1bitHeart Funciones

Welcome to 1bitHeart―the latest title from Alicemare and LiEat developer △○□× (Miwashiba). In this unique and endearing adventure game, take on the role of Nanashi, a lonely, agoraphobic boy, as you solve a slew of mysteries around town while also making friends.

This is the story of a world in which pretty much everything is controlled and watched over by computer programs.

One day, Nanashi―a young boy who has been cooped up in his room―meets a mysterious girl.

“Let’s make some friends.”

“OK!”

Nanashi accepts the young girl’s sudden invitation without giving it much thought.

At that very moment, some very strange things begin to occur in town...

Detective Part (Story Mode)

Gather information and topics by exploring the town and speaking with people to progress through the story.

Conversation Part (Story Mode)

Use the topics and info you’ve gathered to piece together conversations while progressing through the story. (The game ends when your HP reaches 0.)

Free Mode (After clearing Story Mode)

Talk and mingle with the residents of the town, make friends, and play mini games in Free Mode.

*This title was originally a free game, but the Steam version includes specially added events, etc.

This was the 3rd game I made, where I first experimented with a side-scrolling system, voice over and detective elements.

I probably spent the most time working on these 3 things, including revisions.

When designing the town, I had foreign cartoons in mind and was aiming more towards a foreign audience than a Japanese one.

However, the game is set in Japan of the near future and the character design is aimed more towards the Japanese aesthetic.

I took advantage of the fact the game is set in Japan to make some cultural references here and there.

"An adventure game where you make friends". Not a typical tag-line, but if there is any aspect that takes your fancy I hope you will play my game!

Cute and colorful as always like every other Miwashiba game. A side-scrolling game where you just walk around and talk to people as you uncover the main story's plot. The story mode plays like Ace Attorney Investigations where you collect info and then use it to rebuttle arguments and refute people. Free Time is used to make friends like in Danganronpa by giving people gifts till you trigger a character's event and eventually get a friend invite plus a thing to remember them by which is basically the main goal of the game that will decide what ending you get depending on how many friends you have collected :3 I loved the art and soundtrack of the game and the main story had a twist that I was not expecting XD Definitly recommend for people that like to just have fun and know more about random characters :D

Having played both of △○□×'s published titles before and especially after liking LiEat, I gave it a lot praise for its focused design - especially in the context of being developed with a very limited engine. I wish I could applaud 1bitheart for the same achievement, as it is almost impossible to notice the simplistic RPG creator engine underneath its gameplay elements and handcrafted visuals, but sadly it fails to execute its own ideas successfully. As I mentioned before, I personally place a lot of value in the ingenuity of original design with such limited tools and environments. For its benefit, 1bitheart feels very unique with its mix of walk-n-talk narrative puzzles and cross-examination mechanic (almost identical to the one which Ace Attorney titles are built around). Combine this with the absolutely charming visuals and heartwarming writing that Miwashiba is known for at this point, and you wonder how you can mess this up. Well... You always need to be aware of the perspective you approach a piece of media from. What I mean by this is that when I boot up a japanese indie developer's new project, I know it's going to feature elements of moe and deep psychological horror in variably heavyhanded amounts. As such, I'm not going to critic the absurdity, convolutedness or how filled with cliches the whole story was more than stating that the game's plot is indeed all of those things. 1bitheart's protagonist is a dorky, technomagical powers-wielding teenage shut in who's kicked into the streets to make friends, save mankind and understand themselves better - and all of this is somewhat tolerable along the ride because you get to meet amazing npc's along the way. The reason why I decided to write this review at all is that 1bitheart's npc's left me with an impression. There was so much obvious love and care put into different townsfolk you can meet and befriend, with hints of their interpersonal connections, motivations and dreams. Of course not all of the npcs are as deeply written, with quality of writing dropping quite sharply through game's later areas. The actual process of unlocking all of the dialog with different npcs is tedious busywork as you spam them with different purchaseable items to max out the friend point system. Reason why this becomes a grind is that the main game is both pretty short and very linear, and that game's ending is directly linked to the amount of npcs you manage to befriend. (I don't consider this to be a spoilerworthy, as its literally the game's overarching theme and this goal is heavily implied through main storyline.) To put it on simpler terms, for me the most enjoyable aspects of 1bitheart were both underdeveloped and drained of enjoyment by its design.

It's basically Human Interraction Simulator: Anime Style. By playing 1bitHeart, users will learn how to effectively interrogate, communicate, and befriend other people. Players must understand how to fluently bring up particular topics within conversations without breaking the flow. It is most reccomended that the player is a NEET, as the game is better suited for the NEET-kind. 10/10, harder than Dark Souls.

Have you ever wondered what kind of game the social aspects of Persona 3-5/Danganronpa, combined with the trials of Phoenix Wright, combined with the art and soundtrack of The World Ends With You, would make? The answer: 1bitHeart. This downright charming game created by the people responsible for the equally charming LiEat is something that's definitely well worth the price of admission. As far as difficulty is concerned, it's easy, there's no doubt about that. The hardest "case" in this game is about as difficult as the tutorial trial of the aforementioned Phoenix Wright games. *Maybe* the early parts of the first actual trials. But it's pretty clear that being challenging wasn't the focus of this game. No, the main goal would most definitely be your mission of helping Nanashi, our agoraphobic protagonist, get out there and make some friends. Fortunately, with a very colorful cast of over 40 characters spanning all walks of life, that's actually not a bad thing at all. The game features a gift system that will give different amounts of hidden "fondness points" that, after a certain amount, will trigger the in-game social events. Characters will have favorite items that will give more points than others; overall the system isn't so different from other games with social features like this. Finally, there's a fictional social networking/chatting app in the game, "Mutter", that lets you explore the characters a bit more via conversations between Nanashi and the others. Like I said earlier, the gameplay in the conversation segments seems to be inspired by the Phoenix Wright trials quite a bit. As you explore and talk to people you will gain information about people and areas that will be entered into your logbook as conversation topics. These topics serve as your evidence, and can be presented to either further discussion on something being discussed, or to refute something that was said during the conversation events. It's simplistic, and the game holds your hand pretty heavily. There's an option you can select in the beginning of the game that will give extra hints during conversations, but even with those turned off, there's likely not much here that will give any trouble. The game does have a couple of faults though. By holding down A you are supposed to be able to dash while you're out exploring the world, but the feature seems broken. Essentially, it sometimes won't work. You'll hold A and move...but you won't actually move any faster. This can be temporarily alleviated by moving back and forth or mashing the dash button, but once you shift to another area the problem could come right back. It's a minor issue as the areas aren't so large that traversing them at walking speed is a huge issue, but it can be a bit annoying. Secondly, you can't alt+tab out of the game. Ever. Trying to do so will immediately crash the game. This may be something on my end, but I'm not so sure about that since LiEat had a similar issue, though it didn't happen as frequently as it does in 1bitHeart. Like LiEat, if you're looking with something with deep, challenging gameplay, you probably aren't going to find that here. If you're looking for something similar to a visual novel/dating sim, I would easily recommend this, especially for the low price.

Very interesting game. You play as nanashi, a boy who loves everything and everyone
but hates himself for reasons I won't get into but I will say it's kinda depressing.
and you go around making friends and solve mysteries. The mystery segments of the game have you listening to people's testimonies and having conversations to get information or call them out on contradictions. The "making friends" segments have you going around giving gifts to people and getting them to like you
if you have trouble finding the gift they like, love chocolate usually does the trick just as well.
Music did get obnoxious at times. either because it's a 30 sec loop or it's just distracting when you're trying to read the dialogue. But overall, this game is worth the investment.

Very fun and colorful game that changed my life. It's definately up there in my top 10, maybe even #1 by pure merit of how it emotionally helped me in so many ways. This game is essentially danganronpa without death, with the funnyness of ace attourney, and style of TWEWY. The art in this is GORGEOUS. And the seiyuu's are pretty good. Most of the music is creative commons, but that ending theme original song is a bop. If you enjoy light feel good games with an interesting plot, futuristic game settings, RPGMaker-esque games, and any of the above mentioned games, then I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy in this game. Get your tissues ready for that ending, you'll be crying. Good tears. Oh you can also play doctor mario and tetris knockoffs if thats your jam. Pro's: +Emotional story about a boy opening up to others and coming to love himself +Fun colorful characters to get close to, all having events to get to know better +Catchy music and beautiful artwork +Multiple Endings connected to the amount of friends you have +Extra epilogue for more content Cons: -Most characters outside of the main group don't get much screentime or development -Friend events feel too fast and easy -grinding for bits without the cheat takes too long -Plot holes tied to big spoilers, mostly time junk
