  Just garbage, devs claim it can take you 2 hours to beat this game, but really if I hadn't run into 2 bugs that caused me to reset, I would had easily beaten it in under 1 hour. The game is very pretentious, and plot can be summarised as "Couple somehow creates machine that breaks time and space, so now here is an hour of random stuff happening in mostly the same 3 levels". People seem to be giving it positive reviews cause "omg it has a love story", which is the saddest part for me since its a pretty lame love story.

  Played on Linux using Proton Experimental, After playing another game from this dev, Wire Lips, I just has to see what else he had made, and this was one of them, and just like the other game the Atmosphere is just amazing, Never did i think i would play a Love Story Horror Game but i just did, Again it's short and took me an hour to complete, but worth it. Graphics are strange, good, but short of low-poly affair, but work well here, Sound is Okay, Game Play is again walk around a house find things to use somewhere, No note reading apart from on chalk boards and walls, spooky, and just enjoy the love story with plenty of horror to boot, Really cannot say much more with out giving to much away. Just like Wire Lips this is a Thumbs up from me, Recommended.

  one of the best games of its kind and has stood the test of time since it came out the graphics are beautiful and the story while confusing at first is a tragic tale of an experiment gone wrong affecting the life of 2 peoples love highly recommend picking this game up for a short but compelling horror game

  Amazing just amazing game. Great music and design and atmosphere, jump scares. Only thing i am SUPER confused is ending Is there more endings ? Because the one got , well... sucked, it was sudden and it just ended. And i was soooo in to the story :/ I like the game very much, but ending is horrible, at least the one i get. Other things where great.

  Oh man, what to say of Umfend... Twisted beauty? Happy lives ruined by some small mistakes? A incredibly pretty horror game, playing with the most human of feelings, love. Can you really say what you truly feel after playing this one? well, I certainly can't, but its a good game that uses its atmosphere really well, and throw some fair scares your way. Came a long way since the demo, and is lovely, surpassed all my expectatives and delivered an engaging experience. I all truly glad I stumbled upon this little gem.

  ★★★★☆ One game I would highly recommend is this romantic-horror gem. Had some flaws and I was definitely left with more questions than when I started, but the experience itself was excellent, and frankly it's the kind of game I'd make if I could do 3D, so I felt quite attached even from the demo. Pixellated graphics that are crisp & smooth, and had zero performance issues. Controls just fine, although the protagonist moves a bit slow at times. Options to remove the pixellated look if that's not your thing. Creepy soundtrack, and great use of sound in the environment. An interesting, but confusing, story. There's one puzzle that frustrated me quite a lot, which I feel could use adjusting to make it clearer what you need to do, and the game in general lacks direction, leaving you bumbling around clicking on everything you see in hopes it'll lead to the solution. I sincerely hope the developers update the game to make the story & ending easier to understand. Overall, though, pretty good. Definitely check out Umfend if you want to spend a couple of hours in a decent horror experience. :)

Before he can activate it, a mysterious entity begins to contact you with cryptic messages that hint to a shared past. Even though this particular entity may not want to hurt you, there are others who will penetrate your dimension of reality for more insidious purposes.Throughout [u]Umfend[/u] you must solve puzzles, explore your surroundings, and decipher messages from outer dimensional beings. In the end, [u]Umfend[/u] poses an important question for the player: "Is this real? Am I real?" Maker Cat's surreal writing gallops elegantly through each chapter. The story begins the Morning of 1996, then leaps nine years in the future, to then regress back to high school. Umfend's narrative forms a bow with its non-linear structure, only to be untied by an ending that connects all dots. But even with a coherent narrative that checks out, [u]Maker Car[/u] still manages to leave the existential questions surrounding time, memory, and reality unanswered. Umfend features minimal dialogue. Memories slip away unnoticed for those of us who are a little scattered, a little aloof, a little absent minded. Thus, a simple typed, and paused … Ｉ ｒｅｍｅｍｂｅｒ ... can be very evocative. In addition, Maker Cat employs a certain ‘glitch’ style for certain areas of the game. I enjoyed it. It was a really efficient and evocative way to communicate themes and emotions of altered reality, disruption of time and space, and so forth. When it comes to aesthetics, [b]umeera[/b] is a visual artiste. The textures for Umfend are tactile. [b]umeera[/b] manages to create an environment that mediates seamlessly between reality and fantasy. The models are unique and full of personality. The outer dimensional entities are horrifying, but they never get old. These are complimented by environmental cues that sugges reality may not be all that it seems. At times, the walls in your home will grow eyes, and at other times, a swarm of cockroaches will penetrate your air vents. [u]umeera's[/u] art style reminds me of the models and texture designed for [u]The Path[/u] ... I wonder if there is any relation. [b]umeera's[/b] character model for Anita is a beautiful enigma. A captivating soul full of knowledge and intrigue. She is a scientist. An artist, a friend, and a lover. She will tear the fabrics of space and time to try and communicate to you what is important, as best as she can. Walking into Anita’s room was so lovely. A white canvas splashed with buckets of pink and purple paint. A desk where she studies chemistry and biology. A bookshelf with a tape player, a record player, more books – and plants all over! I also enjoyed looking over the alternate character models for Anita once I finished the game. They all carry their own personality and history with them. [u]Umfrend[/u] is also filled with nice easter eggs that show attention to detail. For example, there is a book in the kitchen of the main house that features Fairwalk for its cover art. Fairwalk is a past of AIHASTO, the developer for Umfend. In addition, there are chocolate bars named after the titled of this game that appear throughout. Put on headphones and play this game. Let the music and the visuals take you away and sit tight for a short atmospheric horror experience that effectively communicates fear and melancholy.

  This game does so many things right. Atmospheric horror, sound design, compelling story, and lots of "wtf" moments. Pros: Great spoops Compelling story Constantly anxious (that one might just be me personally) Game lets you infer the story Character design is superb! Cons: Rather short (experience is still great) Game gives me too much credit on piecing the story for myself (I'm dumb, water it down a smidge for me) Creating a horror game is truly difficult, but this game nails the uneasiness, the audio spoops, the jumpscares, and the story (while maybe difficult for at least me to follow) feeds my curiosity. It's pretty short and at least on the surface doesn't appear to have any reason to play it again, it was pretty neat! Worth a pick up for sure if you love indie horror!
