just experience my first crash in 85 minutes but not a big deal. Very excited to see how this game will grow and what new things will be added onto the game.

Very beautiful game. It is like banished with great viking buildings. Very very beautiful decoration system and making some difference there. In its early stage it gave really good and immersive game. Nice random events. Nice tree. Nice tutorial and quest like line to learn the game. Can't wait to see what new will the developers bring to the game.

(Go to the bottom of this comment to get some insight about the game) I gotta say I really enjoy this game a lot so far! First time playing this genre & wasnt sure if i would like it. For the last two-ish weeks ive been jumping around websites and the steam store trying to find a survival-city builder that had depth in content and looked more realistic than most of the city builders ive been seeing float around. As I was looking at a few titles (top one being Banished) doing my final search to make my final choice on what game I should toss the dice on. This game popped out of no where. So I looked into and found it was being released in less than 12hrs which got me even more intrigued. It struck me because...well...Norse era for one and it looked overall promising all around graphics and content wise. When it comes to getting into something totally new, whether thats a video game or not, i find its important for the first time to be a well had experience to get you rolling. Here's what i think in bullet form: -Runs fantastic and smooth like butter on a hot pan (for me at least. Also haven't gotten any noticeable lag that is off putting which is a blessing). -Tiny bit of a learning curve but the dev(s) guides you nicely. Thanks Guys! -You ~actually~ have to use your brain and think strategically or you'll lose your people. -The fact there is no grid system for building blows my mind. Makes your village feel even more authentic to finest point of the definition of that word. -All your citizens have their own strengths, weaknesses, characteristics, and emotions. -Graphics look beautiful for what the dev(s) was trying to aim for. I was concerned from the picture on the sale page it was going to look more pixel-ish but it surprised me by how well the lighting/shadows/trees/buildings look especially during the night cycle. -You can speed up the gameplay by 2x, 4x, or 8x if you dont like waiting. (I enjoy watching them at normal pace. Its funny and adorable haha) -The game is overwhelmingly relaxing. Stressful at time but calming overall. ----Honestly, to close on my thoughts for only playing for 6hrs about to be many more, I would recommend giving this game a shot to anyone either getting into games like these or that has their interest peaked by it. Even for early access its a great game at a great price! From my personal standpoint and opinion I think this game is very much worth to add to your collection. You get what you pay for an then some. Cant wait to see what the future has in store for this game as it has so much potential to grow !! Keep up the great work devs. Loving it so far!!!

This isn't a solid thumbs down, it's a nice game and has potential. But for me right now it falls flat, and doesn't really have anything that pulls at me. There's no reasons given to be there doing anything. It's lifeless, at this point in EA. You're plopped down unceremoniously, your first buildings already in place, and you don't know a thing about it. Just start building, which feels stiff. Or limp. Or something. So, maybe later it'll be better, and I'll edit this if it is, because I'm not giving up on it yet. Edit: after putting in quite a bit more time, because I want to like it, the thumbs down is a little more solid. There needs to be quite a few improvements to not be fist-clench inducing. The farther you get, the more of a train wreck it is.

I wish there was a neutral vote for this game. I can see the potential but as of right now, its a bit of a disappointment. Individual villager missions are very poorly written, to the point where i found my self reading a script 3 times to get my head around the poor english and in some cases, villager missions made zero sense and i found my self clicking a random outcome anyway. Villager missions that appear to be one off events occur on mulitple occasions. "villager gets drunk and yells in the town square and gets beaten up by bullies" If you click the option to pay him damages for the assault, he gets 25 silver and becomes disabled.. ok, fine i thought. then about a week later the same missions pops up.. i mean, how much more disabled can he get? Villagers request to join your town, if you deny, you're forced to lose reputation, if you allow them, you have to wait until your villagers build more housing, which is really stupidly expensive. But its ok, i managed to get a decent sized town and worked to get happiness to 80% Queue thunderstorm, this threw lightening at my town destroying 8 houses immediately. A single lightening strike instantly nuked a house, in the space of 1 day, Multiple strikes destroyed all my homes. No fires, no damage bar, just instant destruction, meaning i now have to painstakingly farm all those resources all over again to rebuild each house, all the while, my villagers are dying due to being homeless and mid winter. Ended up with no villagers left as they all died off from homeless cold. I was half tempted to stick my foot through my monitor. Land of the Vikings needs a lot longer in the oven before ill consider taking another bite.

I do not want to come off as mean with this because i do generally enjoy this game, but it is certainly not worth the price for its current state. The main concern i have right now is tedium, you need to do irritating levels of micromanaging within this game, you need to personally assign every person to every building related job, which at first is fine, i actually like it considering each person has differing stats, its a really nice feature, but when a person dies, you need to manually reassign that job, but the game does not tell you when a job is left unfilled, and because your people seem to age like 20 years in a single in-game year, you will have a large amount of people drop dead at the end of every winter, you will need to go through every single building and job type to reassign any now vacant jobs. This also extends to farming, for some reason you need to manually tell your farmers when to start planting and when to harvest, you also can not set any sort of auto slaughter to coops/cattle, so you need to repeatedly check every animal related farm building and manually put in a number of animals to slaughter, over and over. And with that said the game in its current state does not have enough content that others like it lack to make this tedium bearable, at least for me. I really do like how each villager has their own random stats that can impact the jobs they're given, and i like this games version of the tech tree that also has branching paths for little passive buffs, but that is about all i can praise right now that i feel is unique from other games of its like. If there was a means to toggle an "auto reassign job to best/any villager" option and if farmers could do their jobs without being told to every 30 seconds, i would stick with this game far longer, but for now i really do not see it being worth its current price, ill refund for now and willingly pay a greater price down the line if this game comes to really shine.

Highly approved by this Grumpyolman. Lots of management involved BUT it does not come at you thick and fast so even my 82yr old brain can handle it. Worth buying just for the earthquakes. Reminds me of something I used to do in the bathroom in my teens. The graphics are good the detail is good, Oh to hell with it It's a bloody good game even though it's told me my people hate me and have buggered off so iv'e lost.

This game has potential - I think it's fun but it needs to re-balance housing as all I do is build houses for all my homeless Vikings – this is ALL I DO – everything else is built really really slowing around the house building – 90% of my map is houses – are you catching on yet? Still early release and I think it will be fine
