  Aftershock improves on many of the issues I had with Ion Fury and makes it an overall better experience. - Usage of spiders, drones, and other small annoying enemies is significantly reduced - Improved lighting (fewer dark areas) - Less focus on industrial areas and sewers and more outdoor areas. If you preferred the first episode of Ion Fury (up to the first boss fight), Aftershock will be right up your alley. - Better final boss - More powerups, some of which are very fun to use (Heretic fans will find a nice surprise here) The added arrange mode takes the original game and adds Aftershock content (enemies, weapons, powerups). It also slightly remixes the maps and puzzles/secrets making the experience feel fresh enough to justify another playthrough. There is also a new difficulty mode (Angel of Death) which mimicks Doom's Nightmare mode (respawning enemies) but is done in a more fair way that doesn't turn the game into a forced speedrun. Enemies respawn in place and won't respawn if their corpses are gibbed, which can be done with just about any weapon. The added vehicle feels nice and is used to great effect in the campaign. It's amazing that this was all done in a souped-up version of the Build Engine, as this is some of the most ambitious stuff I've seen done under this engine. If I would levy one point of criticism to Aftershock, it's that it's a bit too short. While the main game felt like it dragged on in the latter half (partly due to less interesting areas), Aftershock is less than half the length of the main campaign so it ends pretty quickly. However, that's to be expected since this is an expansion pack and the arrange mode and new difficulty add replayability to make up for that. If you enjoyed Ion Fury, Aftershock is a must-buy. The long wait was worth it and the team at Voidpoint have really shown their mastery of the Build Engine.

  Extremely fun. I thought it was going to be more of the original, but it improves upon it by a lot.

  New maps with game play very similar to the main campaign which I consider a good thing. If you enjoyed Ion Fury you'll enjoy Aftershock just as much.

  Fantastic DLC, the level design is just as amazing as it was in the original and the new hoverbike and its race level are fantastic.

  Best dlc of the year. great expansion that expands the plot, weapons and more enemies, so literraly more greatness. also the hoverbike section is kino. recommend it 100%, also the arrange mode is nice and i recommend it for first time players

  This was well worth the wait. Aftershock is an absolute banger of a DLC.

  Not a big enthusiast of this DLC. A large part consists of a vehicle ride a la HL2 with impossible to know jump landing sides. Also there is a shortage of ammo and many fights in narrow corridors against heavy enemies resulting in instant deaths. Still it's more Ion Fury and Shelly's one liners never fail to amuse.

  What they managed to achieve with Build is ridiculous. That first racing segment was incredible. I have had to without fail resort to guides for one secret per level so far. Never the big secrets or anything normal just something so incredibly tucked away no sane person would ever look there. Even on the hardest difficulty I'm still constantly maxed out on ammo (using it to blow up corpses, even) so if you're vaguely good at videogames you'll still feel like this games way too easy compared to say Blood or Shadow Warrior. The bike is fun but way too powerful with no real downsides besides not being able to strafe much and who cares when everything in front of you gets gibbed in 2 seconds. Turn off autoaim for the love of god.

  ion fury is one of the best retro shooters that came out in the last 5 yrs or so. was really looking forward to this release. just finished the first level and man its just as good as the original if not better (obviously cant judge later levels yet). but im fairly confident its gonna stay as cool. so many cool things in the first lvl already. music is rockin' niiiiice
