Chronicles of Tal'Dun: The Remainder Funciones

This is a story of two magi, Vyn and Ilar, who find themselves trapped in a collapsing tower with their only hope for salvation being a difficult ritual. Or at least that is what Ilar tells you. The thing is - you don’t remember anything, and Ilar’s story makes less and less sense the closer you are to the ritual. Are they hiding things to protect you from the bitter truth, or are they deceiving you for some more nefarious reason?

Guide Vyn’s actions to death and beyond and uncover Ilar’s truth. Are they your colleague, lover or something completely different? Read between the lines of what they are telling you, explore your surroundings for clues and use hands-on deduction to break the viscious circle and set them free.

Features

  • Around 50 different false endings and two true endings.

  • Almost 145k words that explore a world of ritual magick, ancient technology, and a culture that marries mystic traditions of the orient and occident.

  • Be lured into an occult world by artwork made to resemble alchemical manuscripts - intricately hand-drawn with pen and ink, then edited and animated digitally to bring to life.

  • Immerse yourself in the haunting soundtrack weaved from organic sounds, ceremonial instruments, ritual chanting, and glitch effects.

  • Chronicles of Tal'Dun: The Remainder contains Acts 1 to 3!

Just started to play the game and I'm already impressed by the quality of the artwork, music and the storytelling. I really like the addition of time sensitive answers because they make the game the game more dynamic, keep you on your toes and immersed in the story. Great work!

This is one of the most atmospheric visual novels I have ever played. The story itself is complex, layered and laden with emotion. This is not a game that holds your hand - it is challenging to get the true endings, and critical thinking is necessary when faced with the different choices. Everything you encounter has meaning, and it's up to you to puzzle that out. Realizing the clues for what they are is satisfying, and being able to figure out how to use them even more so. The writing is fantastic and is enhanced by the gorgeous artwork and the soundtrack, both of which shift between being haunting and bittersweet. The combination of the three is a highly immersive experience that I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in a compelling, emotional story with many mysteries to solve.

This isn't a review. This is a letter to the creators. The otome/visual novel snob is back again. I'm 10.9 hours in and have unlocked 58% of the achievements. That is to say - I'm still figuring things out, but I think I see what you're doing. I know how easy it is to create something awesome and forget exactly how awesome it is when it isn't recognized. So, every time there's a bad review, I want you to come back to this letter. And I want you to remember that otome/visual novels... Most of them are a lot like candy. They're brightly colored and very sweet - but there's not a lot there in terms of, you know - nutrition. Substance. So, some people - the people who are just looking for candy - they might walk away from this one feeling a bit perplexed. And that's okay. (I'm not knocking those of you who like your "candy." I like it too. But, sometimes, I'd rather have... A nice glass of wine. That's what this is.) Some people make entertainment. There's nothing wrong with that. I just want you to remember - that's not you. You make art. Keep making art. There's an audience for it. And we're glad to have you.

With stunning artwork, well developed characters and an engaging story, Chronicles of Tal'Dun: The Remainder pulls you into a beautiful fantasy world both enigmatic and bittersweet. Though elements of grief, sorrow, and forgiveness play a large part in the story, I applaud the creators for including elements of philosophy into the game, which I don't normally see in romantic visual novels. While almost agonizing and tragic, the choices provides enough variation to allow for different outcomes, which adds to the mystery of the game and offers the best kind of puzzle to unravel. Uniquely written, yet completely relatable, it's easy to fall in the love with the characters as you travel through the game playing as Vyn and engaging with Ilar. There's satisfaction in discovering the truth and seeing their stories become more transparent with each play through. I love this game, and if anything I've said above even remotely resonates with you, please play Chronicles of Tal'Dun: The Remainder.

It took me a bit to write a review, but at this point, getting closer to my 40 hours in, I feel like it's time. Now, will this be more of a simple review, or a love letter to the game? To be honest, I am not sure, but let me start by saying this turned out to be, hands down, the best visual novel I have ever played. When I discovered the game, I immediately found myself captivated by premise and art style. Less than a hour in, I was hooked. The world building, the lore, they are just wonderful: there is so much to read and discover, I loved every bit of it. The story itself is brilliant and beautifully written. It really gravitates around the player's knowledge and approach towards the plot, there is depth, complexity, and some insane replayability. Everything the player comes across has its purpose and meaning, quickly becoming a new piece to add to the puzzle, adding to its mystery, and getting to the end, finally seeing the full picture, is as challenging as it is satisfying. Delving deeper into the plot, it becomes impossible not to get attached to the characters: they are so well built, and the closer the truth, the more facets they show. I went through so many emotions as I saw them grow, learn, own up to their mistakes, and it all beautifully came together in a secret ending so moving it made weep... and smile at the same time. A notable mention also goes to the soundtrack, whose range sets the pacing and creates the perfect atmosphere for the whole duration of the game. I am really blown away. A thank you to the Devs, for giving us the opportunity to experience this wonderful piece of art. I love this game with every fibre of my being, and I am looking forward to enjoy more of your beautiful work in the future.

I actually want more people to encounter this masterpiece. I can't find enough words to describe all the feelings I have for this great work. It's so deep in it's thought and fullfilling, the way it lets you uncover the story and charachters appers intrigueing and touching. The game opens its embrace, guides you into the immersive world with a real-felt spectr of emotions. The plot can't leave any soul indifferent, and it's not all about the ending, it's about one's journey through the mess of human feelings, intentions and mistakes, trying to solve the puzzle of undergone grief. There's no straight path, you need to observe the story from different angles and help it mold your understanding of it. Reaching the clear view on events both ripps your heart and satisfies it. And I mean it. This novel's not a tear-jekker, you'll find no cheep or pretencious drama in it. Instead there're rich, fantastically good narrative, absorbing game process, beautiful artwork and atmospheric soundtracks. And surely long-lasting impressions. Just dive into it. Totally recommend. P.S. you're able to choose the pronouns for your main character, the others are gender-neutral.

To me, this at first was one of those games you buy because the artwork looks interesting and you kind of want to play another visual novel. I played the first act for free, got hooked by the atmosphere and the mystery, and was looking forward to a nice story to distract me from everyday life for a few hours. I did not get a nice story to distract me for a few hours. What I got instead was a crippling obsession that lasted for several days and completely derailed what other plans I had for spending my free time. When I was finished, I felt like I had just attended the funeral of a close relative, had been through a devastating breakup and reconciled with a dear friend all at the same time. This game hurts , but in that really good way that leaves you emotionally healed and ready to move on. It completely wrecks you in order to put your pieces back together into something a bit more healthy, a bit better. This, in my opinion, is what a good story should be able to do, and The Remainder does it beautifully. Some visual novels or very narrative-heavy games tend to feel like they would have been better off as books or at least don't completely embrace their format. In my opinion, The Remainder does a very good job at utilizing its game mechanics to the fullest to tell its story. The large amount of possible endings ties very nicely into the themes of the story and always manage to provide some extra nuance or interesting information. Along with that, the overall presentation and the artstyle are gorgeous, as is the writing style. TL;DR: If you like a good visual novel that will make your heart ache, looks very pretty and will haunt you for the rest of your life, play this game.

When I started playing this game, I was, at first, put off by the sheer number of directions the story went in, by the number of hours that I thought would be required to complete it, but I'm glad that I decided to continue playing. This game really brought me back to when I started reading "The Shattered Realms" series by Cinda Williams Chima, and I found myself being sucked into the story which I initially found intimidating. I don't even know how much time I spent playing, considering I mostly played this game offline, but I didn't even feel the hours pass by, especially when I neared the game's conclusion. The story itself was one of the most engaging stories of any Visual Novel I have ever played, and the characters, while scary at times, had me wishing for them to have a happy ending, even when the chances of that happening seemed slim. The artwork was also the most unique of any game I have ever played, really, and the writing was fantastic. I would definitely recommend giving this game a try if you have the time. Words cannot describe just how amazing it is.

It's like when you go to the grocery store and you're looking for a bottle of wine, and there's the cheap stuff on the bottom shelf that you know will get you your fix, and there's the expensive stuff on the top shelf that you could spend an arm and a leg on and accomplish the same result, just more elegantly along the way, and then there's the wine from the label you don't recognize, because it wasn't there the last time you came looking, and it seems like a reasonable price. No one working in the wine department can tell you anything about it, it only just arrived and they haven't had a chance to try it yet. So you think, this looks like it will do, why not. And you take it home and you open it up, not expecting much, because what is there to expect from a bottle of wine these days, and you pour it and try it and it's both rich and supple, with depth and texture and it goes down smooth. The taste it leaves in your mouth is somehow as familiar to you as the lines on your palm, but you can't quite place it. The more you drink, the more you want, and the next morning when you wake up and pad into your kitchen, you can still smell the scent of it on the air. You left a little bit to savor, to be sure it wasn't a fluke, to be sure you weren't imagining it, and that night, when you come to the bottom of the bottle, you know you're going back for more.
