Lifeline tells the story of the soldiers fighting to rescue stranded scientists within the city. Unlike Breakdown, Lifeline is trying to tell a specific story. This one takes place on a new unique map within a city. I love Trumbull Valley but this is great change of scenery. The player is leading a small contingent of military forces and trying to follow their orders of rescuing various important characters for evac via chopper. Lifeline introduces a couple of new game mechanics, such as the zombie horde attack mechanic where their threat will raise and eventually a full on base attack will occur. In preparation for this the player can setup various defences, various landmines and shoot-able canisters etc. Some of the characters that the player can find and rescue can be killed and can have some minor changes in the story-lines that can playout. In terms of balance, Lifeline has the player starting off relatively strong and reasonably well armed and stocked with ammo and vehicles, however this city is extremely infected and already looted and supply-lines are stretched thin. Supplies are running out over time as things become more desperate and orders change. In standard games I found myself leaning towards melee a lot but here in Lifeline I could enjoy using firearms a lot more freely.

The weapons are fun to use, there's a huge variety from frying pans to grenade launchers, and there's plenty of stuff to take in the beginning , however, Understand that it's hard to get supplies when you have so many people using them or you've checked over half the map, also bring a follower when you're doing missions cus you can die pretty damn fast alone and it's great to have someone to watch your back. P.S - Leave the Big uns alone and shotguns are really helpful and Molotovs can help too, so keep that in mind

This is a really good setting for state of decay new map, new characters, new weapons, new vehicles and more who would not like that in state of decay? There is also a lot more base building opportunities too. They are simply just amazing. I rate this DLC pack 10/10 i would certainly recommend this DLC pack for state of decay.

Of the two pieces of DLC, Lifeline is the least similar to the main game. They add some new mechanics and take some away. You only have one base and always work from that. There is a definite end as well like the main game and unlike the Breakdown DLC. Overall it's worth it if you're looking for more State of Decay.

You start with A LOT of guns, and plenty of ammo to last the entire playthrough. No need to mindlessly scavenge houses here, just call in an air drop for resources! Everyone you bring into your base (Excluding VIP) are soldiers. Seiges are super fun, Explosions everywhere!!!!! A true expansion! There is the occasional glitch: zombie running through walls, and un responsive ally, Ending's do not have much thought into them, never the less, a fun setting.

Can't say I enjoy this DLC that much. Sieges happen too often and barely provide enough time between each of them for scavenging runs, let alone doing side missions. And if that isn't enough, during sieges (that sometimes last forever...) you not only have to defend yourself but NPC that are too stupid to defend themselves as well. Guns take forever to reload. At one point during a neverending siege, almost all NPC's died. I mean, I get it, it was supposed to be harder than the base game but, to me, it makes it as mess to play with. No fun at all had to go back to base game to get some.

Lifeline DLC changes up the way people are used to playing the vanilla and/or Breakdown DLC. Gunplay is almost a must, taking a soldier with you is the only way to get unplayable ones to be controlled by the player (where as in vanilla and Breakdown, a survivor must be a friend in order to control them) and besides, it's always nice to have someone watching your back ....(unless the AI glitched). You are not, repeat, not supposed to stay in Danforth, you're there to rescue and extract high value assets and picking up lost/stranded soldiers along the way, then finally call for an extraction out of the already infested city when the mission is completed. If you need supplies, that's what the air drop feature is for! Again, different playstyle compared to vanilla/Breakdown. Are you ready? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMC3eHXEU0k

A thumbs up! New faces, New places & New vehicle, that's what you can expect. What you should prepare yourself is. If you think the Old crew from Trumbull Valley will make an appearance, Sorry to say, NO! I don't really remember where i red the article about LifeLine, I believe it was from the official site months before the release (I believe) but it doesn't matter, i didn't save the link.It says that lifeline will be a continuation of the first SOD, meet the old crew and feat new zeds to kill. Guess they didn't make it. Lifeline is pretty short game, rescue HVT, Collect Sample, Rescus Civi and troops, that's about it. you can stick around after all HVT is safe and stay to rescue more civi's but honestly it'll get boring after a while. First impression was, "DAMN! ITS A BIG MAP" but after 2nd playthrough you'll realize 70% after the map is either "Danger Zone" or Close off. Than you'll know how small the map truly is. about 5-6 streets divided by a highway with a handful of building on each side of the street to loot and random Trucks with weapon and supplies. The troops you rescue tend to be "Away from Home" which is ironic in this scenario where i have to search and rescue them from the zeds and they jump right back into hell by leaving safety of the base. and 2 of the base medic (a civi and a soldier) went AWOL at the same time leaving the sick getting sicker. No amount of latrine cleaning is going to save them. Story, they tried to make a story and some form of interaction in LL but it's not really working, You don't stay long enough to get to know your characters like in the first game. Dialog i believe that's the word. Pros: -News stuff. Environ, Veh. -Cost less influence to get a backup OTJ. -Veh storage system. -More functions (Reinforcements and Arty Strikes) -Siege mode is a plus. Cons: -Short game, about 5-6hrs i believe? -Small map and very little places to go. -No bring overs from the first game. -No stories about the characters. (Personality, Traits etc) -No New zeds -No replayability Overall is this worth buying? YES, if you love SOD than give this DLC a chance. Is it worth the Full Price? NO. wait for steam sale 75% and get it. This review and the opinion writen are entirely my own, you don't have to like it, just have to understand. the whole point is to help possible buyers of the DLC a better understand what they're about to buy. I made huge Comparison between what works and what doesn't with the first game. If you had played both, you would understand.

More guns More stuffs More Zeds More airdrops This is the best DLC for SoD. I really enjoyed to play it. It make me feels like a Walking dead series. But.. the Zed cheated!! They can walk through wall. NPC our side are stupid. They can block your way out and you will get KIA. anyway.. do not go outside alone. you have to get somebody watch your six.

It is with a very heavy heart that I say that I do not recommend this game. State of Decay is one of my favorite games of all time, I used to say it felt like on of the very best PS2 games I ever played and considering how many amazing game experiences I had on PS2 I consider that high praise. What State of Decacy did SO RIGHT, Lifeline gets so very wrong. Unbalanced difficulty that isn't a matter of learning controls, bugs that unlike the base game continually punish the player. Hapless NPC that were given a little bit of a "boost" in the base game to make up for their stupidity are left to their own devices this time, even if they are mission critical(I've seen essential NPC's torn to pieces by one single zombie, just ONE). State of Decay proper is an excellent title that I have socked well over 30 hours in and enjoyed so much I bought it twice, once on Xbox and again here on PC, but with all it's improvements I cannot recommend Lifeline, the frustration born of bad design is just too much to over come. Do pick up the base game if you haven't though as it was an excellent time.
