  This is a game that clearly has not aged well, unlike some games from its era. The graphics are decent, for the time period, but that's about it. You'd exepct a game that's essentially a six degrees of freedom shooter to have appropriate controls, but the controls are more like a FPS, which does not mesh well with what's going on. The story is... Confusing to say the least. I was able to determine that, after a terrible nuclear war, humanity began living underwater. Beyond that, I'm not sure what's going on. The audio balancing on the cutscenes is so bad I could barely make out the voices past the music. The conversations are so seemingly random, with the plot simple jumping in several points without warning. Perhaps the game's worst offense, and it's one that's seen a lot in games of this era, is the terrible escort/protect the objective missions. The game throws so many enemies/turrets at you at once and your allies will blindly follow their programmed path that protecting them, or an objective, is so incredibly difficult that it's hard not to just skip levels. Even playing on Easy, which was proving overall unchallenging, I failed each and every protect/escort mission several times. The idea is great, the world is interesting, but the game itself is more of an excerise in patience.

  FOR SURE one of the TOP 5 Single Player Games I own. I have been collecting games for a few years more than 40 now. I remind you that this game IS nearly 20 years old. I would probably rate it as #1 or #2 and Aquanox 2 may even get the #5 spot...IF Archimedian Dynasty was remastered and you could play in 4K like you can with BOTH 1&2 out of the box, IT WOULD ALSO be #1 or close to it...I HAVE PLAYED every past great, I own them all. SO THIS is SUPER HIGH PRAISE. Even though I have owned most of these before, to purchase them again to have a good steam licence for them for a few dollars was SUPER WELL WORTH IT!

  very good game from old school times there was a issue with mouse controls but there is a un-official patch that solves all the issues and makes the game 100% playable well worth giving it a go patch can be found here https://cookieplmonster.github.io/mods/aquanox/#silentpatch dead simple to do just download and unzip the archive and copy paste the files into the aquanox directory and load the game and have fun and enjoy the game it was a gem from way back when.

  An awesome, FPS-like game. Underwater action, and even now, you can't call this graphic "outdated" - after 13 years, it's still not that bad on maximal settings. Game is really addictive, I've played it for the first time in 2003, in my childhood times. Now, when I play it, I still enjoy it really much. It contains a campaign with about ~40 missions, 4 fast-battle maps and a multiplayer mode, so it will give you at least 10 hours of great gaming. Totally worth that price. Also the soundtracks are awzum - while shooting all the enemies, you'll listen to "nightclub-great tracks" :3 Would recommend, 10/10, even 13 years after release. [i]Edit 11/3/2015[/i] 1) Since Multiplayer servers were provided by GameSpy, there is no chance for multiplayer gaming after GameSpy has been deleted. So if you want to play on Multi, the only option would be through a VPN client with friends through LAN mode. 2) Some of you may have trouble with movement. I don't know why, but with optical mouses it's sometimes very hard to look around. Lowering your sensitivity helps you a bit, but if it still too annoying for you then the best solution is to play either with controller or oldstyled mouse (that ones with a ball inside instead of a sensor, I don't know how this is called) 3) If anybody else got addicted to game music as much as me, look in YouTube for "PVCF" - all soundtracks would be listed there - HYYYYYPE /o/ Enjoy the game ^^

  Extremely short, but pretty fun. Voice acting - absolutely terrible. The concept altogether though is cool.

  Disappointed by bugs. A charming and very fun game! Surprised me. I overcame some (several) control issues and other such bugs, but after a certain point the game became impossible even on the easiest difficulty. Issues that I overcame included consistent game crashes caused by the resolution being too high, and the mouse controls being unresponsive early on (fixed with a file download provided by a friendly Steam reviewer). The insurmountable issue came about in a late level (and by the longest level so far), where I forcibly lost control every time. In earlier levels, when you take sufficient EMP damage, you are meant to regain control of your vehicle once the battery recharges. At this point in the game, that was no longer happening. The battery would recharge, but I would never regain control. This happened at every attempt and I gave up after about half a dozen tries. I went and watched the remainder of the game on YouTube. Overall I did like it. Stellar visuals and aesthetic, fun gameplay, and charmingly bad voice acting.

  Crap. Too long intro, controls are not natural. Didn't bother passing the first five minutes of game.

  All GOG and Steam players are given the same cd-key breaking the ability to play multiplayer unless you change it in game to another legit retail cd-key (random strings don't work).

  Aquanox is the underdog of the early 2000-s' games. While it received only mediocre review scores, it's still one of my favourite shooters. With music inspired by the Prodigy, amazing graphics for its time, and an unusual story and setting, Aquanox is a classic in my book :) It's also not an easy game, often requiring a good amount of skill to overcome its challenges.

  Unique post-apocalyptic submersible shooter. Nicely voice narrated dark cyberpunk story. Modern GPU features and high resolutions can be enabled which make this game look very good for a game released in 2001.
